I'm assuming FC means Fuel Consumption.. well i drive a proton saga 1.5.. it's been around for 14 years.. for rm50 it goes for about 260km.
problems include engine bracket needs changing, loose brakes, leaking water, slight rust.. But overall it's still in great condition.. |

Iswara Aeroback owner here, WMF. My current record for FC, full tank RM65 can go 700km (Serendah - Jerteh - Kota Bharu). No Stromberg no nothing. Avg FC in traffic (Serendah - Dataran Prima commute) about 525km (full tank), sometimes can get more. Now no longer drive, ride bike, a lot cheaper !!!
Currently using Castrol Magnatec. Any Castrol users here ? |

i drive the new Iswara/Saga (wateva they call it la)....
for those whose air cond seems like sucking air from outside, u can fix that problem...tell the mechanic to adjust the air cond intake ...i faced that problem before and it's fixed.... when i first got my car, there's something wrong with the carburetor ...they mixed up the air and petrol tube ..... got it fixed after 3rd service ...coz when i complain to them (SC) they said the car is like that (bullshit, even a layman like me knows that there's problem...the new car is giving out black exhaust smoke).... touch wood, so far so good....fc is not as good as the older (8 valve Magma)..but still not too bad... |

Driving a late 99' iswara 1.3 Aeroback.
FC is pretty good if u travel around 80-90kmph. i've tried driving from UPM to Skudai, speeding around 80-90kmph and the mileage is good, i think around rm30 worth of fuel for the 340+ km mileage. Problem is, is pretty underpowered . Anyways i'm a slow driver, so not much fuss. Good economical car. No problems so far. This post has been edited by kucingfight: Feb 14 2006, 10:27 PM |

i want hte power steering for iswara too, its so heavy, even a volkswagen can't be heavier on the steering part.
I can drive up to 120kmh without shaking but once it reaches 140...say good bye to a stable car. One thing i dislike about this cars, are mainly their components tear out easily The seatings, the sides the mirror, blah, everything. |

it's easy to achieve 160-170km/hr but still remain stable. my iswara 1.5 auto is on stock sports rim. i only do frequent balancing and alignment. can speed constantly above 140 stably. cannot even feel any jerks or shakes

im running a 1.5 Manual iswara sedan, just to ask does the FC change if u put a lower profile tyres without changing the rims?
eg. 13" rim but using 175 profile instead of the normal 165 which makes the wheel smaller slighty |

It's width of the tyre...eg. 13" rim but using 175 profile instead of the normal 165 which makes the wheel smaller slighty Example... 175 / 70 / 13 R 81H 175 - Width of the tyre 70 - Profile / Height of the tyre 13 - 13 inches wheel 81 - tyre load weight H - speed rating.... 175 size install with 165 tyre.... it will have minor effect.... - slight better FC coz less tranction... - less tranction on road especially wet road... - less comfort... coz less contact with the road between tyre and road... |

QUOTE(WhizzWork2005 @ Feb 15 2006, 03:34 PM) 175 and 165 is not profile.... It's width of the tyre... if 175 is wider shouldnt it be more traction? anyway i just checked the tyre is 175 with profile at 60, so that makes it smaller right?Example... |

I have year 2000 iswara 1.3 sedan. Love the sedan because it is has spacious boot. Used to carry lots of computer stuffs.
Anyway, FC is around RM60 for 350km. That's for city driving. Everyday have to go through this bumpy road with lots of traffic. Problem includes water entering boot which still dunno how to solve. Another problem is a/c will not be cold if the car stay stationary for long time such as during bad traffic jam. Mechanic says something wrong with the aircond circuit cutoff thingie. Changing cost around RM100 bucks. Anyone have this problem? |

can take, i was using it for a few months till i found out for myself how bad petronas gas is. 92RON will have slightly more torque but your exhaust will go faster due to the higher carbon = deposits stuff like that.

Sure the 92RON will have more torque...coz, as i know that is the RON97 has better performance compared to RON 92... not tested before... so don't know... |

By the way, i just sold my iswara last year and bought a Hyundai Accent. I did compare the fuel consumption between my 7 years old iswara and my new Hyundai Accent 1.5m and found out my new Hyundai is able to travel more km than my iswara!

