yup i alredy took considerations into that
what you pay is what you get nowadays
im just scared i hit over quota in first 2 weeks then the rest of the days have to depend on wifi(maxis/celcom)
i dun mind the speed as im used to slow speed  laugh.gif
just wondering since you have a better experience in this
whats the quota usually for just surfing web?(not include youtube and streaming stuff)

Added on October 12, 2012, 9:10 am
i lived in a shit coverage area..mostly because of that huge hill behind my house
digi will suffice of course if maxis can then better
i liked umobile plan but im scared with the coverage
*
1 GB /month is sufficient based just on browsing, emails, facebook, tweeters etc
I sign up 3.5 GB/month with Maxis and usually i use up to 3gb monthly
You pay so much for a powerful phone but than want to use a shitty low download service ???

Theoretically the screen on Note 2 has less PPI compared to Note 1 and S3, but practically for me, I'll say that Note 2 screen blows Note 1 and S3 screen right out of the water. Text are sharper on Note 2. It's much more easier to read text on Note 2!
*
That is due to rearrangement of the pixels to a lesser non pentile display

If the coverage is poor, no matter how powerful your phone is, no matter how good your download service is, you are doomed !

What you say is true for Digi and U Mobile
I'd say Maxis and Celcom you will not faced so serious issues
I have used all these telcos and i travel widely in the country and overseas too. I must say Maxis and Celcom rarely disappoint me

Hi all;
I am new in android phone.
May I know before we purchase what are the things that we need to check besides warranty and Sirim sticker?

besides, I am in doubt whether I should sign up a data plan or purchase the device without plan.
If I sign up a data plan I really afraid that  telco may simply bill @ the end of month.

What u guys think of it?
*
Signing up a data plan is definitely cheaper . Example a 1 GB plan U Mobile is RM 28, Digi RM 38 while Maxis is RM 48 ( these prices maybe not be exact but around this range). If you use 1 GB monthly, pay as you use will cost you RM 100
So see how much is your data needs and decide whether you want to sign up a data plan
The Note 2 has build in feature where you can monitor your data usage and set limit or you can use any 3rd party apps such as data counter widget, 3g watchdog etc to monitor data usage

I think this so called simply bill is a matter of past . It was mainly complains on Maxis. But now Maxis is very efficient - once you hit 80% of your limit, you will get a SMS warning. Ignored it and you exceed you will be charge at 10 sen per 10kb

i dont think it is good idea to purchase from telcos if you are not existing postpaid users. The 24mths contract and total cost is far expensive than the device. Those telcos are not idiot to sell you at cheaper price.

However, if you are already a current dataplan users, by all means go for it. For those who tend to sign up for new, better think twice. Eventually you end up paying more.
*
You are not quite right in saying this
It is cheaper in the long run to buy from telco PROVIDED you need to use that much of data monthly. As you still need to pay for the data plan from any other telco if you purchased the phone separately
It is ONLY EXPENSIVE if you do not need to use that minimum data( say 1GB monthly) as you are committed to pay the fixed RM 38 or RM 48 monthly even if you just use, say only 100 MB data only

How about Hotlink prepaid? Can we use it with sgn2?
*
Yes , you can use any telco prepaid card with it
but be warned prepaid data charges are very expensive vs postpaid . You can easily check hotlink prepaid data rates - it will shock you !! If you need to use data often , sign up for the cheapest data plan from Maxis or any other telco.

Look like the plan is really not worth for anything. Waiting to see Maxis and Celcom
*
Based on past records, I can tell you Maxis and Celcom will NEVER be cheaper than Digi
Perhaps U MObile can possibly be cheaper than Digi ( at least their data plan alone is cheaper already)

true... so need to compare the plan itself... vs coverage... etc...

