Palm oil inches up on possible Malaysia export tax cut
*
Reduce palm oil tax,
- overseas buyer see cheaper palm oil from Malaysia, demand for Malaysia origin palm oil up. (at the expenses of other producers).
Total demand worldwide still the same, but business concentration may change.
Also if palm oil is significant cheaper than alternative based oil (soy etc), it may as well attract demand from there.

Just like supermarket slashing price to attract customer from rival supermarket. While total customer remain the same actually.

So there isn't any sort of "international palm oil price association" who standardize the price worldwide? Or it just depends on the country's futures trading? For instance, gold price. Gold price also can be different from different countries?

There is no such thing of international standard price.

Even crude oil, we have Nymex sweet crude, Brent, Tapis. All may have different price to another, depended on demand and supply from the particular region.
But those price (those with large trading going on or high % of worldwide trade is going on) generally being used as strong/tighter benchmark (just like gold).

Futures trading normally participated by major producers and major buyer that who want to hedge their cost of supply. So it is strong benchmark for business out there.
There is no requirement or a must oil/palm oil or whatever commodities must be sold/bought through futures market.

I bought DBE for M&A newsflow, but too slow to let go when that didn't works out and became accidental long term investor.  tongue.gif
QL is the best as always. If it's QL that I'm holding, I no need to monitor so tight already since no need sell button (price also won't move much in short term anyway since valuation now is already quite high).

I've 50% in reits at the moment. So ya, only small part reserve for high risk dish, maybe less than 5%.  biggrin.gif

My cash position has been between 10-25% in pass one+ year. Today, after all the buying, left 15%.
I raised my REIT's position from 20% to 50% in pass one year, to be prepared for upcoming GE. icon_rolleyes.gif
The GE never come, so holding that much cash without much use is also kind of wasted. I'd consider 10% of my REITs are "alternative cash" that I can sell and buy stocks when market turns bad. Estimated a drop of 5-10%(on reits) vs 15-30%(on other stocks).

So, your holding of 45% is much much more defensive then me lah. biggrin.gif

I'm also in 10%++ for almost all the time this year, and everytime getting dividend income, will keep reinvest into stocks, keeping the cash at 10%. Planning to free up some cash though.

Too bad Dog Jones jump, my INTC still stuck. Should have sold it last time rather than waiting for x86 smartphone and Windows 8 to be out. Luckily my other US stocks going up, making up to the unrealized loss that I have.
