hye guys, my sis has saga FLX bought for 6-7 months already. suddenly last night while she driving her car stops and cannot start. and we checked theres' a licking from the bottom part. and the engine oil zero already. no oil at all. so i called mechanic he said that it will cost around 2k. is it true?? how liawwwww. plz help me guys!

cannot claim warranty? why?

Why should you bare the cost? Lodge a report to SC.

If the car's oil sump has been hit underneath (going over something sharp, or curb) might cause the leakage. This scenario cannot go for warranty.

If oil seals leaking, definitely will be able to claim warranty.

Every time car breakdown, try not to consult a freelance mechanic. Call ur insurance agent and tow it for free to the service centre. From service centre, they can claim for warranty for free.

change new piston and rings...just like a major overhaul!

Yes, engine oil also free.

Up till 60, 000 km if i remember correctly.

Or was it 50, 000 km.

Cant remember if the 60, 000km is for the 3 series or the inspira, but its around there.

i send my flx for 1st service last week, still need to pay for engine oil and something else i cant remember. rm1xx. labour charge free if i not mistaken.



TS, just sent your car for proton sc and file it under complaints.
no need headache scared kena tipu by outsider...

The things u can do for temporary 'relief' are top up the oil and try to start, if the car starts, good, check the leaking rate, drive straight to sc for repair. Do not consult 3rd party mechanic while the car is under warranty.

If cannot start, then this is bad, she could have blown the pistons or worst the whole engine block, that explains the ever rising cost. Still try tow it back to sc for repair. There will be a lot of questions asked but at least it's worth a try. Otherwise u gotta bear it all the cost at 3rd party mechanic. Might get 'chopped up' kaw kaw as well since obviously u n your sis seems to know nuts nor care about car.

Lastly but not the least pay attention, listen and follow the service booklet given with the new car.

Whatever it is outside mechanics always try to charge Kaw Kaw. If send to proton sc, at least it is cheaper. Trust me, it's cheaper coz they know the problem. Outside mechanic knows nothing and they will try to change everything.

So follow these steps for resolution.

1. Call Proton.
2. Ask Proton to send tow truck.
3. Call Insurance Company. (DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT TELL ANYONE YOU DIDNT SEND CAR FOR SERVICE) Just say car got problem.
3. Get quotation from Proton. Let insurance company settle with them.
4. Scold your sister for being a dumb b****

engine oil cannot simply2 empty itself especially if its a new car. my guess, the owner sent to pokok cherry workshop, they did work cincai2 not fastening back the engine sump oil nut tightly until got leakage. after a few months, engine oil gone completely. then I assume she ignored all the warning lights on her car, if not the problem could have been avoided earlier.

kindly send to sc for checking 1st.. dont keep asking 2k doesnt make sense... u havent let ppl check thn keep asking 2k 2k 2k worth or not...

This is a good step...try buy engine oil, topup, see the leakage & try to start. If dont work for the 1st time dont crank for 2nd time.

Mana ade. They look at your service booklet for record and stamp only. One SC would not know what you did in another SC, they only have record of their own customers.

If you have good relations with an authorized SC, you can get them to stamp your booklet to keep your warranty.

i told my gf when she get her own saga..dont skip regular service. thats the price of owning a car. i teach her how to maintain tyre pressure..wash her car..bla3. she never question me whenever i suggest her to service this and that (according to service manual of course).

Just do like what other forumers say, refer to the proton SC and try sweet talk them to still allow warranty.

I'm using FLX as well and about the same age as ur sister's.It havent give me any problem and I enjoyed driving it.Reading how irresponsible she treat her car makes me feel heart ache already... .zzz

erm, maybe u shud send ur car to prtn branch to examine. They can rebuild the engine, n i think the cost will be lower than 11k. Only need to replace worn part, not the whole engine.

Another option, of course, half cut. But i just recommend on rebuild part@overhaul coz i think it will be at lower cost n no need to think about matching the new gbox with the car(many things need to modify to take diff gbox that come with halfcut engine). N if ur sister own cvt flx@even getrag manual, hard to sell coz for the moment, its only for prtn flx n preve. If buy diff engine, cant just simply bolt the old gbox. So,its a waste then.Why pomen outside recommend change engine i think , whether they dont have the part, expertise@it is easier to sell new engine, less work, more money, ratherthan repairing, less money.

N another note, whether either transplant new engine or rebuild the old one, need to advise ur sister to follow the service maintenance schedule n rules n also service it at appropriate workshop, if not, it will be the same after 7 month.

im sure the car ecu will warn the car if it is running in low engine oil..

if the oil filter not the original/chepo..it may tend to leak etc..or oil sump prob i dunno..

no point...as things already happen..

btw..send ur car proton for further checking and diagnose.. get quotation from other mechanic as well..

always...survey..survey....survey...don't trust only one mechanic unless already hav long relationship with him/etc..

the car cannot start then don't force it...tow ur car...

RULE NUMBER 1 AFTER BUY UR CAR IS REMEMBER SERVICE UR DAMM CAR

Since the car refused to start anymore after stalling, I believe the engine has welded itself beyond normal repair. Full rebuild is expensive, swapping engine can be a good remedy. Expensive to pay for being insensitive. You can feel and hear the engine before it welds itself.

this is WHY u should service at SC for at least the 1st 20k KM
not only to see what they change during the course
this will also to make sure that your car's engine and GB have no problem
and other part that faulty during that period also can be replaced for free
AND THIS APPLIES TO ANY BRAND OF CARS

If you need the car fast, just swap the engine, but not sure what's the price/where to source.

For preventive action, check the car weekly during weekends, to observe the coolant/engine oil/transmission luid/power steering fluid/brake fluid level. Send to service center/workshop (if lazy/don't know how to debug/fix) when seeing abnormal change.

Err... no engine oil indicator/warning in saga flx?

no engine oil also can start one,

but with more internal damage,

just see underneath the car and spot where the exactly leakage place.
