QUOTE(luvox @ Dec 8 2015, 11:34 PM) Espresso Lab is the only one charge GST on coffee bean that i know. If not mistake coffee bean is zero-rated item. Antipodean charges gst too...surprised they didn't charge there..I get my bean from antipodean. Cheap & good. Rm25 for 250g package include one free coffee. My last visit is at midvalley antipodean, free french press brewed coffee drinks with a package purchase. Love it This post has been edited by dwRK: Dec 9 2015, 10:21 AM |

QUOTE(ymeng85 @ Dec 13 2015, 10:33 AM) I don't dream so far la... Just a single group Slayer is good enough ha-ha. But lucky to even get to play with one. They let you pull shots on it? Flipping pedal left and right...nothing to write home about Took off top cover to see boilers too. The Ethiopian sure tasted nice with pre-infusion...21g into 2oz. |

QUOTE(Kookie10 @ Dec 15 2015, 03:53 PM) Well because i am still studying and and staying in hostel, i would like to reduce the amount of stuffs to buy. A coffee grinder will be quite inconvenient because of certain reasons. I recommend cold brew. Will there be anyway to enjoy better coffee without purchasing a grinder? Is there any stores that sell pre-grinded coffee? Buy your beans fresh. Get the shop to grind. Prepare the whole batch. Split into bottles, and consume as needed. Low cost...great taste...fast and convenient...for nice cold coffee... This post has been edited by dwRK: Dec 15 2015, 11:23 PM |

QUOTE(patryn33 @ Dec 17 2015, 03:44 AM) I work backwards from when I need them. Say on 25th I'm throwing a party or finishing, and I want my beans 7-10 days old, then roast date 15th to 18th. I'll go to the shops after the 19th to look. Antipodean Bangsar usually roasts on Monday and Tuesday, and ad-hoc depending on stocks. These are then sent around. Antipodean Tan & Tan roasts only occasionally just to run the machine. Most of the time taking stocks from Bangsar. This post has been edited by dwRK: Dec 17 2015, 09:14 AM |

QUOTE(wadthehellz @ Dec 17 2015, 10:39 AM) in case u all didn't notice. i found this bean shipper promotion are quite a good buy. Roast by Sprezzatura coffee, 3x250g with choices of espresso box for RM88 or filter box for RM98. http://beanshipper.com/collections/coffee-...cts/sprezza-box Thanks. The filter box looks more interesting |

QUOTE(arj @ Dec 28 2015, 06:03 PM) Guys what do you think about this grinder? Good enough to be paired with a Silvia or Oscar? Looks like a rebadged Capresso Infinity, you can read up further searching this.http://beanshipper.com/collections/coffee-...a-cafegrano-130 "Good enough" is tough to answer... Can it? I guess so... |

QUOTE(arj @ Dec 28 2015, 08:10 PM) Compak K3 with a slightly modded Oscar...this is where things start to get serious...if you can swing it. They'll last a lifetime.A few of the folks here have this combo. I wouldn't get the Silvia...troublesome when you do more than one cup of latte. |

QUOTE(ymeng85 @ Jan 6 2016, 11:53 AM) I took a peek at a site in Germany carrying it and it costs almost RM1.1K !! For coffee...Probably might want to rethink this haha....there's always the Porlex JP30 and slightly higher end ones too like Handground and Lido (also another wallet burner) go get one of those lelit pl53, breville smart or not so smart grinders, with small razor sharp conical burrs. These are better at cutting the beans. FYI my coffee grinder sans DIY hopper and base. It's better for coffee than my two big flats. Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(sapora @ Jan 6 2016, 10:31 PM) hey guys, do any of sifus here experienced trouble with brevile grinder bcg800? maybe i use some stale or hard beans, the main gear wore off, sent to service center, they said not spare parts. Sifu and breville grinder...these two don't mix Sorry to hear about that. I checked some parts shop and it's marked obsolete. I checked eBay USA and Australia didn't find anything you can use. QUOTE(lowkl @ Jan 6 2016, 06:05 PM) I have problems packing in more than 15gm into the Poemia (53mm) pressurised portafilter. At 15gm it's a full dome already... people say that you are not supposed to hard tamp a pressurised, so how to fit so much grounds? I may have hard tamped 15-16 grams into the poemia once. Tasted fine by me. Got about 50 ml I think. You may want to research this more.Furthermore, even at 15gm I seem to get some overextraction/bitterness. When I increase the grind size, I seem to reduce the body. For me, 13gm at the grind setting I use gives a nice balance. I was hoping to get some advice from people who have been using the Poemia for a while on how to max out the taste. Lately I've been holding the portafilter in the "locked" position until the coffee begins to dribble out, which seems to increase the infusion time by a couple of seconds; however along with the increase in body, a bit of bitterness creeps in (which in a latte/macchiato is well controlled). Now I'm seriously considering hacking the machine (and thus voiding the warranty) and piece together a PID controller to keep the temperature more consistent throughout the brew cycle. This involves a HUGE learning curve for me, as I have never done that serious an electronics project before. Poemia & other single boiler pressurized gurus, please advise. BTW, I think 75 ml is too much. Also I'd hard tamp only and not mod the machine. If you have taste problems, look out for grinding, dose, and blonding.