You can get yourself a set of original from spring ofProton Saga Aeroback LMST. It is about 1 1/2 inch lower than your Iswara model. If you want to be safe side, go and test drive your friends' Saga LMST before making further decision.By the way, most spare part shops fail to realise that the front spring of LMST is different from the normal Iswara. iswara on titan user... wah wah... how i wish to have a set too... haha...
anyway, u cant really choose the best of both worlds (comfort n performance)... comfort means softer suspension, performance means harder suspension... best i guess get a moderate suspension setting which has acceptable comfort and install a good set of sway bars (although havent develop yet for saga iswara)... i'm still enquiring UR to reproduce saga iswara rear antiroll bar but there isnt any news about it... |

My Iswara also has a slight mis-alignment which due to a nudge behind a small lorry...When it happend my bonnet suffers a bit only but my headlamp was smashed...uwaaaaaaaaa |

yeah. i gotta admit the back bumper.
first case, a fren knocked me fron behind (old saga), his metal bumper dented, paint came out, num plate broken. mine just shifted a lil causing a small gap between bumper and rear lamp. not fallen off. haha... second case, i reverse knocked a honda back bumper, the whole bumper dented like shit. mine just a lil scratch. still using the bumper now. no change. no repaint too. haha... btw, any using KYB RS absorber for their iswara? if i use short stroke abs + stock spring. is it ok? because i heard stock spring is softer than those shorten type. pls enlighten me. thanks. If yes replace the rubber immediately... |

QUOTE(SpikeTwo @ Mar 2 2006, 10:17 PM) btw, wat's the full name of this kayaba RS again? got packaging? now the thing that i afraid is not stiff ride, it is the abs, like u said, too low. hope my bumper wont knock on bumps. u meet any of this problem? go to multi storey shopping complex parkings with slopes. it is called Kayaba RS... its a short stroke abs for sport springs... normal OEM springs still can use la, but will lower ur car a little... handling will improve but comfort sacrifice abit, coz harder than normal OEM abs mah (short stroke abs alwiz harder than normal length abs)...i wonder if my original 14" tyre and jrd rim will make the wheel knock the fender or not. any idea? i guess ur 14" rims wont knock anything... i'm using 15" rims, scratching fenders abit when going over bumpy roads.. btw, i'm pairing it with kimex lowered springs... if urs is stock OEM springs, no problem la... |

DAMN! now i know why the bonnet senget.
I was passing this proton near kesas shah alam when i noticed few hundreds of LMST and Waja, with their bonnet open, UNDER THE HOT SUN! I dont know what is the reason they do that, but LMST, being made from recycled tin susu, obviously had been affected since the bonnet stand is at the left hand side, hence the left side of the bonnet got the gap! |

QUOTE(freak @ Mar 6 2006, 08:29 PM) hehe. easy. fill up a 1.5l bottle of mineral water with petrol. record the price for that one bottle.drive until your car died out of fuel. please be careful when doing this. it's quite dangerous when your car dies suddenly on the road. i did it around 10pm on a quiet stretch in bandar baru bangi. fill up your tank with the petrol in the bottle, which i think is about rm2. bounce your car(fuel inlet side) for about a minute or else it'll be very hard to start. start your car and reset your tripmeter. drive to the nearest petrol station. fill up petrol. maybe you wanna fill about rm10 (this is just example). fill up the bottle as well. drive until the car dies again, but no need to do this the same day la. later also can. so basically u'll find out exactly how much your car can travel with rm10 of petrol. (plus minus the rm2 from the bottle). last time i did this with my 3 months old LMST, I got 400km for rm50. with the current petrol price now, it should be rm60 for 400km. when doing this test, please drive as per usual. preferably cruising+city driving of about 80km-110km per hour. good luck! |

I dono who good is the iswara. iz the same old days preformance just the outlook looks better tats all. Y i prefer kelisa, coz is feul injected (twincam),power windows, centre lock, auto, PS and alram system. Due to iswara..just becoz of the space longer then kelisa and is 1.3cc for a rm30k car. basically nothing special for iswara. *Can u guys tell me more how, what good of getting iswara?* note: i own a 1983 saga n getting lots of prob. no aircon n many things happen. yesterday just service the car n change 2 tyres total cost rm 233. |

