You have very good chance. You can apply as field engineer. All offshore facilities have HVAC systems. However I'm not sure which company supply HVAC systems for the OnG industry.

Either way is possible, whether operators or service co. Service co would be advantageous since they are very specific to the products/services that they are providing, where else in operators, HVAC alone would be hard to sell..
3 yrs exp is borderline between exp hire and graduate for some operators that i know..

I'm guessing something along: Salesman equivalent except u must have at least some engineering knowledge to answer what client wants regarding the product being offered cause these products are simply not ordinary household items which u can just get away by saying "I'm just selling the product, u have to ask the guy who invented this" or "more info in XXX.com".

Actually mostly the other way around. U travel to the clients office and do presentation. Or is it another title?

Well, if youre based in the right location (aka countries where oilfield services is expensive and numerous) you can own a nice yacht as a sales engineer. Nuff said.

Suppose I'm aiming for safety part or QA/QC on offshore, which NIOSH training programmes I should focus on getting ? Don't want to end up getting any safety cert but then no use or not related to any offshore environment

Every offshore platform uses gas turbines for power generation and as mechanical drive for export compression. Deleum/Delcom deals with Solar turbines.. and almost 90% of platforms in malaysia are "Solar" powered regardless of company.

a very good reading material for those who want to join or has just joined the o&g industry.

http://bit.ly/ZlyC3

http://www.scribd.com/doc/2336259/ABB-Oil-...ction-Hand-Book

or just google "OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION HANDBOOK"

QUOTE
PREFACE
This handbook is has been compiled to give readers with an interested in the oil and
gas production industry an overview of the main processes and equipment. When I
started to search for a suitable introduction to be used for new engineers, I
discovered that much of this equipment is described in standards, equipment manuals
and project documentation. But little material was found to quickly give the reader
an overview of the entire upstream area, while still preserving enough detail to let the
engineer get an appreciation of the main characteristics and design issues.,
This book is by no means a comprehensive description on the detailed design of any
part of this process, and many details have been omitted in the interest of overview. I
have included some comments on the control issues, since that is part of my own
background. For the same reason, the description will be somewhat biased toward
the offshore installations.
The material has been compiled form various online sources as well as ABB and
customer documents. I am thankful to my colleagues in the industry for providing
valuable input, in particular Erik Solbu of Norsk Hydro for the Njord process and
valuable comments. I have included many photos to give the reader an impression
what typical facilities or equipment look like. Non-ABB photo source given below
picture other pictures and illustrations are ABB.

wow thanks, that's alot of reading for me o_o; i have a relative that's starting an oil company that me and my bro are being dragged into. Honestly not interested since it's a MILLION MILES away from my actual field which is designing but I hate to not know what/where/how we will be working there.
