Now, Y500 become more mobile with 120w adapter & dvdrom to carry around. Just swap in the extra GPU & 170w psu when we need the extra gaming power at home. Thats the beauty of swappable ultrabay.  thumbup.gif

Wonder when the ultrabay component for Y500/Y400 will selling here.  hmm.gif
Lenovo at US already start selling the swappable ultrabay components ie. fans/HDD/eGPU/ODD

I'm having some issues with my Y400:
1) CPU throttle down to 2.4ghz from 3.2ghz after 20sec of stress test
2) weak wifi issue, wifi strength is good after update the driver but facing frequent connection drop and hard to connect to the wifi.
Any of u guys facing this?

Most of the y400/y500 users are having the same weak wifi issue.
It is because of the wireless adapter lenovo is using in these laptops.
Unless you change the wireless adapter, there is no other way to improve it.

Depends on your budget.
Both are similar in terms of specs.

I compare both, in term of design, y500 slimmer and elegant more.

aesthetic value of course y500 is a total winner, but usage wise, still losing to y580

i think so.. if you want to buy for Gaming and dont want to upgrade in future.
then you buy y580 is better because y580 got Graphic GTX660M 2Gb DDR5.
but if you look on Design or in future you want to upgrade the Graphic card then
you buy y500.

Added on January 2, 2013, 1:31 amtell me one thing. i use dual graphic in one time. i dont know booth are working same time. or not.
because in control panel show me 2gb only. and if see in NVIDIA control panel one time only can select one graphic card.

I don't think you can claim from Lenovo unless the wireless adapter is defect.
