some guys in ddwrt forum are discussing abt flashing the v5 with linux firmware. some have success but its not official yet. so do not flash ur v5 yet until the gurus say its safe to do so...
btw rite now my 54gsv4 is running on ddwrt2.3. there's a slight problem with the router time. i've change the time setting several times but it never sync with our time. for example, time rite now is 1.20pm (according to my pc) and the router time shows 5.23am. its 8 hours difference. or do i have to switch off the router? |

nope. all pcs set to dynamic & the lease time is the default value (1440). btw, i read some posts in the ddwrt forum n found out that some of the members are using the latest build of v2.3. i dont know where they get the firmware from....
update: the client table is updated finally. only 2 pcs show up becos their lease time are over. problem solved i guess since i know why it didnt show up b4 this. thanks prasys. This post has been edited by sanosizo: Apr 14 2006, 04:32 PM |

prasys...do u use any of those beta build of v23 sp1? rite now my router is on v23 final and doing fine but i still have problem limiting torrent in my network. i've read a little bit abt traffic control (tc) support in linux n v23 but dunno how to use it. actually i want to give individual bandwidth to each pc so that they have their own bandwidth & dont kacau me when playing online games.
this is what i found... http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/manual/userg.htm but im not a linux nor network expert so this thing This post has been edited by sanosizo: Apr 15 2006, 08:18 PM |

actually the qos didnt work before this becos i dont set the accurate up/download speed of the connection. im on 1mb package but the highest i could get is 750kbps only while the upload max out at 160kpbs. the average download speed is between 650-700. so i set 140/650 and now qos works. btw, when i set 1 of the pc (based on mac address) priority to bulk the pc wont get into internet at all. this is a good punishment to those using bt (bandwidth suckers) without thinking abt others. using ddwrt we can check who's actually sucking the bandwidth by telnetting into the router.
thanks prasys for the site. |

i've experienced the same thing few times already. there are 2 pcs in my home that run full speed torrent at all time. i've told them (the owner) many times to limit their upload n download but they never listen. now i've blocked all ports ranging from 6k to 60k n surfing has never been better hehehe...
as 4 your problem, just restart the router will solve it. This post has been edited by sanosizo: Apr 20 2006, 12:33 PM |

only few shops left selling it i guess. maybe in all i.t or techdos. never buy from the linksys shop (the one with all linksys product 3rd floor if im not mistaken). wrt54gsv4 is a router only. price shud be between 260 - 280

that 1 u need to personally ask the shopkeeper, since its very hard to get 54G v4 these days i suggest u get the 54GS. not many shops selling also but try checking the prices from the shops at level 3 and all-it store. i really dunno abt current price becos its been months since the last time i went to lowyat.

are u sure that the seller really sell v4? be very cautios becos some ppl really wanna take advantage of current v4 shortage u know. i still think the best option is to get the gs v4 from lowyat or anywhere u can find where u can actually meet the seller in person. last time im also searching for g v4 but instead i ended up buying gs v4 hehehe...

the run cd stuff is a wizard mode. it gives u step by step instruction to configure the router (not configure really, just setting up simple things). i dunno to recommend using the cd or not becos i tried it last time it didnt work maybe i set something wrong i dunno. but i still prefer using normal configuration becos can customize a lots of things (also becos my previous router didnt have wizard mode hehehe...)
2b on the safe side, just follow what the manual says. This post has been edited by sanosizo: Apr 22 2006, 02:15 PM |

priority for gaming only works if u play these games...
Counterstrike Age Of Empires Diablo 2 Everquest Halflife Quake2 Quake3 Unreal Tournament Return To Castle Wolfenstein so if u play other mmorpg do not enable this option. the router usually do a slight refresh process and sometime reboot itself after we make changes in the configuration. if u use wireless then the connection will be lost for a short time maybe arnd 10sec be4 u can xs the router again. if u still couldnt xs the router then restart the router manually by switching it off n on again. |
