QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Dec 9 2012, 12:49 AM) Today I was at PCFair and tried the NEX-6... I can't find an official DOF indicator in the manual or searching in the menu's. However, If you have focus peaking on I guess that could roughly serve as a visual DOF indicator??Unfortunately I couldnt find the DOF indicator for the camera.. Who told me the NEX-6 has 1 could you please guide me? Thanks! |

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Dec 9 2012, 12:46 AM) Managed to snap some shots this weekend and found some shots to be blur, not sharp focus while others did great. I'm still 50-50% with the NEX 6 but overall, love it. There's something fishy about Nex-6 AF with the PZ1650. I just tested shot after shot using M mode (35mm,1/20,iso 800) , S-AF, Center weight with DMF, and I always get sharper results with manual focus as opposed to letting the camera AF. This is daytime with the window curtains 1/2 open.Anyone know if Lowyat forum rules changed recently? I'm no longer able to upload any photos to be shared here. I toggled Setup >Phase Detect AF Area , metering center or Multi and the results still the same. There's a Setup > AF Micro Adj. but I am not sure yet what does it do. So, for those who think their NEX-6 Lens itself is not sharp, try DMF or manual focus to test it out first before concluding. This post has been edited by nlik: Dec 9 2012, 12:53 PM |

QUOTE(lwliam @ Dec 9 2012, 12:55 PM) Nic, the Micro adjust is to adjust minute focusing errors (back focusing). It's very very helpful for situations you're facing. Read up on it and do it yourself to correct the focusing issue. hmm..and i just found that the AF micro adj. is only used with LA-EA adapters. so probably not affecting the focus with the PZ1650If you need help, come over to Sunway tonight, we go yum cha, I'll help u with it. |

QUOTE(lwliam @ Dec 9 2012, 01:04 PM) No worries man.. the ambiguous name of that settings can really be misleading. I've run amok shooting around the house haha.. my right eye abit uncomfortable squinting in the EVF. But i've concluded that the AF is not always 100% reliable. Sometimes it get's the same sharpness as MF but generally MF beats it, even though will be much slower. Granted there are already well known scenarios where AF will be fooled, but I'm curious though, if the color of the subject will affect the AF accuracy. QUOTE(LeoWillis @ Dec 9 2012, 01:13 PM) ehmmm, what i found in the NEX handbook: Cool. -when the aperture >F6.3, tge phase detection AF is unavailable. -the setting - Phase Detection AF Area is just the indicator. it can't be turned off. Nex-6'ers.. can anyone take a dark scene.. like in an outdoor parking lot where there will be alot of 'black areas in the scene'
Then, review the picture and press DISP until you see the histograms. Do you also see the overly bright or dark areas BLINKING?!! Thanks. |

QUOTE(f.e.a.r @ Dec 13 2012, 04:56 PM) well... yea.. let's all do this. I'm sure we've seen each other at workshops before. Hmm.. Pandai pandai la, roughly the areas.. Central: KL, Selangor, Negeri 9 North: Penang, Perlis, Perak South: Johor, Melaka East: Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan East Malaysia: Sabah, Sarawak, Labuan. Remarks.. : just wanna minum, or wanna include location shoot first then only minum? or whatever u think is appropriate. Maybe can just add your ID and ignore the location, date, remarks if you are not so particular. I think no need all regions to meet at the same time lah. Allright
Honestly, i'm feeling more to KLCC. There will be a Comic Fiesta to be held on 21st and 22nd December at KLCC convention center. There should be opportunities there to catch some Cosplay, which haha.. i think seems to be mls_gamer's forte. So I'm thinking these 2 days lah. ok??? Anyway, if Gangnam could awaken the world silly and Social networks could topple a government, I believe the 'forum' itself has powers to make great things workout!! --------------------------------------------------- On another note..Hmm.. I feel tonight, as of now my photography is at a stage of staleness and mediocrity. It seems each of us has our natural way of looking at things and a 'trend' of your style slowly emerges and becomes apparent. It get's more obvious as you take more pics and review what you have taken. Have you gone through such a phase before?? This post has been edited by nlik: Dec 15 2012, 01:24 AM |

Seems there is a 5 to 7 seconds delay for the new power zoom1650 lens to retract and power off on a NEX-7 . Current firmware 1.01 doesn't solve it.
NEX-6 takes less than 2 seconds to retract lens n power off. Similar 1++ seconds to start up |

QUOTE(merchant9 @ Dec 16 2012, 10:35 PM) Testing Picture attachment. Testing and Experimenting with Heart shape bokeh, sorry for the boring subject . It's not perfect yet as I'm just using paper cardboard, but will refine it. Otherwise, we actually upload to sites like Flickr or Photobucket and then link it here with the 'IMG' tag. QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Dec 17 2012, 12:02 AM) Added on December 17, 2012, 12:03 amI tried to do this too but never worked not sure whether the shape too small or big. Mind sharing a photo of how the cardboard is attached to the lens? ![]() I've placed the Tutorial Link on the 1st page. But anyway the formula seems to be focal length/ aperture. So mine is 35mm f1.8 (nikon), where is 35/1.8 is 1.9444 cm which should be the max size of the shape. But for this experiment, i cut out 1.2cm X 1.2 cm in the middle only. I haven't tried on the Zoom lens let.. 50/5.6 =0.89 cm... haha.. This post has been edited by nlik: Dec 17 2012, 01:33 AM |
