D1080IV has more bass than M200MK iii, and more than M200MK ii. M200MK ii/iii has more musical tonal balance than the D1080IV. If you have 2k budget, the X4 in nearfield and for small room will destroy all of the above.

Full range speakers will be available at consistent supply. The new X3 will also be here, following that will be the X5. The D1080IV is already sold out by our dealers sweat.gif

Hi all,

My current Altec Lansing MX5021 has sort of malfunctioned and am currently looking for a set of speakers (2.1/2.0) with a budget of approximately RM1,000.

The speakers will primarily be used for music(pop songs from Adele, etc) , as well as some gaming and movies sessions.

I currently own a set of Goldring DR150 + Vero cables and is satisfied with the clarity and details of the sound produced, although I would like to have a bit more bass. Therefore, I hope to find a speaker system with comparable level of clarity and details, with a balanced amount of bass for music and movie sessions.

For comparison sake, I have recently auditioned the Hivi/Swan M50W and I found that the bass is sufficient, but I feel that the sound produced lacks clarity.

I would really be glad if you guys could give me a few recommendations based on the above requirements. If possible, can you also provide me with the place where I can audition the speakers?

Thank you.  smile.gif

M50W does not lack clarity, it's a warm sounding speaker and therefore it feels a little veil, just like the Sennheiser HD650. You can move on to:

D1010IV - RM 399 (possible price increase in January)
D1080IV - RM 559
M100Mk2 Bluetooth - RM 689
M200MK2 - RM 729

All speakers available for audition at Heavy Arm starting tomorrow. You can also purchase them from Wellcom PC.

Dear Edifier/Cyntrix/E1-AKG,

Thanks for your recommendations! Will try to look for them for audition.

On a side note, assuming that I plan to purchase a RM2k 2.0 sound system (to be connected to my PC), if I were to compare between active speakers (like Aktimate Micro) and passive speakers (Bookshelves with amp), will there be any significant difference in sound performance between the two systems? I understand that passive speakers will have higher flexibility when it comes to upgrading the components (i.e. amp and speakers can be upgraded separately).

Thanks again!!  smile.gif

If your speakers are not up to par, no amplifier or source can make up for it. If you have RM 2k, consider getting the HiVi X4 or M200Mk3 + Stand. T200B + Stand is also around this range.

Few hundred ringgit consumer ranged speaker no need waste anytime burning in. They mostly use paper cone and drivers have low excursion.

RM 400 budget, you can go audition the HiVi D1010-IV and you will know what to bring home laugh.gif

Hello there,

I'm looking for a good pair of 2.0 speakers for movies and music (Jazz, Rock, Classical). As for now Gigaworks T20 really appeals to me - did anyone have a good experience with these?

I'm also hoping there might be an equally good alternative for less than RM300. Would appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks in advance and cheers =]

HiVi M10 - RM 329. Audition it @Heavy Arm. Be VERY surprised...

Thank you for your suggestions power911 and CyntrixTech! I checked out the Edifier studio series - the wood finish is very pretty! Will need to go have a listen.

The M10 is VERY tempting but indeed I am looking for a pair of 2.0s as I prefer a small footprint (desktop space is premium and my room is small =(

The cheapest 2.0 speaker that you will from Hivi, a true hi-fi brand, is the d1010-iv, but it is Rm399. There are other speakera like a30, s3w but these are not the same quality and serve different purposes

Yup, I saw those in your website last night. My needs fall somewhere between the s3w and the D1010-iv, so keeping the m10 and s3w in mind for now =)

S3W isn't in the same category. You should just look at M10 and D1010-IV. They sound decent in demo, but sounds extremely well on desktop. These two are desktop speaker. For M10, the sub MUST be placed on the table. Go audition them and THEN go audition the rest of the brands. You realize how vivid the first impression would be left on you.

Thanks again, it's not about untidiness though, it's dual monitor setup lol. Looks like I need to do more research before buying. So 2.0 price range 350-400 what's the best bang for the buck to you?

HiVi D1010-IV. RM 399. You can audition the speaker to find out why people love this sub RM 400 speaker so much biggrin.gif

You know what, we are considering opening an interest check for HOME AUDITION for the M10 and D1010-IV. These two speakers sound particularly good ONLY in home and on the desk. Often time they are too "small" for any store to properly demonstrate the speaker's true potential.

Gonna get a 2.1/5.1 speaker.
Room size around 16x15ft
Multi purpose usage, will be using the speakers for music, movies and gaming.
Not really a bass head, prefer clarity in the sound but would like to have oopmh from speakers too as i love club hits and pop music.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Budget around 400-800 +-

Looking at

Rm400+-
Edifier C3
Edifier R501 MkII

Rm700 +-
Edifier DA5000 Pro
Swan M50w
Creative Gigawork T3
Aego M

Most like getting The M50w as read reviews that it outperforms even T3 and Aego M. But would like to have feedbacks from u guys  rolleyes.gif

And is there a drastic difference if i get the C3 instead of m50w? If difference ain't big would just get c3.

I think I just saw you at Heavy Arm and you went home with an M50W biggrin.gif
