Impossible bcos Bank Negara current rate is 39.32 (Market & lowest in M'sia but not for us) and wawasan, One of the best in M'sia) selling at 39.90. So the best you can get Today at Bkt Bintang is about 39.80 or 39.70

Compare. All within walking distance..It's just like the price war by Hypermarket..certain currenies, MC1 might be cheaper but certain currencies, MC2 better..so just compare-lah.. Wawasan mid Valley is the yardstick

Don't take risk. M'sian Ringgit is not well traded in lotsa countries. And if you can find, the rate there will be worst than what you will be getting here.
If you don't want to bring Yuan, you can change to US$ 1st. More wellknown & better rated currencies everywhere

One is buying & another selling lor.
Meaning they are buying Thai Bath for you for RM9.9XX for every 1ooBath and they are selling That Bath to you for every 100baht at RM10.15. ANyway, it is imposiblle to do that in bank Negara. The best is via bganks & money changers.

You can ask them why.. & maybe they allow you if you can walk in to bank Negara and if they ever hv any counter there In Hatyai, you can use RM..much better 1 to 1. Right now the diff between RM Buy & Sell for Thai baht getting narrow & no need to waste your time 7 effort to change to US$ 1st & thereafter Thai baht..If worry, justy change in any money changer in KL can dy.. QUOTE(Jo1603 @ Feb 18 2011, 11:43 AM) Why impossible to do so in Bank Negara? First time exhanging currency XD hehe~ Would be recomended to chagne to USD here and go over to Hatyai to change to THB or I should just change my THB straight? Thank you

For Taiwan, try to change to US$ 1st & thereafter at the Taipei airport switch back to NT$..rate everywhere in M'sia for NTD very bad..Market rate qouted by Bank Negara only 10.3 right now and you will be losing RM0.43 straight away... QUOTE(babygirl55 @ Mar 1 2011, 03:41 PM) Hi I am going to Taiwan soon. I see Wawasan sentosa. NT$100 = RM10.73 Any lower prices in other exchange shops? TQ

Yes it's better but the risk of certain ATM don't accept certain card is high..Better prepare cash rather than taking risk. I tried using Maybank ATM at Seoul but failed. QUOTE(@lowyat @ Mar 23 2011, 05:33 PM) withdraw from ATM is better.

Some Money changer do accept but why? You will be subject to cash advance fee by CC co and also additional 2-3% CC charge by the money changer

Unless you have lotsa US$ to change and in big denomination, no point searching for the best bcos 3.00 already much better than 3.01 by wawasan.
Anyway currently all Money changer imposed big denomination of US$50 and above to get 3.00 or 3.01 as per Today rate.
If you hv smaller than US$50, diff rate dy

Yes, to Macau, need not change any pataca. HK$ is 100% valid and almost same amt as HK$. However I'm not sure whether RMB can be used bcos there is an obvious diff in value

NT$ everywhere in M'sia also very bad rate lah. If you want to save ~ RM30-RM40 for each RM1000 you converted, better buy US$ & change to NT$ at Taiwan airport. Otherwise, withdraw there using your ATM or credit card. better than any local money changers QUOTE(@lice~~ @ May 4 2011, 02:52 PM) Anyone working at KLCC or shopping there, can help to check the rate for TWD? Hehe.. thanks..

Getting the lowest might not be a good choice after you consider the time, fuel & even parking going to the best money changers in Penang. QUOTE(tgrrr @ May 18 2011, 09:09 PM) Anybody knows where is the best place to exchange USD in Penang Island? Just bought some last weekend at Queensbay Mall @ 3.01. I always change there coz convenient, though am wondering if there are better rates elsewhere and by how much?

US$3.01 is actually goot dy..Even Wawasan (One of the cheapest in KL) also qouted this rate Today: http://www.wawasanmoneychanger.com.my/exchangeRates.asp If you able to find lower, It will not be as low as RM2.95..The best based on Wawasan Today probably Rm2.99 in Kl..at this rate..try to make abit of calculation..Let say you change US$1000..The different between RM3010 to RM2990 only RM20. Is it worth going all the way let say 20km away to get the rate spending RM5 for fuel & another RM5 for parking and not to mention the jam & time wasted? QUOTE(tgrrr @ May 19 2011, 10:13 AM) I know, I hate the bad traffic situation in Penang. Not to mention the inconsiderate drivers. Just trying to find out the painless way i.e. online, if there are really much better rates out there and whether the amount of effort expended is worth it.

That link is from the most famous money changer in KL and one of the cheapest in town ..well most of the time, it's the cheapest. You can't comapre to yahoo rate because that's is market rate. Those money changers also traded and buying from money market. and only Bank Negara can give that closest rate.. Impossible to get that in whole M'sia..Based on what yahoo rate..it's even more tough to get anything lower than RM3. unlss US$ going down again just like b4 Osama got killed QUOTE(tgrrr @ May 19 2011, 06:30 PM) Nah I don't think the 3.01 I got is good. That's on the 14th (Sat), where according to Yahoo, the exchange rate closed at 3.0087. Anyway the link you gave looks useful, will check on it next time, thanks!

Indonesian rupiah is well traded here in M'sia..almost to market value. No point changing to US$ 1st as you will loss on double commission for sure.
Only change to US$ 1st if the diff between Money changer & market rate really huge..for eg..Taiwan $, Vietnamese Dong, Phillipine peso & etc
