Need all Sifus help regarding the recent situation i face:

I rented one room last year, it is not from owner but subletting by the tenant who rent the whole house, so no agreement signed.

at the end of december, i face bedbug problem and found out that it is from next room, so i quickly find a new room and on start of Jan 2013, i pay the rental and give one month notice as what we agree when we start renting the room.i found a room and quickly move out but still keeping the key until end of Jan.

here is the problem, the main tenant say to make thing easier, ask me hand over the key so that when ppl come view room, noneed to troublesome me to come back to open room door.then i told them just a walking distance and i decided to keep the key until end of Jan as i paid for the room this month.

then today, he told me owner want to repaint the room, ask me to open the door for painting the room, i refuse to because they can paint the room after i give back the key right? technically i still own the room, if i staying in the room, they cant possible paint the room when i am staying there?

that is the summary for the story, i need advices from Sifus.
1.Did i have all the right on the room since i paid for the room? even owner also cannot anyhow decide what to do with the room without asking me instead of inform me because i am paying for this month rental?

2. if i want to file a complain, who shold i go to? HDB? Town council?

3. since there is no agreement signed, technically the tenant cannot subletting the room after he rent from owner? if complain made, and HDB/Town Council found out he is not the owner but subletting the room,will penalty given? to all the party involved including me?

Ya, you are right, maybe is i am too selfish already, because bedbug is caused by them and yet they demand so many thing from us, i feel like cheated by them as they keep on take advantage(e.g. asking you to handover the key while i am the rightful tenant for the room).

nothing i can do about it, going hard with them does not bring any good for me. only can say bad luck for myself.

No problem, just helping whatever i can, maybe you can google backpackers in singapore?google alway is your best friend.

If is pioneer, with that amount of rental, you can get a common room instead of ultility room. your assumption is invalid as with myr500-600,maybe you can rent a landed property , with SGD500-600, you mostly can get a room only.

Mine is without a black and white, i agree with you, if is landlord request to access my room, of cause i allow them, because if you dont allow them, they still have backup key to your room. no different anyway. but if is main tenant want to access my room. no way i will allow them. when i was still staying there. they didnt ask anything. but when they found out i starting to move out, shitty request keep coming. keep nagging and bugging me until i give up my key and soon they will find a new tenant and earn my wasted half month rental. if is singaporean landlord do this to me, i am ok, but is a malaysian main tenant doing this to me, i was guessing, what the fish give you this right to do that to me!! he also just a foreigner in this country.

Yup, you are right about that, my life is more than getting back to them, it was a bad experience for me, so i give back the key to them and take back my deposit, so i got nothing to do with them anymore. i shall move on.

you are right about the bedbug thingy, it may come from upstair or downstair.
my case is i saw the bed personally myself when they are cleaning the whole room. moved everything out. and the bed got all the black spot on it just like the symptom of bedbug is there, that why i can confirm is from them.
i stopped being an ass and i am glad i do so. thanks to all the advices i get.

that the price for the area around pioneer for single male, if you moving along the green line getting closer to city area, i doubt you can get that price.

Cycle? 2km++ i think very fast can reach la, within 10 mins. because 2km++ is walkable distance, so wont take so much time la.

Did your company requested you to open certain bank account?if not, for more accessible, open POSB/DBS, more atm available which mean more people using it. OCBC also not bad, still up to you.

initial deposit is a must but u can withdraw the money right after you opened your account, every month you need to maintain a certain amount in your account, this is a must or else SGD 2 will deduct from your account. different bank have different balance to maintain.

Which education is better? MY or SG? i not sure about SG, but i pretty sure that MY education still better when i was young, because i mastered 3 language, chinese, english and malay. now i also not sure if i have kids, where do i intend to let them start childhood education.

Most of the time in this thread they saying if the salary offer in SG is 0.8 : 1.0 ? if you can get 80% or more figure of your current job, then is worth, plus your got specialized skill, maybe you can ask for more. you just apply job before you resign first, put your expected salary in your CV/Resume, then apply, if the bank think you worth the figure, definitely they will call you for an interview. now i dont think is a good timing for apply new job? should wait after CNY?

If you need people to help you, you need to stated out your qualification, your desire position, then only other can help you if any matching in their company.

30 days is the maximum stay in SG for white card. if you going to work, no harm filling 30 days as you going to surrender your white card for pass application.
