Hey guys, i am considering to get this device from umobile (sign a 2 year contract with them)..
The main problem with window phone 8 is the lack of apps and the quality of the apps available..
my main concern is on a few basic apps that I cannot live without ..
How is the user interface on facebook, whatsapp and internet explorer?

Also, how well can this phone hold against drop? Sometimes i drop my phone.. and i'm very afraid of super fragile phone as in you accidentally drop it once, the screen will just crack

oh..forgot to mention... I'm a long time android user ..switching from galaxy nexus

Any phone is prone to breakage if dropped. It depends on the point of impact.

Suggest you have a casing for your phone since you confessed you are careless but that in itself is not fool-proof.

On the features/functions of WP8, suggest strongly you spend some time reading the posts here to gather some intelligence before jumping in.

yup ..i read all the posts in this thread but it's mostly about window phone 8 user interface and maps .. I've tested the demo sets.. win 8 very smooth
but i wanna know if the user interface for specific apps like facebook and whatsapp are good .. (i read some bad reviews on this.. so i want to verify)
the demo sets don't have sim card ..so i can't really try whatsapp

I am like you, considering a change to WP8. I have been reading the posts religiously as I want to make a right decision. I believe you have not read all the posts in the Windows Phones Thread as, if you have you would have gotten a lot of the information you wanted. I did.

Yes.

The more I read the more inclined I am towards not going down the path. Not that the WP8 phone I am considering is not good. It looks like it does not serve MY needs. It may be different for you. Hence, my suggestion for you to go through the threads here.

Good luck, mate.

I am sorry but I am a strong advocator of self help especially when someone has already pointed you to the right direction. All you need to do is enter GS. Under Search, key in HTC 8X and you will find what you want. This is as close as I will go which is almost spoon-feeding, which I am against.
*
Thanks for your advise and yes i do agree. Forgive me but all my attempts of searching and getting more info has turn to a dead end, even at GS and its pretty frustrating to say the least.

FYI guys i have called HTC and they claim the model will only be out for sale at mid-Feb in local stores. Fortunately i have purchased mine last Saturday @ LWYT , they were having 3 days promo and only for California Blue which is EXACTLY the color i wanted. Hoo-Rah! Loving the phone very much !!

Glad you managed to buy what you want.

Now just be wary of the colour wearing off your phone. It has been reported that the colour is 'sprayed' on and over time, it will wear off.

Regarding the GS here, if you know how to do the search it is quite easy to get what you are looking for.

Enjoy your new toy.

Yes i have read that about the Lumia as well, something to do with the poly-carbonate thingy?

The only problem now is no one is selling the screen protector for this model,it seems even though the screen resolution is same as Experia's 4.3" , 8X is totally different.

Ok wil do buddy, thanks again. notworthy.gif

SP (UltraClear) will make your screen more oily & fingerprint unless you apply the Anti-Glare SP or SP with Oleophobic Coating (Oil Resistance)
