You still dont understand the situation. It's not a matter of data loss or wipe. It's a matter of getting FOTA or using Kies. You cannot have those if your phone status is MODIFIED. Your phone status must be NORMAL first then only you can use either one or both. And in order to get NORMAL status..you have to factory reset your phone. Otherwise your status still MODIFIED.
I hope you have a clearer picture now. And i sincerely hope you're willing to give a hand in helping newbies instead of laughing and critizing other ppl effort of trying to help other users.

hey guys, need some help here:

updated my unit to stock malaysian jb and flash to speedmod kernel,

1)if i flash back to malaysia stock jb via odin,will my unit be totally wiped out?

2)my unit is taking super long to charge. from 10percent to 70percent took 6hrs with a generic 1A charger.previously via ics it took 2hrs to fully charge from 0 percent. u guys experienced this? saw from xda forum that new firmware need time to optimize the battery, is this true?

So far didn't experience this but logically base on your explanation it may due to the kernel you put in. Since you root your phone why don't you back it up and put in stock rom and root it again to test it out?

dont think its the kernel. coz i had the charging time issues even before i flash to custom kernel.

hmmm......

I have mentioned numerous times previously that triangle away can restore your status to original from modified in a rooted s3 with stock rom.  I've used chainfire's cf auto root to root my s3 and then triangle away to reset ROM counter AND restore status to original.

Next day, I had an OTA update notification and easily upgraded to jelly bean with no issues.

After update, I used OTA rootkeeper to restore root. As simple as that, no need to do CF root again.

Thanks god..atleast you know what you talking about. Some ppl dont understand the whole situation but still want to slammed on others.
So now we know another way to have normal status in order to receive FOTA. It's not for me actually as i'm on JB quite some time edi. Thanks bro for your help

I still can't update my S3 through OTA.

It stated "Access to the software update service is provided to users in the order in which they request it. Try later"

What does it means? I tried to update since Mon by OTA.
