Hey I have a problem with WRT54G v2.2 with DD-WRT. Not sure this problem is becos of DD-WRT or not. When I got Streamyx at my new place I straightaway flashed with DD-WRT.
The PC sometimes cannot access the router admin page.. it's like it's stuck, or disconnected, Internet doesn't work too. But the wireless status is still connected. I've tried changing some settings as suggested (set 4096, 120, 120 to some variables, I forgot which ones) but it still happens sometimes. I guess this is not Streamyx problem, right? Becos router page also can't access. Normally I would powercycle the router and modem or restart the PC to fix this problem. Normally it works, but sometimes it still doesn't work.
Anybody facing the same problem?

Try reset it to default and reconfigured it :-) i think the problem occurs when someone run p2p it's hard to access the admin page :-)

i've experienced the same thing few times already. there are 2 pcs in my home that run full speed torrent at all time. i've told them (the owner) many times to limit their upload n download but they never listen. now i've blocked all ports ranging from 6k to 60k n surfing has never been better hehehe...
as 4 your problem, just restart the router will solve it.

Not a DD-WRT fan, using HyperWRT.
the timeout and delay when accesing the admin page (and other surfing activities) is caused by a limitation due to the implementation of linksys routers. linksys is known to have long timeout for IP entries visited. in order to shorten the timeout, one would need a startup script:
echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_max echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_echo_ignore_broadcasts echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/icmp_ignore_bogus_error_responses echo 512 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh1 echo 2048 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh2 echo 4096 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/neigh/default/gc_thresh3 echo "600 1800 120 60 120 120 10 60 30 120" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_conntrack_tcp_timeouts
not too sure if DD-WRT supports startup script, anyway if it doesn't, try HyperWRT, u'll be able to find it in Sourceforge.net, the popular open source community.

I am using WRT54G version 5. And is pretty unstable. I can't get any access to the internet or LAN although the wireless icon shows i am connected. Why that happened? Any solution? Thanks in advance.

that 1 u need to personally ask the shopkeeper, since its very hard to get 54G v4 these days i suggest u get the 54GS. not many shops selling also but try checking the prices from the shops at level 3 and all-it store. i really dunno abt current price becos its been months since the last time i went to lowyat.

wrt5GS..just ask them for GS..If its around RM 280-300 , thats it. Some resellers , sell it at a higher price [i.e at RM 360]....Of course if you got that much of money , just get it...To play safe as well , I suggest you to go to linksys info website , they have a guide on how to check the revision/version before buying'em

are u sure that the seller really sell v4? be very cautios becos some ppl really wanna take advantage of current v4 shortage u know. i still think the best option is to get the gs v4 from lowyat or anywhere u can find where u can actually meet the seller in person. last time im also searching for g v4 but instead i ended up buying gs v4 hehehe...

ask him the serial number , if it matches with V4 Serial Number found on linksysinfo , that means its okay...These days , people are taking advantage just to 'increase' the price of WRT54G

the run cd stuff is a wizard mode. it gives u step by step instruction to configure the router (not configure really, just setting up simple things). i dunno to recommend using the cd or not becos i tried it last time it didnt work maybe i set something wrong i dunno. but i still prefer using normal configuration becos can customize a lots of things (also becos my previous router didnt have wizard mode hehehe...)
2b on the safe side, just follow what the manual says.
