Well my opinion is simple. Buying a fixed blade knife can only use for jungle purpose. Cannot carry around as a handy tool, especially during working on site and short period outdoor activity. Carrying a fixed blade in public will cause havoc.

As what marcus said, folders is more suitable in urban. I totally agree with victor_code47 on folders being portable and its an advantage too.

hmmmmm....... lightings? Like Flashlight? Can get a Surefire L1 cheap? Just curious that's all. Surefire in our country costs a BOMB!

Anyway, can you import fixed knives? Most knife collectors prefer folders than fixed knives. Me? I like 'em both as both of 'em have their pros & contras. Guys, wanna talk about it?

you guys seem to love the mass marketed crap. check out CR Knives, the Sebenza is a real folding knife, make the rest look like toys. i'd love to have one.

Well its all a matter of economics. Of course ALL of us here would love ot have a Chris Reeve knife, and why not a custom. but realities here, to us the Chris REeve Custom is definately somehwat of a holy grail of collectiing (no well i hear the Moran custom, now unattainable, would be that)
And i would say not many of us here have a very extensive knife collection (well, i dont..) mostly users and crap folders (but hey Opinels are hand assembled adn polished eh? rolleyes.gif ).

Lets see, post publicly, seth, how much would it be for you to get us a "basic" Sebenza or Mnandi? or Green Beret(do they still sell em?)?

noneltheless yes no one here wiht the resources and the interest would push a CR knife aside haha

thanks for posting, and to all, welcome to the bleeding Edge Thread, i think that your thread is well born enough eh, seth?

valid points marcus, we all love to drive ferraris but we have to make do with kancils. the sebenza will set you back for at least RM1k minimum. still, much more affordable than the ferrari.

what i'm trying to say is that, you guys should look at the better knives out there. and the sebenza isn't really a collector's knife, sebenza means work in Zulu. its a working knife smile.gif

AAAAhhhhhhh yessss... Sebenza.... Nice thumbup.gif .

Good points you got there guys. And yes, I know that most of us buy those production level knives but as you can see, that is all most of us can afford and attain. From what i've read, sebenza is a good tool for any kind of situation. There's a lot of good custom/production knife out there (Not in Malaysia of course) such as krein knives, falkniven, carson knives, bob dozier knives, etc. but as you can see we can only dream of acquiring those guys.

As Marcus would put it 'Well its all a matter of economics'. Some can get 'em through the Internet but some can't 'cause of monetary problem. Most guys do know about the custom knife that are available for the high-end buyer and most of them are like myself... Can only DROOL over them drool.gif .

So, which knives do you prefer Jason? Share to share with us?

hi guys. check this folder out.

Attached Image

This is a production by a bladesmith named Greg Lightfoot (not bigfoot tongue.gif ). It gonna cost u a fortune for this, USD495.00 (RM1881.00 not including S/H cost). U can say that this is my dream ferrari at the moment.

For more details, check out his website, http://www.lightfootknives.com/.

Cheers, smile.gif

fixed blades i guess cos they are less practical than Folders... not at all worht the urban carry as we are used to, and if they do most malaysians opt for the easily replacable parang than a USD 500 custom
not that i have see one...

i handled a spydercard (discontinued) before back then i didnt like the spyderedge. now i regret not picking it up just cos the shopkeeper was slightly rude dammit

BTW Swaye, Balisongs: if you read Tactial Blades/Knives (there is a flip through copy in Borders Time Square, heheh) they have an article on Ultimate balisong with proper grips at the side and slippy handles and S grind grips and whatnot. I personally dont do the balisong thing cos firstly i cant handle the whole non lock thing and that utilitairian wise its hard to reason... moreso secondly i cannot flip without looking like a fool. basic windmill is my "trick" heheh

Got back. either ways Yes the Sebenza is a work tool i know that it means Work yes. Why does the leatherman hold a bad edge which one do you have and what blade steel does it use>? the new ones use 154CM steel (at least the better ones) and that rarely gets complaints.
TCE sports in Sunway has a Big, albeit pricier than it should be, Selection of Multitools (well Victorionoxes and Leatherman(s) no SOGs or anything else) try the Swisstool Spirit. Everyone says that its the best now but i have problems wiht the blade attached (waved wharncliffe rectangle thing) and its on offer. I am eyeing that Leatherman Charge Ti. looks good and useful tools instead of the ones that are redundant (i dont think i need 15 sizes or screwdrivers attached to a multitool) eventually the one you will need fits the screwdriver you left at home

sugarboi: i have that balisong, wanted to test out flipping on a basic butterfly so i took that in used it so it got nice and blunt then taped the edge and now look at instructions at balisongxtreme.com as to HOW to flip

Seonghoon: didnt lightfoot make knives for SOG before?

Just wanna know: Do you actually use the knife from your multitools? Or do you use the knives that you have. biggrin.gif

I can see that there's a lot of guys around here that owns a balisong. I don't have the oppurtunity to own one since i kept forgetting to buy 'em doh.gif . Oh well, sooner or later I'm going to remember to buy it and when I do.....LOOK OUT MY FINGERS! There's some abusing comin your way. sweat.gif

otherwise i carry a Single blade knife, Spyderco or Opinel. Victorionox if i am gonna be around people that are not understandin to knives. as it is the most non-knife people friendly knife
