Like Aimank said, paddlefish would be nice, or sturgeon.

Unrelated, but this photo is too awesome. Nature's aquarium.

Lungfish not gonna be easy to get, plus its gonna hurt ur pocket too!

A school of piranhas look awesome, but requiring a large space, of course.

Above all, i was mesmerized by the last picture in spoiler. No matter how hard we try to imitate beauty and decorate our tanks, Nature still owns the best aquarium blink.gif

Tail biting in territory fight. Aragorn should know his territory in the surface, but he always swoops down to assault Franky. Its not too vicious but i'm thinking of a tunnel for him to hide or rest in. I dont like resin type decoration cuz it is hard and may harm the monster fishes.

Mr. Amano has the best job in the world.
Planted tanks look great to house monster fish.

By the way, do any of you have problems with your monsters? Do they "redecorate" the tank?
Mine has uprooted all the plastic plants, pulled off the ones I secured to the driftwood and moved the stones about the tank. It even moved the foot long air stone.  rclxub.gif
Is it possible to make it stop doing that?
Redecoration hasnt been much problem for me, since i remove my FRT from aquarium. But the problem continues in his new tank, so i dont put much decoration in there.

Couldnt be sound or gas. Oscars cant sing or fart, unless u keep spongebob squarepants in aquarium.

Okay.. not funny.

Im new hera .... hope will get some information from here .... i hav 2x 8" channa micropeltes @ giant snakehead (toman harimau) , 2x 6" channa marulioides @ toman bunga, 1x 14" gar, 2x 8" redtail catfish, 1x sub adult channa gachua & 50x young 2" channa gachua, 3 adult 1ft channa lucius (bujuk) & 1 young 4" bujuk, and 7x 3" pacu.
Hey monster fish collector icon_rolleyes.gif Maybe u should consider a fibreglass tank, as a quick solution?

Me i've been eyeing for it for quite some time.

- A LFS owner offered me a second hand tank for rm900, with delivery. Size 8x4x3' with one side glass.

- Called Raymond to ask for his price, on the same spec. New tank only costs rm1k, but sadly delivery to my place costs half of the item price, which sums up to rm1500 sad.gif Still very reasonable compared to LFS here, which quotes 2000-3000 including delivery. And one more thing is, Raymond is such a frenly guy, most recommended.

- Surfing around, found a second hand tank from mudah.my. But again, too far and transportation cost sad.gif

Sad news....
I was away on a company trip and when I returned home last Thursday, my parents told me that my tank was leaking.

The poor fish had to be transferred back into the 4ft tank. It seemed pretty upset.

There is no repairing the tank. I got it second hand and I guess the silicon had dried up and all. So I had to order a new tank.

Damn it.

Please be careful when buying secondhand tanks, that's all I can say.
Really sorry to hear that. Why u said 'no repairing', is it that u dont want to repair it on purpose? Cuz i think if its just joint leaking, still can re-silicon it. The cost wont be as much as replacing new glass, if its only re-silliconing.

I remember my mom used to apply new side glass of her old aquarium, years ago when i was a child. In her case, she just sent the tank (a lot easier cuz only 3 footer) to an alum-glass shop and got them fix it.

Above all, i know its really a pain dealing with giant size tank, especially the weight and fragility. Thats why i prefer plastic or fibreglass tank for outdoor use. But dont worry la, u have our support, morally at least.

Maybe the tiny ones just let big fish eat. Better reuse then let it go to waste.
My LFS dont appreciate nice fishes. Coz the audience all want cheap fish, and not willing to do it right.
No point let my polys live without meaning.
Yeah most LFS are like that.. now hard to sell costly ones.. not many ppl willing to take responsibility, while we striving to add more space (and tanks!) for our desire sweat.gif

I am new here guys. my brother ask me to check out this post since im into fishkeeping. i am currently having a 2ft tank with 1 gar, 1 shovelnose, 1 black ghost, and 1 dbkl (not sure it's real name). thinking of upgrading to a 3/4ft tank but still no budget. ahha ahha  sweat.gif hoping to learn more from all u senior monster and primitive fish keeper.
Hi there. Welcome.

Things will get more lively and fresh if u can provide pics (or even vids) of ur tank. BTW the normal dbkl black fish is called pleco (plecostomus) in general. Got many types of plecos under this species. Lots of info from the net, wiki also got http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plecostomus

Happy reading icon_rolleyes.gif

*Honestly ur tank is too small for the gar. U'll need a bigger tank in no time soon, bro.

Guys, i noticed lots of arowana fans having phoenix/ / fei feng/ flagtail fish as tankmates. Googling around, some ppl said that it was a good combo based on feng shui, something like this :

QUOTE
'dragon + phoenix' for feng shui..
good for luck. (man si soon li - in cantonese)

'dragon+tiger(siamese)+phoenix..
good for biz

'dragon+phoenix+tiger+shelter...
good for family
