fine let be be the first to reply to this thread.
my recent knife was teh standard spyderco calypso jr with grey handle

handles well, blade thickness fits goood, with the blade geometry, cutting is way easy. not quite used to the tip down carry but it has its benefits ie, lint doesnt collect in the joint because the joint is facing up not downwards towards the bottom of the pocket where lint collects
size is nicely while being large enough to handle as a kitchen tool and folds niecly into slightly over 4cm. so its not rediculously small to use while not being scary huge ie manix

thanks
marcus

whoa cha! the benchmades! dem looking good! wanna see how my benchmite II performs before i actually make my opinion on benchmade
the current situation is
is it too much hype and too little performance?

want the physical product to judge

anyone got first hand exprience with BMs?
another brand i am curious about is Al Mar anyone handled one before?

Okay fine lets do something constructive. everyone here i would say knows or at least has thought of what knives he targets and wants. well post it
this is considering of course, price legality and awhatnot
for me
in no particular order (production models)
-benchmade 690
-J.Adams MOD knife
-J.Adams 3 piece british clasp knife (www.sheffieldknives.co.uk)
-Al Mar Eagle and SLB
-BKT7
-the Korsar by some russian company (I can read german but I cant find the manufacturers name here)
-Fallkniven F1 and U2 and TK 1,2,3,4
-Boeker Ceramik Zeta
- and a douk douk
- and a higonokami
- why not some extrema ratio knives? Col Mohsin or shrapnel

thats all i can come up with. now lets see what you got...

fixed blades i guess cos they are less practical than Folders... not at all worht the urban carry as we are used to, and if they do most malaysians opt for the easily replacable parang than a USD 500 custom
not that i have see one...

i handled a spydercard (discontinued) before back then i didnt like the spyderedge. now i regret not picking it up just cos the shopkeeper was slightly rude dammit

BTW Swaye, Balisongs: if you read Tactial Blades/Knives (there is a flip through copy in Borders Time Square, heheh) they have an article on Ultimate balisong with proper grips at the side and slippy handles and S grind grips and whatnot. I personally dont do the balisong thing cos firstly i cant handle the whole non lock thing and that utilitairian wise its hard to reason... moreso secondly i cannot flip without looking like a fool. basic windmill is my "trick" heheh

Well its all a matter of economics. Of course ALL of us here would love ot have a Chris Reeve knife, and why not a custom. but realities here, to us the Chris REeve Custom is definately somehwat of a holy grail of collectiing (no well i hear the Moran custom, now unattainable, would be that)
And i would say not many of us here have a very extensive knife collection (well, i dont..) mostly users and crap folders (but hey Opinels are hand assembled adn polished eh? rolleyes.gif ).

Lets see, post publicly, seth, how much would it be for you to get us a "basic" Sebenza or Mnandi? or Green Beret(do they still sell em?)?

noneltheless yes no one here wiht the resources and the interest would push a CR knife aside haha

thanks for posting, and to all, welcome to the bleeding Edge Thread, i think that your thread is well born enough eh, seth?

Got back. either ways Yes the Sebenza is a work tool i know that it means Work yes. Why does the leatherman hold a bad edge which one do you have and what blade steel does it use>? the new ones use 154CM steel (at least the better ones) and that rarely gets complaints.
TCE sports in Sunway has a Big, albeit pricier than it should be, Selection of Multitools (well Victorionoxes and Leatherman(s) no SOGs or anything else) try the Swisstool Spirit. Everyone says that its the best now but i have problems wiht the blade attached (waved wharncliffe rectangle thing) and its on offer. I am eyeing that Leatherman Charge Ti. looks good and useful tools instead of the ones that are redundant (i dont think i need 15 sizes or screwdrivers attached to a multitool) eventually the one you will need fits the screwdriver you left at home

sugarboi: i have that balisong, wanted to test out flipping on a basic butterfly so i took that in used it so it got nice and blunt then taped the edge and now look at instructions at balisongxtreme.com as to HOW to flip

Seonghoon: didnt lightfoot make knives for SOG before?

i think its good to carry a knife outside of your multitool. dont ahve one but if you carry a miultitool chances are you will need a one hand opening knife eventually
thanks for the info seonghoon
sorry guys just wanted to jumpstart the thread, reallly need that here

Normal knife biggrin.gif cos i dont have a multitool... well i do. have half a multitool, an SOG crossgrip
user posted image
this i take when i am going outstation and all cos then i wont have a toolbox nearby
nothin more thena that cos i dunno Leathermans here are double the price that you can get onliune and so i wait. for a credit card. either ways the one i will have is as i said before LM Charge Ti. that one looks nice and good tools

otherwise i carry a Single blade knife, Spyderco or Opinel. Victorionox if i am gonna be around people that are not understandin to knives. as it is the most non-knife people friendly knife

marcus

PS. Jason i got to handle a Sebbie recently now i want them all smile.gif Classic, modern and also a mnandi! which do you prefer though classic of the newer models... damn gotta get my online credit on...

YEah man if we had it in a mamak or open environment. the "unenlightened" and un-edge-ucated will surely have a lot of crap to ask and eventuially our stash will all be confiscated by the police.

hmm. i personally prefer the one sided blade.. cos. of safety and beleive it or not its more utilitarian (ie can grasp the unsharpened and have more control)
using the double edged i would believe makes it more tiring for cutting i would believe
and are they more fragile?

well that is utilitarian wise...
unless you gonna use it for SD of the likes of the fairbairn sykes, hideaway knives
hell even ed schempp kris. well renowned to be one of the ugliest out of a factory, would be good for that.
butterfly 420 anyone?

but anyways whatever floats your boat

i would like to know though what makes it more GP than most?

hmm? my post deleted?
Yes seth i have some things i want to order this time too . PM will be sent please quote on prices.

Leatherman is good especially since they used 154CM steel for the blades as opposed to the abiguous "stainless steel" they originally used and now especially good since some options are able to be accessed one handed opening wise

but if youre gonna use a knife, use a knife

Ikano is quite far mate. but maybe i will be in that area will call you if i am there i got seths number

thanks
