Hi i want to ask.. If my flight is 12pm at klia2.. The boarding time is 11:20.. What time in advance i need to reach there?
*
International flight? Make sure you web-check in beforehand.

Do you have check in luggage? If you do, please be there latest by 10am. The queue to drop your luggage can be really long and slow. If I were you, I would be there by 9.30am.

If you do not have check in luggage, then you can be there around 10.30am, if 11am you will most likely have to be running already. Give yourself some time to walk to the gate and pass all the custom checks.

I have a weird question as I am flying to Changi soon (TigerAir) and I was wondering can I disassemble my desktop PC (except the chassis, of course) and bring it aboard in my hand carry (Mobo, PSU, GPU, HDD, RAM)?

P/S: Am moving to Singapore to work long term.
*
Why don't you check it in and label it fragile? Pay extra if needed to.

QUOTE(Magnarod @ Apr 30 2016, 09:09 PM)
What's your advice if I am traveling with cabin baggage only and I need to bring my own shower kit (shampoo, liquid soap, toothpaste and toothbrush in a single package)? Pack my own with accordance of LAG rules or just buy such kits in pharmacies?
*
Either pack your own or buy the smaller containers of your toiletries from pharmacies.

It's not that difficult to pack your own. Just use any containers that are below 100ml and you are good. Toothbrush just bring any. Toothpaste buy a small tube.

Hi, if I already check-in airasia, but not able to make it to the fight

does i have to pay any fee? does it consider cancellation?
*
It just means you're gonna burn the money you paid for the flight ticket.

I think it is borderline. You might wanna read thru the other backpack thread. I remember others saying preferably below 40L for handcarry.

ok i dono if this is the right place to ask but anyways, i'm interested to self travel gold coast for like a week, but i'm having some doubts i hope you guys can reply!

1) is it possible to move around in gold coast with public transport eg train, buses..or it's a must to rent a car? Which is cheaper?

2) do renting a car over there require you to apply for some permit or international license thingy?

3) how long ahead should you plan your one-week self travel? Cuz i'm afraid if there's not enough time!

what i meant was, i have my luggage but i have not sent them into the cargo(?)
but i have already got my boarding pass because of early check in.

from what you're saying, i'm to show my boarding pass to them, then they will take my luggage
and tell me the gate number. is that it?
*
Meaning you have a check in luggage, you need to check in your luggage.
But you have already web check in (check in few days-weeks before your flight) and received a softcopy boarding pass which you print out using your own printer.

Yes, you need to go to the counter, usually it'll state BAG DROP COUNTER. And show them your boarding pass and passport.
They will tag your luggage, check it in and give you the gate number and any updates on your flight.

Hi all,

I just wanted to confirm something here. A bit confused with the 'weight' and 'piece' concept here by different airlines.

Like for example,

1. Cathay Pacific - 20 kg allowance, pieces not mentioned, so how many piece of luggage can I check in? But here my maximum weight limit is 20 kg for all my checked in luggage no matter how many pieces, right?

2. ANA - 23 kg allowance, 2 pieces max - so what is my total allowance? Is it a maximum of 2 pieces luggage with maximum weight of 23 kg each or total weight of the 2 pieces at 23 kg?

Hope someone can clarify for me. Thanks a lot!
*
1. Yes. If no mention of maximum pieces then yes.

2. Unless it states 23kg per piece (which usually to America it's like that). Otherwise it's maximum 23kg, and 2 pieces only.

Yes. Unless it states maximum 23kg PER PIECE.

thank you.
i 'll be staying for 2 weeks in serviced apartments
i plan to make my own meal
*
Just buy there. Usually Airbnb and service apartment will provide dish washer soap. You'll need to go to the supermarket to buy your raw food anyways.

Oil most places won't provide but we usually just get butter. Can use for bread spreads as well.

Guys, is there any restrictions on the amount of phone/tablet we can bring on board? Because I will have a 4 inch phone as mp3 player, my current phone and a tablet.
I think powerbank is 2, correct?
*
None that I know of.

Powerbank also none that I know of. Some airport states below 20k capicity each but didn't say limit to how many pieces.

I've brought around 3 phones, 1 tablet, 2 powerbanks and 1 laptop with me before.

Hi,

I'm flying to Vietnam soon. Is it allowed to bring instant food such as maggi or bread in hand luggage?not planning to check in baggage. Travel using AA flight.

Thank you.
*
Can. No problem as long as it's not Liquid, Aerosol or Gel.

QUOTE(Azuma-kun @ Oct 17 2016, 08:22 AM)
I heard about Airasia not allowing passenger to bring breads, biscuits, sandwiches on board. Is that true? I was thinking to buy some breads or cookies for me to munch in flight
*
No such thing. As long as not LAG, you can bring it on board. Of course you don't munch right in their faces when they are serving food. Some times they will politely tell you that outside food is not allowed. But you generally can snack on your own food at any other times.

I always bring snacks with me on board my flights.

Go to Thai Odessy and have a massage. 4 hours not much time.

QUOTE(ajay67 @ Oct 31 2016, 11:11 AM)
hi

do you know whether AA in Australia, particularly perth do check weight on carry-on luggage? total is 7kg per person right? if so, will they accept total weight for the whole family like 35kg per family of 5?

rgds
*
It's not about which airlines, it's the airport. Some times they choose people to weight, sometimes they don't. Depends on your luck.

