Approx how long they'll take for the RMA process? My AC adaptor is not functoning now, guess I'll bring it to RMA soon.
It was about a month before they gave me a call to collect the router.

I waited for 5 days only smile.gif

Anyway , hardyboyz

That day I asked here to reconfirm the firmware I going to flashed. I am curious what goes wrong that day I want to update my firmware

I downloaded the micro generic from here
user posted image

I went to the admin tab , and I just browse the micro generic firmware I downloaded , then I press flash. I didnt reset the router before I do any flashing.

After a few seconds , "Failed" appear on the screen. I reboot , my router isn't working anymore.

Mind to explain which step I am wrong ??

I think I downloaded the wrong firmware , I should get from the untested alpha firmware right ??

Please guide me smile.gif

@JKEC
can u tell the features u got by flashing the v5 router with dd-wrt firmware u used right now?

i am using the v5 router but with linksys's newest firmware. I am thinking twice whether to flash to dd-wrt firmware or stick with the linksys firmware.

Personally I think I'd better buy a WRT54GS router and flashed it with dd-wrt firmware. That a better option than getting limited option using micro version of dd-wrt on WRT54G v5 router.

If you plan to get a WRT54GS, I'd suggest to get WRT54GL instead as the GS does have a v5 version now which if you get it, you will have to flash it to the micro version of DD-WRT.

Download [DD-WRT micro generic]. You may want to check [DD-WRT] to make sure there isn't a newer version than v23 SP2 beta 08/03/06. Do not use the one labelled 'WRT54G' or 'WRT54GS', use the 'generic' version.

I quote this from http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G5%5FCFE

The question is , this page told me to download the Micro Generic version , not those were labelled as WRT54G rclxub.gif

please clear my confusion.

DDNS features is still disable on this micro firmware.
i mainly use QoS which is not bad thumbup.gif
P2P/BT seems more stable than previous version.

i advise to u to buy GL instead of GS router.
i flashed more than 10 sets for my customers without any issues occured... thumbup.gif

I once had this problem but all I did was to reset to factory default settings and the adding QoS works fine after that. You should try that though. smile.gif

I would say yes as it has much more RAM memory compared to the v5 but the v4 is no longer available in the market because it has been replaced by the newer versions with less RAM memory. You can still get WRT54GL which has the same specification as the WRT54G v4 though.

It depends on your usage. If you're a light user , then V5 would be okay , but if you're going to any serious 'job' such as IPV6 Tunnel or running your own miniWEbserver go with GL

Its consider the best if you can get the WRT54GL.

anyway..after changing the IPfilter port to 4096.

OMG OMG OMG... 12 client 4 wireless.. most of us are Torrent freak..

OMG OMG.. with 2000+ active port.. its seem the router can handle it smothly..

no lagg or slow surfing whutsoever.. seriously.. DD the best.

Good to hear that. The SP2 is much better compared to the SP1 as I found that the QoS in the SP1 wasn't working efficiently as the SP2 now. biggrin.gif

The WRT54GL is exactly the same as a WRT54G v4. For now, you can't get the WRT54G v4 where now it has been replaced by the v5/6 which has less RAM and not allowing you to flash to third party firmware such as DD-WRT. Linksys then decided to come out with WRT54GL where the specs is exactly the same as WRT54G v4 because of a great demand of it and many wanting to flash it to a 3rd party firmware. The wireless signal is moderate and good enough for home use though.
