sgx - i only "invest" - hold, div, ex rate. don't know enough of sgx to do more.

usa - invest in etf's (exchange traded funds); trade their multiples or inverses.

usa much more volatile, more things to "play", much more fun.

but u need the right broker account(s). if not, too expensive, get slaughtered.

imo, today's not a bad day to buy:

.. china/hk recovered after days of battering
.. oil prices stabilizing after loss of 12% over 5 sessions
.. greek drama almost all factored in
.. rm stable at 3.805 after few days of bnm intervention

so, my take: not a bad idea to buy large caps beaten down lately.

for usa, take a good look at the largest caps and popular etf's like aapl, spy, xlv, qqq...

those usa etf one a bit ex for me to buy now.... perhaps i will slowly move all in SGX then US stock market...


next target Singtel... might wait the ex div only buy....

i can only tell u i am pleased with my move from bursa to sgx since 2 yrs ago - div, cap gains, fx gain.

usa - zero cap gain for 2015 (consistent with dow, s&p) but good fx gain.

singtel - no big deal cum div or ex-div - more about the price when u buy. for sgx, my exp is better buy cum div.
