hi all coffee lovers and coffee sifus,

not sure if this is out of topic, which thermal mug / flask (except for those selling in CoffeeBean and etc) do you all recommend to keep the coffee hot and warm from morning till afternoon?

Thanks in advance..

Try the inverted aeropress method. Use double scoop of grounded coffee and fill water almost to the brim.
You can refer to a video I found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idXh2asi9JA

You can get a moka pot from at IKEA, but I would suggest a Bialetti, simply because of the thickness and quality.. Moka pots from Italy are better than the China made ones.

Hi all, I’ve been a coffee drinker for a few years and with the recent major bloom in coffee cafes, I’m pretty interested to know the process behind it (i.e coffee beans type, flavours, extraction and brewing techniques)

Can anyone advice me on where and how should I start this new passion of mine? As a total newbie that is smile.gif

There are a few ways to do this..

cheapskate way:
1. go to cafes (during non-peak hours) and chat with baristas. most are more than willing to share their knowledge with you.
2. do your own reading/research online

non-cheapskate way:
1. register for coffee appreciation classes (not very common but more are appearing nowadays) or professional classes at barista guild asia.
2. buy coffee related books.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to do this. Just make sure you have an open mind and enjoy the learning journey. smile.gif

i bought hario ceramic mill for few weeks already.
Somehow i feel that each grinding does not produce consistent coarseness. Does anyone realize that? Or maybe because I set a little bit too loose for coarse level? Does anyone have this problem?

And anyone here use hario v60 cone dripper? Any idea where i can find cheapest in town?
Just found out Parkson sell hario v60 for rm24, while in lelong sell for rm60+ above. It is the same right?

Just got myself a keurig, and a whole stack of Cups in bulk. Have to say the coffee tastes pretty good, verona blend especially. Without milk or sugar.

Hmm I think I will try both ways. Pretty interested in the coffee appreciation sessions but yeah, it's not happening frequently from what I've searched online.

Hario mini mill and skerton both produces somewhat inconsistent grind sizes when you increase the coarseness. It's totally normal and acceptable for the price you pay.
Get a porlex hand grinder for better grind consistency but it's more expensive.
There are even more expensive and better hand grinders in the market but they're generally not available in Malaysia and you need to ship it from US or Australia.

i've tried to regrind it second time for better consistency. No change in flavour or taste of coffee, or maybe i'm too new to justify. biggrin.gif

You can get a Porlex for around RM150. I got mine from eBay, inclusive of shipping from Japan.

Even cheaper now - http://www.ebay.com.my/itm/PORLEX-CERAMIC-...ecd17793&_uhb=1