in my wife's s3 case... we got the plan from u mobile. phone was sold at rm1399. data plan of rm58 for 2 years. it comes with free calls and 2GB data. but i'm actually using the u58 plan now... wife dun need that much data and on her sim card, now using u28... biggrin.gif

the savemoney link i posted earlier do have comprehensive comparisons... from outright purchase (in a way) vs 12 months, 18 months and even 24 months...
*
RIGHT. Do not simply buy from any telco just based on phone pricing
You need to assess :
- your monthly data usage
- the coverage in areas you will likely go to often. Especially if you sign up 2 years, ask yourself what is possibly your data needs and places you would likely to be in 2 years time. As long as you are going to stay put in the usual places for next 2 years it is easy decision. But if you are graduating and starting on a new job or even possibly considering shifting to another place - all these will affect your choice of telcos. This is crucial if you are COST CONSCIOUS but actually un important if cost is not an issue - than just sign up Maxis or Celcom as your data coverage is pretty well covered throughout the country. Example Students in KL or JB especially would love U Mobile as it is cheapest and has very good coverage in KL/JB and its download speeds is way better than Maxis and Celcom. But if they are graduating soon and possibly moving out from KL/JB with a job, they need to consider whether signing up 2 years with U Mobile is a good choice or not

For the matter of fact, we have options. If you sign up with a telcos and later find out their coverage sucks...then you are committed with 24mths and that is a lot of money to pay for a lousy service. If you just buy the phone, then you can choose the best data plan which suit best in terms of coverage and value for money. These are all telcos gimmick to cloud your judgement selling you underprice phone from RRP. Yes very attractive but the plan the bundled along will actually cover or gain far more profit from selling you with that price.

Again, if you buy phone separately, you will not tied with contract, meaning more freedom to jump ship if the service sucks. Telcos are schrewed and they have calculated the ROI when launching the bundle plan. tongue.gif
*
I fully agree with you on these points. That is why I NEVER buy phones from telco with plans. I see no point saving the RM 200-500 for this flexibility

QUOTE(Cynox @ Oct 12 2012, 10:05 AM)
actually for all those like me who are waiting for Maxis and Celcom plan, you can actually reverse calculated the maximum price you will take for contract.

Example for myself:
Buying SME set with 1.5GB data and budgeted RM10 call
RM2,299 + (RM50+RM10) x 12 months = RM3,019

Reversing back with minimum Maxis package:
RM3,019 - (RM30 call + RM68 3GB data) x 12 months = RM1,843.

So i will sign up for 1 year Maxis contract as long as the phone price offered by Maxis is RM1,843 or lower.  As soon as Maxis announce their phone price, if there is no significant in the package they bundle, i can know whether i should go for SME/AP without contract or sign contract with Maxis.  tongue.gif

Good point to note guys. Anyway, what is best rate that you all get for grey AP Set of Note 2?
*
Some one quoted RM 1995 yesterday. Never check the prices since got the phone but it seems to change every day. Even at RM 2099 i'd say is a very good buy considering SME is retailing RM 2299

Based on Digi past practices NO but you can buy from all Celcom and even some Maxis outlets without contract
But still too early to know
You try call your nearest Digi center and ask them

*
You are limited to only 100mb per day for rm2
Good only browsing, email , feeds not for video download or rom downloads
Guardia thanks for hotlink update. Last I used never have such data plans yet

Basically i dont see any significant difference with stock rom
the stock rom is already very good - it is tough to improve it unlike previous Samsung ICS stock roms on the Note
I install it mainly because it is deodexed and i need deodex rom to change the homescreen grid from 4x4 to 5x6

Any idea on Note 2 AP Set with warranty coverage from SLink. Is it reliable company?
http://www.s-link.com.my/main/contact-us.html
*
I read somewhere in this thread here they give only 1 year warranty for AP sets while its competitor Brandstar ( through sellers directd, satugadget) gives 2 year warranty at about similar prices

Any1 have underclock/ undervolt (vice-versa) on their note2? i remember i done it on my sgs2 previously to lower the idle clock to preserve battery usage.

can be done with using tegra overclock iinm.
*
No need even to undervolt/underclock - by default the battery life is amazing - it is easily 2-3 times that of Note, S3 and 4 times that of S2

Since stock rom is already good, might want to stick to as stock as possible sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
Not all bloatware - didn't really notice what was removed as i still need to uninstall several of them using Titanium
The 5X6 mod you need to flash a separate mod - you can flash it immediately after flashing Wannamlite
