i ws thinking this for quite a while ..
since all high lvl gems wont be dropped can must be crafted .

why is the price in AH for gems is lower than crafting it yourself ?
nobody will sell things lower than production cost , right ?
or am i missing something?

what you're missing is theorycrafter insert gem in weapon and sell for cheap

because theorycrafters here first say many people play then don't play anymore so just insert gem into gear then sell and then quit. (yes for gold too when quitting)

however, things just do not sum up ,,

i understand that some ppl may remove gems from purchased items and sell gems at cheap price .. but if you consider how many of them doing this .. it will not have a sufficient impact in decreasing prices of gems and buyers definitely are more than sellers which sell removed gems..

p/s my 0.02 cents from my noob D3 experience ... or have i overlooked something ?

The manipulation in summary:

1. sell about 10 radiant star gem in ridiculous cheap price (mayb 50% of your cost)
2. open another account directly buy out, if you are lucky, u will buy back at the same price of what you did in #1, or bad luck just get back 9 out of 10 (risk here)
3. you created "last average 10 trade" in super cheap price
4. other player who saw the price is dropping will sell their gem cheaper
5. then you already successfully making the gem price market cheaper
6. buy the cheaper gem in large quantity
7. wait for the price to increase, then sell it
8. repeat the process

P/S: you need good timing and billion of gold to manipulate it
