Wave was brave to attempt injection molding kits unlike Volks' overpriced(?) resin kits...
still Junon(?) is the one of my favourite followed by KoF - early version not the later one... |

yea I used to have the original manga up to vol. 5 or 6 before I lost stacks of 'em...
I did noticed my local Japanese bookshop has entire Chinese versions? O_O Think it's called as [jyunon] in the Japanese manga though didn't know how it's spelled in English... This post has been edited by dj898: Mar 29 2006, 10:50 AM |

Goaf Custom I'd say try if you have Photo Element.. this is actually quite fun... I shall try some background composite like one I saw on Korean web page recently... From this To this This post has been edited by dj898: Mar 31 2006, 07:35 AM |

QUOTE(kingkong81 @ Mar 30 2006, 05:35 PM) Wow...those effects r so 'chun' PhotoElement is the cut down version of Adobe PhotoShop and from what I can tell virtually any decent digi-cam package come with one. That Goat shot is something I've done in few minutes of fiddling after installing the software on my notebook. I'm going to try the some composite with different layers - not sure PhotoElement support the multiple layers though - and voila! digital diorama... for marker removal, was told you could use eraser though never tried as I prefer the just draw the line in thin'd enamel and wipe out the excess using thinner soaked cotton bud... QUOTE(infested_ysy @ Mar 30 2006, 06:58 PM) ... actually I believe you are referring to 1/12 HY2M Zaku?3) there's 1/1700 (for ships), 1/400 (DX collection, DX Neo), 1/200 (HCM Pro), 1/144 (NG, HG, HGUC), 1/100 (MG, NG), 1/60 (PG,NG) or heck, heck, 1/12 (resin crap)... here's 1/24 scale HY2M Gundam as well. Don't think that is resin - that would make the thing weigh tons from what I heard 1/12 Zaku is more or less the statue that you need minimum assembly for display while 1/24 Gundam is fully posable - similar to PG in terms of posability - plastic kit that you need to assemble just like MG/PG though with much bigger parts. Fully assembled 1/24 Gundam is about 80 cm in height - little but smaller than my 2yo kid (yes I have one) and there's 1/144 EX line usually for smaller fighter and what not featured in Gundam universe... i.e. Gundam Trailer seen at the beginning of origianl kidousenshi Gundam TV series for example. and compressor, trap filter, mask and glove to go with it...
yes it's rather expensive investment but if you are plan to do gunpla or any other model building it'd be the money well spent... |

and I forgot to mention spray booth coz you don't want to inhale what you are spraying...
you could make one with some box and hose and fan as many others have done... or do outside provided you have access to the power outlet... and finally don't forget to clean up your air brush every time you use unless you think forking out for new air brush every time you need isn't such inconvenience... |

QUOTE(Shiitake @ Apr 6 2006, 01:22 PM) if you are doing the diorama in 1/144 scale you can use N scale railway scenic model kits. They make variety of buildings, figures, cars and etc.For 1/100 scale try TT scale and if you cannot find HO scale would do. N scale is 1/166 but close enough to 1/144 and TT is 1/100 though it's harder to find (try Architecture supply shop) than HO which is 1/86. one issue is as these kits generally tend to cost arm and leg. wait till your railway model shop is having sales day to stock up. Of coz you could make the building full scratch using plastic plates or hardrock. Or even thick gauge paper This post has been edited by dj898: Apr 6 2006, 12:07 PM |

QUOTE(Sealsmaster @ Apr 6 2006, 11:51 PM) Mmmhh.... i thought the largest scale was Perfect Grade 1/60 ?! Bandai did have another line up called HY2M and produced 1/12 as well as 1/24 scale Zaku and Gundam models..would look cool with 1/24 scale vehicle and airplane along with 1/24 scale Gundam. Besides that Ex-S is not from Bandai. If I'm not mistaken that one's G-Systsem recast(?)... This post has been edited by dj898: Apr 7 2006, 06:57 AM |

depends on the availability you could paint the thing in lacquer based paint and then put the panel lining using enamel black.
and then wipe out the excess using cotton bud soaked in enamel thinner as the lacquer based base coat won't get damaged. or paint, glossy coat, put decals, glossy coat, washing, wipe out, weathering(option), top coat. Viola! This post has been edited by dj898: Apr 7 2006, 01:33 PM |

QUOTE(YenS @ Apr 10 2006, 06:53 AM) huh? acrylic n enamels..wat are those? are the gundam markers either of em? Acrylic and Enamel is the type of paints like there are water based paint and oil based paint when you go to hardware store/paint shop. its my first time leh. i just went there n said "need stuff to paint n do finishing on gundam kit" then he said use the marker. so i bought the 6pack one with grey panel liner. wats primer? where can i get it and how much is it? sorry yea, all this sounds like gibberish to me~~ lol at tha noobness... thx infested:) n i saw that thing in ur avatar in LYP..in some dumb shop selling overpriced kits. w00t!! red frame! planning to do finishing or gonna leave it like andyxp? is it just me or are the wings a lil short? Primer is basically the base coat modellers put on the assembled model. Its benefit being it will highlight any imperfection - i.e. improperly done seam fix - and also acting as the good base for the paint to grab on and gives you the even base to paint... Tamiya makes a can spray though it can be expensive - heck all primer is expensive considering the amount one need to paint per model. for panel lining there are half million ways - ok. maybe not that many Gundam marker is alright though many people use the rotering pen for that since you can get the finer tip... If you are interested check out Military modellers and see what they do. They often use what they call washing - not recommended for Gundam models unless you are going to use for diorama with heavy weathering... Try Goggle as there are again half million or more web pages on these subject on the vast sea of Internet |

bit OT but I was asked to sell off some of my gunpla to make room for other family member and wondering what would be the fair price to ask for the completed/painted Bandai Perfect Grade 1/60 scale RX-78-2 Gundam?

primer comes in either grey or white if you want the white base coat...
one of main use of primer is to find out any imperfection before you start to paint and also gives the nice even base for the paint to grab on. if using white primer well you could leave it at that followed with decal, lining, top coat, etc... enamel and acrylic is just different types of paint. if you like think of permanant marker and white board marker. I really don't recommand the gundam marker unless you want to do is pre-assembly with lining O_O |

QUOTE(YenS @ Apr 13 2006, 05:17 AM) err..isnt it those tamiya ones? cos i saw the tamiya cans at jusco..they come in a lot of colors. Yes Tamiya makes nice selection of Acrylic paints though I prefer Gunze as they have more wide range - so I don't have to mix paints how abt those parts that dont need painting? do we still need to prime it? as for the gundam markers, why is it better to use acrylic/enamel than the markers? sorry ya, still blur thx I do use Tamiya spray can when I see one for cheap but it's mainly for paint the diorama base or something I just need the basic cover up. Other than that I don't use coz it's quite costly for smaller parts don't need painting? Don't know which parts don't need painting with MG kits coz I only use MG and PG kits myself. Never do 1/144 scale nor HG kits I use the paint brush for the small piece since it's not easy to use air brush and masking can be a hell with small pieces. It's easier to hand paint 'em well IMHO Gundam marker could be alright for smaller scale kits and even that at smaller areas unless you have the skill to cover large areas with Gundam marker and not have the stroke(?) marks - well I don't. Using air brush will give you the nice even finish though properly prepared/thin'd enamel/lacquer could achieve nice finish with hand paint provided you have steady hands and patience |
