Nex-6 now available at Midvalley, just today. Sony center Rm3199, keyC 3099, fotokem 2999 but all giving same freebies like 8gig card, small bag n some camera cleaning kit??

Just my brief hands on??
like:
- The EVF switching is very quick!
- Nice quality of the casing, doesn't feel like plastic at all.
- Top Dial definitely improves the speed of setting up.
- Silent and effortless Zoom.
- Compact size of the pancake zoom
- hotshoe!!

don't like:
- I felt the mode dial is too tight, and it's edges abit rough.
-NEX-7 top dial has a nicer feel
-Rubber grip is abit too grippy n abit sticky.
-The manual focus ring feels too loose, but perhaps that makes it more silent?
- the hdmi port cover is also too loose.

Just me 2cents view of the physical aspects of NEX-6.

.... If you want, Sg Wang 6th Floor has this similar scene.

QUOTE(Augus7 @ Nov 9 2012, 08:07 PM)
Just wondering, how far 18-55mm Lens can zoom as compared to a 20x optical zoom point to shoot camera?
*
i think 1855 is 3X roughly 55 divided by 18. 20X no need NEX la, Lumix TZ and Nikon Coolpix can do it.

QUOTE(mls_gamer @ Nov 9 2012, 09:17 PM)
bro got ask about the warranty ?? can extend the SONY warranty more than 1 years ?
*
Yea, I asked 1 shop, says register online will get additional 3 months i think.. so 1 year + 3 months warranty. Was it 4 months?

guys...even in PC my pic still looks weird...so i think its the pancake problem lah....
so now to solve it only shoot in jpeg mode??

err... can you like resize and attach a few sample pics here, much faster for others to spot and help out. But i won't worry though.. new cam still under warranty. Sony may not repair and might just give you a new unit.

Nex-6 and 5R , there's a Lens firmware update for the e-mount lenses. This is to support Fast Hybrid AF. There's also a play memories update. Go get them!

Hmm.. looks like the 16-50 is not listed as compatible with the first gen Nex-3, C3 and NEX-5 and 5N? Maybe someone can try it? Maybe it should work but have to live with the image distortions.

e-mount 1650 compatibility

Err.. how is NEX-6 video capturing?? is it good if you want to record for more than 1/2 hour??

i like the VF from nex-6 but not sure if i can live without it in nex-5r

opinions anyone?
*
D5100 is pretty good with the articulate screen. Keep it la, no need to change to NEX.

I am also in the same situation. I am using D7000 + lots of lenses. Since I bought my GF1 2 years back, my D7000 just sitting in dry box. Until yesterday, I decided to let go all my Nikon gears and jump ship to Mirrorless fully.

Reason is I too used to the GF1 light weight and lazy to bring out the heavy Nikon gears!
*
At least keep your Nikon lenses lah, can be reused on NEX bodies.

Damn.. I think Kai screwed up this review, felt revolted after watching this review of NEX-6. Irritating poo jokes, immature and not enough substance.

Holy Shizzzz... Sony smart remote @ Play Memories mobile.

It really works rclxms.gif Sony. Click on android Screen to trigger NEX-6 to shoot. As you move the camera around, the android screen is refreshed almost instantly without lag.
haha.. I'm still feeling the chills..sweat.gif Only thing is NEX-6 interface feels laggy when u are doing this and the review button is disabled on NEX-6.

However, you need to have a Sony Entertainment Network ID to download the App into NEX-6, to log in via the camera itself. I tried my PS3 id (aih sad.gif.. ya.. Sony fanboy here) , which was a Jap ID and naturally, the camera menu went Jap too.. doh.gif

haha..no.. i can't read japanese

---------------------------------------------------------------

On another note, i tested Nex-5 with 1855 and Nex-6 with 1650 on the same scene to compare ISO 12800 at 35mm. Result I see at 80% magnification is cleaner Noise on NEX-6 with 1650. Swapping the 1855 onto NEX-6 same result which is a good thing.

Another good news is, the Old DI 622 markII triggers nicely on NEX-6. However, have to switch to Red indicator and manual set flash.

I feel that nowdays with network connected cameras, your actual photographic skills and tools will be tested more. This morning i attended a friends Marriage registration (ROM), gave NEX-6 a real life use and realized this.

Even before I could review the pics myself, others we already asking to share the photos, and taking out their mobile devices to transfer the pictures from Nex.So, In situations like this where the population is so used to phone cams, filters and instant uploads, you'd better get the pictures straight from the cam because nowdays, people don't like to wait and there's no where to hide.

By the way, The PZ1650 does make a slight Whirring noise when zooming. I could hear it when I reviewed the video back home. Reduce Wind Noise option was on. There seems to be a bug with NEX-6 Hanging, or menu buttons are frozen when deleting images (jpg+raw). I experienced this twice today. Apart from that, there was also instances where the Zoom lens didn't retract after i power off.

Well, I would like a feature/function to power off without retracting, so that it can save power and have a quicker startup. Hope Sony can enhance it... like pressing AEL+power off will turn off the power but Zoom lens remains extended, then when you power on again you can shoot instantly.

YES, I used my existing PSN id for it

I am not a fan of 3rd party products, not even lenses. So I prefer original. Sorry about it! smile.gif
Cant remember what's my hubby PSN ID, will have to wait till I'm home later.

OH... NEX-6 has no pre-flash. This means you don't need the Seagull SYK unit to trigger external flashes with NEX-6.

Im lovin this CAM more and more.

I've been having problems with my NEX-6 and 16-50.

1) The camera "loses contact" with the lens sometimes. When this happens, the aperture becomes F/-- and power zoom doesn't work. After a few seconds, the lens does a foucusing dance and everything is ok again. This happens a few times an hour.

2) Sometimes when I switch off the camera, the lens doesn't retract.

I don't know if it's a lens or body problem cry.gif
*
I've faced issue no 2) a few times before. So it seems like a recurring bug in the system..