I've seen this version on the streets, and somehow it's downright ugly. This post has been edited by blackpc: Mar 11 2006, 10:44 AM |

will think about it again...i though rm 30k saga provide the skirtings?? the salesman show me the actual car it comes with skirts. but the rims soooo yuckie~~ for the standard specs. kelisa....ya although is 1.0 cc n abit pricy.....but i think the performace wise much better then iswara is tat so? |

but of coz, there are wonders u can put into ur engine bay to make ur LMST fast... if u have already paid for the LMST, settle down for it and dont look at other cars loh... no point comparing coz u will notice there are lots more car which are better than LMST.... if u see it this way, u will love u car more... hehe... hmm, what enhancement u can do to ur car: >> engine << - 421 extractor - performance air filter (open-port or drop-in) - 15" sport rims, better tyres - good set of adjustable coilovers - tinted windows - Recaro seats - power steering - better alarm system - it is endless man... besides, in future u might able to tranplant a more powerful engine into it... so, why not jz settle down and admire ur new car??... cheers... PS: i do love my iswara... i'll say no even have to trade with a myvi... |

QUOTE(terencetoo @ Mar 11 2006, 11:24 AM) ohh thanks blackpc you'll get the skirtings, but not the rear spoilers. the rims come with cover caps. and the standard exhaust tail (like old saga) looks odd on the lmst. will think about it again...i though rm 30k saga provide the skirtings?? the salesman show me the actual car it comes with skirts. but the rims soooo yuckie~~ for the standard specs. kelisa....ya although is 1.0 cc n abit pricy.....but i think the performace wise much better then iswara is tat so? hmm...in terms of highway driving, i think lmst can beat kelisa...let's hear what others have to say 1st. |

ohh thanks the_catacombs
ya...i book liow..but refuntable. better dont c other cars then. if not make me doubting only. Fine Forget *KELISA* focus on my New LMST hehe okie serious question now. worth of getting the rm 35k iswara (coz they offer all colours for rm 35k spec) Or worth of getting rm 32k standard package (tat only offer silk colour- silver) i lov black colour or the yellow. But i have to choose the rm 35k spec package. In calculation for both package. The diff is rm 2.8k (rm 32k & rm 35k). iz worth of getting the rm 35k one? coz is only way i can choose black/yellow for the rm 35k package. So as u mention above, the mod can be made are: >> engine << - 421 extractor - performance air filter (open-port or drop-in) - 15" sport rims, better tyres - good set of adjustable coilovers - tinted windows - Recaro seats - power steering - better alarm system Will it cost alot to mod it? i see iswara have nothing much to mod from the outside. Maybe the inside parts. Anyway, what package u guys take? -->Package A (rm 32k) ===NPS, Standard -->Package B (rm 35k) ===NPS, Full Spec -->Package C (rm 38k) ===PS full accessories And how long is the waiting list to get the car? Lastly~~ what colours u guys prefer? --Yellow/Blue/Black/silk/Red (solid) Thanks everyone for the opinion~ Cheers~ |

If u r changing the OEM rear speakers to a 6x9, u have to change the rear board to a harder one and fix the speakers there. Or else maybe u can use the speaker box thing and fix it on the original rear board. |

Michelin in Klang less than 120, I think the shop quoted 115.
Bridgestone leh..120-130 or so for LMSS stock rim size PS. Check tyre pressure after changing tyres cos the shop will put damn low pressure to make it "feel" good. This post has been edited by ceo684: Mar 14 2006, 10:44 PM |

QUOTE(Xefron @ Mar 16 2006, 10:40 PM) R u talking about the 'orange' LMST?I've recently spotted this version, with Perak plate. Quite nice looking I may say. The front grill i think is more efficient in terms of ventilation, and i can see that they have removed the 'rear-side spoiler' leaving only the rear spoiler in place. Initially I thought the owner send it for spraying, but looking at the barcode sticker still stuck at the driver's side, I came to the conclusion that this car is in its original coat. anyone can enlighten me a bit? I dont think this version selling anywhere in klang valley. |

Slightly out of topic... if plan to tint your LMST, what colour matches the tinting colour? My LMST is black...shall I go for golddust? or maybe platinum? What tinting company is the best in tinting in terms of colours and heat reduction?

