Would the D1080-iv be considered a mini step-up from Audioengine A2?

QUOTE(socratesman @ Jul 20 2014, 06:50 PM) Would the D1080-iv be considered a mini step-up from Audioengine A2? imho it will be. its a bigger speaker anyway you will have more range and also have more lower frequency response

Will a soundcard like Soundblaster Z or Xonar DX improve the sound of M10 by a lot?

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/swan-d1080-mk-...mode=guest_openGood deal? Even cheaper than local including shipping. If the speaker arrive in good condition, obviously.

If the speaker arrive in good condition, obviously. The savings is only marginal. Total incl shipping is about US$165 x 3.25 = RM536.25 Locally only selling about RM559 right? Hence you're saving only RM23 plus you have no local warranty support; there is risk of shipping damage and don't forget risk of getting customs tax.

Getting Started

Looking for one with playback purposes. Budget 2k. Might be interested in x4 or the mk3, but any advices might be helpful as I am pretty new to this stuff. I do have my own dac, check out my sig. I think it does have pre amp function. Both of these are powered speakers, right? Do I need another power amp for these? Thks guys please advise, I am also open for suggestion with powered speakers from other brands if my budget permits.

all up to you want x4 clean sound flat tuning (ugly to my ears) or m200 v shape sound. yulong use rca, can disable the volume control like a direct mode. both the x4 and m200 has internal amp, unless u planned to take apart and modify them become passive bookshelf

I reckon you can just connect using the RCA outputs of your Yulong DAC. This post has been edited by jchong: Sep 4 2014, 01:20 PM

Got myself the Swans A30 yesterday, hooked it up to the Aune T1 line out connection. After powering up, first impression "That's so weird.". Then after a while it sounds really good and I like them very much.

The mids are good, not really very good to me, they're just good. I'm bothered by the placement of the speakers, they need to be tilted up to sound better but the base of the speakers are flat.

So how to say which one is "best bang of the buck for home use"? Anyway, by mk3 you mean the M200 Mk III? This post has been edited by jchong: Oct 26 2014, 05:51 PM

Just asking some sifus here.......I bought Swan T200B recently. Damn nice, the sound quality is really good.
However after about a month I got this problem...the volume would go up erratically....I mean up to full volume (funnily, these Swan is distorted at full volume). This happens to only 1 speaker, the left one.
I thought it was due to too many remotes or maybe a handphone lying nearby. But even without all those infrared devices nearby, sometimes I got this unwanted high volume erratically. It happens only occassionally and not all the times. Fearing that I might damage the tweeter, I packed up the speakers and back to my old separates.
Anyone has a clue on how to overcome this? I really like the speakers but this really bothers me.
Thank you
