Bump.
Anyone know where to get Audioengine DS2 'speaker stand' near PJ or KL? Something similar would be fine too, finding that 'type' of stand, nothing too serious, just for M50w ![]() |

Should be high density foam. Hardwood need padding underneath or the resonance may mess up the sound! If you are a purist that is

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Nov 7 2015, 04:14 AM) Yep that's how I found out the potential. Angle it up & pad the table surface in front the driver with acoustic foam. Sounds better..QUOTE(VagueConcerns @ Nov 7 2015, 09:36 AM) Or if you want something fancy have someone cut out a large block of hardwood at an angle. Yes prefer wood, wonder what wood works place to visit for this? Those doing picture frame kind or furniture kind? PM me if you have one to share Hey, you can even do carvings and finish it up nicely with some stains. QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Nov 7 2015, 11:28 AM) Should be high density foam. PM me if you have one to share For a solid block of hardwood, and for that purpose, you wouldn't have to worry about any resonance. You would isolate it from the block of wood as you normally would when placing it directly on a desk or floor. You would treat it as a new floor. Even if you don't isolate it and place it directly, I wouldn't worry about having a 2 inch thick piece of hardwood resonating, especially since it's not only much smaller than the cabinet, it is also not in direct attachment to the speaker driver. If anything, the cabinet vibrations themselves are the main problem if it's violent enough to vibrate the block, not the block itself. |

Also, found out a place to get the DS2 stand, Rakuten, if anyone is looking for the same... |

Bought a Swan M50W from AcheenAudioShoppe to replace my Edifier M2300. Holy moly.... the subwoofer is powerful. (I leave it at 1/3 of the dial). It blends perfectly with the mains. Each cable (for power/speaker/remote control) is long enough for typical desktop. (I did find my Edifier cables too short.) Having individual connection to the subwoofer is a plus too.
Initially wanted to try the Logitech Z623 or Corsair SP2500 (main purpose is gaming & movies, secondary music), but I got a good price for this M50W. Any idea what is the impedance of each satellite? |

Has anyone ever compared the X3 with KRK Rokit 5? Got the chance to use the Rokit 5 for a few days and those speakers were pretty bananas.

Guys I'm using the M50W with Asus Xonar Essence STX. Should I route the left and right speaker channel directly to the soundcard? Or I can only direct it to the subwoofer?

Or I can only direct it to the subwoofer? I don't think the soundcard has an amplifier fit for speakers, nor do the speakers have their own amplifiers judging from the ones I saw. They're just ordinary +/- wiring for amplified signals, not for line-level connectors. The subwoofer's plate amplifier is the one that's powering the satellites, as per usual. If you have a separate amplifier that you can feed with the sound card, then yes you can power the satellites independently from the subwoofer. |
