Give Edifier e30 a try.

please help me choose between these 3 altec lansing speakers for my desktop.

purpose; blu-ray movies, gaming and music

can also throw in FX3021 as i find the speakers small and cute.

please also state your reason on why you recommend the specific brand to me.

only will go for altec lansing brand so dont waste you time recommending me other brands.

VS4121... because that is the only good sounding one among all. others are just plastic usb speaker sounding multimedia with a subwoofer


and......................................... good luck finding vs4121 because it's discontinued since you won't allow me to recommend other brand because I would do so anyways

Edifier C2x or Edifier HCS2330
mainly because it's on budget and it's the only few acceptable choices you can choose

if u can get used unit of altec lansing 621 or cs21 from singapore, it will be much better choice
they are selling at cheap price

want to ask..edifier C3 bass better thn hcs2330??

hi, main use for music only, no game no movie...

currently dilemma between a 2.0(HiVI D1080) or 2.1(m20w) speaker, been heard 2.0 suitable for music, but i heard that 2.0 need proper set up, unfortunely my room is too small (around 3mx7m), any suggestion? will improper set up cause the sound worst than 2.1 in term of music perfomance?

and m20w no tweeter build, it by much inferior compare to 2.0 which has built in tweeter?

Don't forget to give Edifier e30 a try, voice by Phil Jones. All the reviewer give very high score for e30.

Hey all, I'm upgrading from my old Edifier M3300.
My top priority is music then movie , sometime play FPS games only, so I am looking for all around performance speaker. I am not a basshead and my room is quite small,so a powerful bass speaker is nono for me. But i need quality and punchy bass but not quantity bass.

based on the recommendation in front


1.Budget ~RM1400
Audioengine 5 (A5) (music) -popular
Reason: I know this is a very popular speaker for music . The only concern is, is the bass good enough for movies ? I think it is fine if the bass is better than my m3300. but now about Audioengine A5 vs S530D bass ? if they are almost the same, i will definitely choose audioengine a5.

2.Budget ~RM700
Edifier S530D (music, gaming) -popular
Reason: I have good impression on Edifier speaker based my previous m3300. It has good mid and high but not too boomy. I cross out S730 simply because the subwoofer are WAYYY TOO BIG.

the above choices is top 2 so far i like.
So, any suggestion ?

For RM700, you also can take a look on Hivi M50w, personally didnt appreciate how edifier s530d sound like...quite flat,bland,dull to my ear.

If you have high expectation of improvement in vocal, then...probably better go 2.0, mostly multimedia 2.1 speaker's weakness...

For 1.2K, Hivi M200KIII ,according other forum feedback, it should at least on par with audioengine 5

For 1.4K, Focal XS Book, which i using now, but i afraid it cant fulfill your requirement on bass good enough for movie...even through broken in...and found it punchy than out of box a lot, but it still cant go any deeper below 6xHz...which mean will loss quite a lot bass detail. but if u did not plan to sell off ur m3300, then u may try connect its subwoofer with those 2.0...try to compensate lower freq...but is that sound matching with ur new speaker or not....is a myth. (anyway i only recommend this....if you only plan use it in near field (1.5M~2M))

for all rounder, just ignore xs book...haha

thanks for the reply , i will definitely look into Hivi M50w and Hivi M200KIII. When i dumped my m3300, i really want to get a decent speaker under Rm1.5k, cuz looking no more upgrade in 4 5 years. Music come first , then movie , but i play music 80%, 20% for movies. Bass doesnt need to be very powerful but be adequate for movie, m3300 bass is weak but just enough for me. So, need a allrounder speaker. But do u know where is the local distributor for Hivi M200KIII , somewhere in KL? If it need to be import from China, then it will be out of my consideration.

Im into more clarity and quality,bass not really needed.

You should try out the new Edifier e30, it will not disappointed you, the bass will not lose to 2.1 system and it will alot of award worldwide.

for the swan series the d1080-iv have the strongest bass if i have 1.5k buggest and want bass i will go for maybe m200II than add on another swan h6 sub

D1080IV has more bass than M200MK iii, and more than M200MK ii. M200MK ii/iii has more musical tonal balance than the D1080IV. If you have 2k budget, the X4 in nearfield and for small room will destroy all of the above.
