Any Ne Zha hype around here?

I still don't understand the hype, but people are going crazy about it and it's my first time seeing a film having so many showtime in cinema, it's insane.

Lol. Someone is having a fun time with IRL stuff HAHAHA. I've chosen to skip Captain America BNW as the reviews showed it was mixed bag. I kinda expected it cause of the news prior about the movie having tons of reshoots and how the marketing of it was very weak like Marvel/Disney themselves are embarrassed of this film. Marvel imo needs to start respecting their ips and heroes' personal stories, rather than trying to set up another overarching story like the infinity stones, an attempt to still chase after that billions of dollars of box office per film, instead of following a proper pace to cool off first, then set everything up.

Look at Spiderman NWH. While setting up the multiverse, it was still a very isolated and personal story arc for Peter's growth. Give me more of this, fuck, give me more stuff like The Batman (rip release date. Gotta wait 2 more years for sequel AHHHH).

Same with Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness. Could have been a more reflective story of Stephen Strange's character, dealing with the fallout of Infinity War and End Game. He's a major reason to a lot of the sacrifices that happened as he saw the outcomes and chose this 1 way which was still tragic. Could have gotten a story arc where he has to deal with his new, daunting responsibility as the Sorcerer Supreme (or at least soon to be), which then he slowly adapts to his character of the comics: a morally grey character who has to make extremely difficult choices for the greater good.

Man... Sorry, there are currently a few superhero stories that aren't Marvel or DC that I have been watching that really do justice to their characters without having the shame of being a comic book adaptation. To see Marvel fumble this hard (for DC, they never even got off the ground properly, so please James Gunn, save DC. I'm a DC fan and these the characters there deserve justice) is so disappointing considering how well they did things prior by respecting their source material (for the most part). Now, they are just adapting their heroes loosely just so they can set up the next big event that can bring in gagillions of dollars.

Ok. Marvel rant over. I'm actually planning to watch Companion instead in KLCC's DA hall, but haven't found the time to do so. In any case, yeah, IRL geo-political stuff is concerning but I'm also figuring my life out with work and other responsibilities. Hopefully world events stuff get sort out but a lot of it is beyond our power. Stay safe out there yall.

Yes, easily the best animated film of all time. good storytelling, jokes, emotional moments and tons of actions (the CGI is jaw dropping!)

Need to watch first movie before watching this?

Quick thing, after 2 months of waiting, Nosferatu is finally airing in Malaysia and man was it good. Watched it in TGV Velocity normal hall and man, the projector is kinda ass haha. It's not bright enough in certain locations and some scenes with light in them are muddy/grainy (maybe fits with the old school style for filming, but overall to me, looked quite low resolution).

I'm hoping I can find the time to watch this again but in Tropicana Gardens... I mean, IOI Damansara's GSC Onyx DA for that crisp image quality. The film has amazing audio work and definitely may shine in a DA hall if optimised well there.

Higgly recommended to check this film out and other Robert Eggers films if you want something atmospheric, immersive and mind-twisting. Nosferatu's story compared to earlier Egger films is quite straightforward, but the acting, atmosphere, character depth and execution makes it really worthwhile. Amazing cinematography as well.

Fun fact, the film is in a tall aspect ratio of 1.66:1, so my screening had the letterbox at the left and right sides of the film instead of top and bottom. It was quite unique honestly... Now imagine if this was aired in IMAX instead... God, the tall aspect ratio and that sound design? Damn.

I was hoping Dune 2 to win Best Pictures at Oscar and get a rerun in IMAX, then I will get to experience my lifetime dream of watching Dune in 1:43 aspect..

But I guess Mickey 17 in Dolby Cinema is not bad! (Parasite is my number 1 favorite movie of all time - I even own the official storyboard book hahah)

Same. Just watched it last night, I kinda understand the hype now, it was animated really really well, tho I didn't like the pacing/directing, it was kinda melodramatic in some parts and some action scenes while superbly done felt too drawn out. Too flashy. That said, it's still a good watch, and also proof that China's really stepping up in their animation department.

Craziest thing for me is that the film owner of NZ2 doesn't allow for any discounts & promotion price tho, They even have pop ups in GSC app saying this when you make payment for the tickets. I wonder if it's really expensive for GSC to bring it in and they're trying to recoup back their cost or something, hence the crazy amount of showtimes. Or it is just that hyped lol.

Any news on gsc 1 utama renovation? Will they install an imax hall?

I followed one of the british guy on Instagram and this is exactly what TGV and GSC should do to let people know about the screening time.

Instead of upgrading into fancy cinema halls and environment, how about making it more practical to customer.

If my memory is correct, TGV at Pavilion Bukit Jalil has some informative screen outside cinema halls. I really love it too

Maybe that cinema has it as it was previously built by DADI Cinema, before TGV tookover

Guys go watch Sinners in an IMAX hall.

The film uses 2:71 aspect ratio (wider than most movies) and IMAX aspect ratio - but where it really shines is the IMAX scenes.

The IMAX scenes are beautiful and the sound and music is one of the best (composed by Tenet, Oppenheimer Ludwig Goransson).

However due to the 2.71 scenes, there will be serious letterboxing, black bars at the top and bottom, especially at tall screens like the one at Velocity IMAX. Personally watched it at IOI City, which is a wide 1:90 screen so the black bars are still ok.

Also try watch in a Laser hall, as some scenes are quite dark so I think non-Laser hall might suffer

I like the use of the aspect ratio here where the longer 2.71:1 scenes are used for intimate and dramatic moments for characters, then into the tall 1.9:1 scenes for the spectacle. I'm hoping to watch this film one more time before it's removed from IMAX for Thunderbolts. This film is seriously so much fun to watch haha; stylish, charming and basically a celebration of cultures.

Wanted to watch Sinner again, but contemplating whether to watch in Velocity or Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Usually Velocity is the easy choice, but Sinner is a bit tricky with its 2.71 aspect ratio.