No such thing. It's 7kg max per bag per person. Not 7kg x 5 in a family. Usually they will weight your hand carry luggage only (cabin luggage) and not your handbag/backpack. But sometimes they might. My brother got charge for excess weight due to his heavy laptop when flying on Jetstar from Cairns to Auckland. Laptop weight is counted too.

i'm travelling to australia next week under ETA visa. I'm arriving at sydney, spending a day there then taking a domestic flight to melbourne.

my return flight to KL is departing from melbourne.

any chances I will have problem going through their customs with a one way ticket to sydney?

also, will I have any problems travelling domestically within Australia with an ETA visa?

thanks in advance!
*
You won't have any problems as long as your ETA is valid.

When you go thru immigration, prepare your return Melbourne-KL flight itinerary or booking confirmation. You won't have any issues like that. As long as you have a return flight ticket out of the country, you are good.

I will be travelling to Japan via KL this coming month, and just wondering whether I can access the MH Golden Lounge if I arrive on a business class ticket, but depart with another airline. Example... I will be arriving KL on business class, but taking Japan Airlines to Japan a few hours later.  Can I use my arriving business class boarding pass to access the lounge?
*
Best you ask the airport lounge when you are there. sweat.gif

Hey guys,

Can I bring a packet of indomie noodles in my hand carry?
How about coffee powder and chocolates.

Thanks.

Edit: I'll be flying from KLIA2
*
Yes can. No issues bringing it on board.
Only issue is where you are arriving, whether you can bring it into the country you are arriving at or not.

Hey guys hope someone can help. My group will be flying to the US this Saturday. The travel agency sent me the electronic copy of the flight itinerary.

How am I suppose to get the boarding pass.
*
You can print out the e-copy. What airline are you flying with?
Go to KLIA, check for your airline number on the board, see which counter you have to go to. Check in at that counter. You will get the boarding pass when you check in.

Is this your first time flying?

Yep first time internationally. Will be flying United Airlines. Also, do you know the carry-on baggage policy? I heard basic economy only allows 1 personal item.

My destination:

KUL - Narita Airport (transit) - Chicago O'Hare - Bradley

so scared I fked up.  sad.gif
*
For the baggage policy, you can check on their website. Pretty sure they have the policy stated somewhere on the website. Most airlines are quite standard - 1 personal item and 1 hand carry luggage within a weight limit. The check in baggage should be 2 pieces if you're flying to the states.

You'll go to the check in counter, check your luggage in, get your boarding pass and inform the airline staffs if you have any other needs/requirement.
You should also double confirm your transit ticket and connecting flight. Make sure your check in luggage will be checked directly to your international destination, Chicago I assume. If in doubt, just ask the airline staff at the counter. Sometimes they give you the connecting flight boarding ticket, sometimes they give you a transit ticket. Sometimes you can use back the same boarding ticket. Go early to check in so you won't be late for your flight in the event there's any issue. 3-4 hours before flight.

QUOTE(blue1ce @ Mar 30 2017, 09:02 PM)
I'm travelling back to Malaysia from Sydney in mid April. I am working overseas and haven't been back since the GST implementation.
I have question on the following Malaysian custom rules import regulation as it's seem weird and not clearly listed on what is meant by the following examples

- all other goods, incl. gifts and souvenirs up to a total value of max. MYR 400
http://www.iatatravelcentre.com/MY-Malaysi...ons-details.htm

Or meant by Personal goods in this link
Gifts and souvenirs worth up to RM 400
https://malaysia.visahq.com/customs/#!import-regulations

Any item can be up to RM400 easily, a watch a mobile phone, a camera, a tablet.

Another question would be if I am travelling back with a Canon 5d3 SLR camera and a few lenses. That will easily be more than RM10k. Am i going to be taxed on my personal used camera which doesn't seem to make any sense.

Appreciate for some advice on the confusing guidelines and if there is anyone personal experience who has been travelling in and out of malaysia
*
You shouldn't have any problem. So far traveling in and out of Malaysia with all my personal belongings also no issue.

I'll be heading to New Orleans next month, and it'll be my first time sitting a connecting flight/transiting as well: KUL > Narita > Texas > New Orleans.

I read online that i'll have to go through US immigration at my first point of entry in the US, which is Texas. What about in Narita? Do i disembark the plane and head directly to my next boarding gate? Or do i have to go through Japan immigration, collect my bag, and check it in again?
*
I assume you are flying with JAL since you will be transiting at Narita.

When you check in your flight in KLIA, you will be checking in all the way to US. I'm not sure about the domestic transfer in Texas but I'm pretty sure you will not need to check out and check in again at Japan. You are most likely required to disembark the plane and head to the next boarding gate. You definitely have to go thru immigration at your first point of entry in the US.

If you have any more doubts, you can clarify it with the airline staff when you check in at the counter.

Please please advise me

Please use existing thread.

There is no issues on bringing 20,000mah powerbank. Just make sure you DO NOT check it in.

Guys, this will be my first time flying such a long distance so I need some clarification.

Lets say I will be taking Qatar Airways and it will transit at Doha for 45 minutes before it departs to London. So my question is during that 45 minutes, do I have to leave the plane and go through the immigration at the Doha airport? Or I can just stay at my seat and wait till it takes off again?
*
If you're on transit, you'll have to leave the plane with all your belongings. Follow the Transit signs in the airport, ask if you do not know. Most likely go thru security check again. Do not need to go thru immigration.

Check which gate you have to go to for departure to London. Go to that gate and wait for boarding.
