One thing about the 808 PureView, the 38MP resolution @ 4:3 and lossless zoom.
Last week there was heavy flood near my office, I was able to capture full resolution and crop with amazing detail, and when using 3MP, I was able to zoom really far and the image capture detail is still very good.
When I share it among my colleagues, they were amazed and those that didn't know I have the PureView, actually asked whether I brought my camera to capture it.

I tried taking it with the S3, without zoom, when crop, it looks like CCTV low res video footage. That's not so bad yet, when I use digital zoom, that's when it gets REALLY bad...

So, I must say, the 808 PureView is very a unique camera smartphone!  Really appreciate the high megapixel with good detail captured and the amazing lossless zoom (if you compared with another phone camera digital zoom, Gosh, the difference is just,... too far apart!)

Not an exact comparison, but see how bad the S3 when using Digital Zoom...

S3 (8MP, Digital Zoom, 100% Crop and resize down 70%):

808 (3.1MP PureView Full Zoom, 100% Crop):

Supposedly Phase 2 should be Phase 1 technology + Optical Stabilizer, but due to the adoption of Windows Phone OS with it's restrictions and rushing to introduce a Lumia Pureview, it has to drop Phase 1 out.
Just imagine if they were able to actually introduce a real Phase 2 (which means Phase 1 + Optical Stabilizastion) instead of a NEW Phase.......

Symbian is gone, thats a fact. It has been decided by the Nokia board before elop joined nokia. Only he accelerate the pace on dumping symbian.

I guess 808 PV will be my last symbian phone, hope it can last me another 2-3 years.

The sad fact is Nokia spent so much money to purchase Navtaq company and further develop Nokia maps exclusively just for Nokia. With Windows phone, now people are able to hack Nokia map and make it available to all windows phone.

For the lates Belle refresh updates, the Accenture team make the updates available for everyone through Nokia suites update instead of waiting for the telecommunication company lengthy process to approve it.

Based on the interview with them, it will be the last updates for Symbian, so long for elop promise they will maintain symbian to 2016.

Hack? I thought it's officially available for Windows Phone 8, as their built in Maps.
Only Nokia Drive is Nokia exclusive... FOR NOW...
Or do you mean they hack Nokia Drive? If yes, nothing to be surprised of, it's bound to happen.

definitely! 41mp is a long way to go for other company to achieve it. Nokia is the best in imagery, and that everyone can't even deny even an ounce from it! rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

Symbian Belle is still a much better OS than WP7.5 or WP8 with more power and more features. Even if it is not improved any more it will still take years for WP to catch up if ever. But the snag is that developers are no longer interested in developing for Symbian so you have to be satisfied with a stagnant app store.
