Most of the shops in lowyat doesn't have the stocks only Sri have those kerbau but they sell it at high price i bought 3 of kerbau Mimo versions will flash it into dd-wrt soon.

Total 3 kerbau RM 195 each x 3 = RM 585

While looking I found shops in Imbi, at first floor selling networking parts including the HIGH GAIN Omni directional antennas,  but they totally double the price and selling the TNC / SMA cables separately really slash throat and gila punye price. Decided not to buy from them caused i got my own supplier from Taiwan.

Here is the picture

Ipoh here those wireless routers going for around RM150 each.

Cap Kerbau is actually the networking products division of Melco(Mitsubishi Electric Corp)

IIRC most of the shop does not want to replenish stock for the WHR-G54S.
ask few shop said : supplier no stock or EOL wtf mad.gif

Did a little home work, call up the the supplier ECS
We have plenty of stock.

RM150 is SRP. Some shop jack up RM170, ask to reduce "sorry our margin profit is very low"

PC.Fair price is RM145, i'm very regret never bought at PC.Fair cry.gif

can someone put up a faq on the 3rd party firmware for linksys router?

I don't know where to start reading from this 110 pages of post but basically I got a linksys wrtGs version 5. The last I know (6 months ago), they have cracked the version 5 with a DDwrt thing - is that right?

I came across Tomato, Russian etc .. and I am very confused. I need to QoS my housemate who starts using bit torrent 24 hours/day now. Can someone guide me?

1. Good 3rd party firmware for QoS wirelessly
2. Easy to flash
3. Stable
4. Steps / links to flash the firmware.

Thank you in advance.

wooo bro, <500meter on cat5e? how did you managed to run to that distance?
i tested wifi connections between KLCC 40th floor to UOA building in KL distance of more than 2km
using a simple cisco aironet 3500 on 15dbi omni.

so your distance of 500meters on wifi should be ok, but need more details on where you plan to install the
antenna and some photos of your site would be helpful.

wow, your backbone line looks very delicious... icon_idea.gif

solution that i would recommend.

2 APs (AP1 at old branch and AP2 at new branch) doing wireless point to point connection. Both AP using directional -8dBi antenna facing each other. AP1 connected to existing network via cable. New branch's network will get connection from AP2 via cable also. Point to point connection can easily make stable 45mbps link at 500m.

The implementation should be easy if the branches are at line of sight from each other.

for AP you can use linksys or buffalo with dd-wrt, directional antenna as mentioned by azmihamzah is a good choice thumbup.gif
you just have to test for physical LOS and signal attenuation at your site, good luck on your installations