I am currently on a Saga LMST as well.. I would like to know the Saga of you guys really got "beep" when you forgot to turn off the headlights after off engine? I came across that in my manual as well but my car doesn't seems to have that feature.. I asked the Proton Edar machanic during my service but he said don't have after trying it on another new LMST.. Hmm.. but I saw someone in previous post saying his car will have "beep" when his radiator water temp is getting high.. same as the "beep" when forgotten to off headlights.. feedback please
Anyway guys, my nearly 1 year old LMST FC is still ok.. very depending on my driving condition (town/expressway) and air-cond usage.. the best I can get is RM 0.10/km for RM 1.62/litre time.. |

Yeah...I own a Iswara for a few years already. So far...very reliable where it get me to point A to point B without problem. I use 10W-30 motor oil only because I want to jimat minyak. I do my own oil change. Mileage : 210,000 KM. I have this love - hate relationship with my Iswara. I hate my Iswara because no matter how hard I punish it....it still goes on...on...and on...
P.S. My regular mechanic says that Iswara, Kancil and Kelisa are some of the most reliable car in Malaysia. . |

But now, the car still got no prob..!! only some minor prob becoz it was too old and its never changed engine!! As i know, the chassis also is very tough

I own an iswara lmss. Typical to proton, after 3 years, problems here and there popping up. central lock, boot....
got into an accident 2 years back and the car was towed. The guys towing the car are also the mechanics, and foolish I was back then, I allowed them to repair the car. Got me the lowest grade front bumper, which a slight knock will crush it. Kissed a Satria last week. His back bumper was fine but mine almost fell off if not for the 2 screws reinforcing it. And they broke my wind screen....the work they did to replace the wind screen was reli bad. And now, water drips in. Haih....because of these buggers, problems here and there. Anyone knows, how much to change the front bumper to a proper one, together with spray? Asked my mechanic and he told me nowadays, the non ori bumpers are all the fragile type. Including spraying is onli 300+. |

OEM bodykits uses bolts/clips and bonding material and looks nicer. As for the fiber aftermarket bodyparts, yes u can use the same method, provided that the kit is at least 99% exact in terms of size and dimension.i notice OEM bodykits uses bolts to bolt the sideskirts on insteads of rivets... can we do the same for aftermarkets body parts??.... it looks more durable... |

i am thinking of selling my year 2000 iswara sedan 1.3L. Anyone know how much I can sell it for?
Absolutely no mods done on it. Very much a vanilla car. Only changed the rim to sports 14" JRD. Tyre still less than 1 year old Bridgestone cheapest model..I think it's Turanza or is it Potenza..whichever cheaper. Still it's very good tyre and very silent with good grip. Must be soft compound. Mileage only 52,000km. Still very good condition. But too bad iswara second hand value very low... |

Sounds abit expensive but the labour is reasonable. A new gearbox is around RM 950. But it's not worth getting a new one if the car is more than 5 years old.
You can change the transmission oil yourself provided you have the proper tools. You also need to buy a barrel of transmission oil When you jack up your car, you'll see a nut below the transmission case. Put a pail below the hole and unscrew the nut so that the previous transmission oil will pour out completely. Then screw it back and refill it with 3 litres of transmission oil |

It's like everytime i will have to look at my watch just in case i'm not late. I guess its because of the dashboard design. But the stock clarion player can set to display time. Read the manual or PM me if you need help. QUOTE(RoxyMunky @ May 4 2006, 09:41 AM) Its different version.last time Cd and Cassete player come with small screen and seldom display time. So now i think its not a problem to abandone the clock on the dashboard as the stock player come with an clock function. |

6 years old Iswara A/B 1.3M/T, RM50 can go around 320km only. 70% Highway, 30% City.
FC is getting worse eventhough I send it to service every 5k mileage. Goin to give it to my brother soon and get myself a Waja A/T. I will surely miss the decent pickup on my Iswara. |

My 2.5yr old LMSS iswara "died" on me at Subang near burger king ss15
Apparently the starter motor/alarm relay got some problem.. cost 10 bucks to fix temporarily.. then my regular workshop installed an alarm bypass..can start using wire when key is set to "on" position |

totally loves the cheap maintenance cost but totally hate the cheap feel..engine and tyre noise, chasis cranking, etc.
but it's still a practical car for everyday use! |

QUOTE(blackpc @ May 24 2006, 03:14 PM) well i thought the price is different because the model gets older. cant remember the exact pricing though, though i own both LMSS (2003) and LMST. LMSS was around 38k at tat timemaybe because of the plasticky dashboard and door panels. LMST was around 35k yes LMST many using plastic already |
