China quartz generally isn't crappy, guess the only unknown factor is how they make in the China factory. In terms of stain and scratches both China and branded ones are the same. You are only getting branded if you particularly like a range of color that they offer, and also branded ones comes with proper certification that says you can do your work prep on the top itself without needing any board. (Green certain, bacteria free etc) But us Asians generally tend to use a board irregardless of whether the manufacturer say it's safe or not  biggrin.gif

I took the china quartz, and took my house keys. I scratched with all my strength as hard as I can... grey marks appeared on the quartz. The sales lady then brought it to wash and came back without a scratch on it. It actually scraped metal off my keys.. Scratches could be seen on the LG hi macs solid surface with the same test.

I decided on quartz.

well i would choose quartz over granite although granite is slightly cheaper.
Granite emits radiation. May expose urself to unnecessary risks.

Grats on your purchase. hope it turns out well smile.gif even though it's almost scratch proof, please take note not to drop any sharp objects like screw driver or hammer on the surface, it may cause a small chip hole although under normal usage it's almost impossible for it to happen.. unless you're really unlucky!

Subang airport, old road beside the runway... a lot of shops there

I chose Century Stone beside Rattan Decor and Smiling Rock near South Seafood

Better go yourself and talk to them. You'll get a good price.

Solid wood top will last long if you maintain it well like paint it every year or so.

I would avoid painted kitchen top...

Cause paint is chemical... u dont wanna cut something and risk transferring it to your food...

Then again I would avoid cutting stuff on granite/quartz top as well.. spoil your nice/expensive knife..
