Anybody here working in Loyang area? Loyang Cresent to be precise. Got an offer from OnG company there with salary of SGD 7.2k but I'm not sure about the accommodation around the area. Seems like they jack up the rental there compared to other part of Singapore. Another thing, is the offer on the high side or lower side as I'm also got around the same figure here in Malaysia.

However i do have a good feedback, a manager from YTL Corperation stating that my CV is good in the sense that it shows how hardworking i am, and thats the reason why he wanted to offer me to work with him other than the other 7 applicants. Well they just revise today to sgd 8.4k. Im 26 btw but married already without any kids yet. Thinking of becoming weekend husband by flying back to KL every weekend. Would that be a good idea in terms of money saving? If I bring my wife to Singapore then ill need to rent a house whereas I could do with just a room by myself

Employee who needs to do OT are inefficient. Don't you agree? Anyway, they revise it just because my current employer counter me with better salary.

Wow..with that kind of expenses I doubt I could save anything from my salary..doesnt seem worth it to go to Sg anymore.

Hey, dont overly generalize people doing OT as inefficient. I used to do OT, but that mainly in the servicing sector and the client are the ones who requested me to do OT since it was either urgent work which had to be complete ASAP or due to last minute scheduling changes, i was called up around 3pm or later to go onboard the ship to do some work.

There are some OT scenarios which are both valid and beneficial for the worker, i once had to go onboard a drillship at the edge of the south china sea, due to some odd reason, the transport that was provided for the transit voyage between singapore and the ship at sea was not the faster turbine boats but an older prop model. So the journey alone took 14 hours to and fro from singapore to the ship and back again.

Well, most of my friends actually warned me about the cultural shock i'm about to get when i get to singapore, an eye opener instead, but refuse to elaborate more about it, which worries me a lot. Guess I will have to see for myself.

Kiasu is 1, sellfishness is another, bad attitude, likes to complain, well, these are part of the info I've gathered. Partially, I do not really blame them being such for the sheer reason that there are being brought up in such a competitive environment which cultivated them into how they are today. I guess not all singaporeans are the same to begin with, and judging them based a on a few bad examples is simply unfair to the whole lot.
