hey guys need some help here....

my Tyrel scare of cats and very bold with other dog...which unlike my previous 2 Gs who are fearless toward anything...is it possible to me to rectify this problem..to make my boy fearless of cats n dogs?

2nd, my boy left ear is raising up....i know JRT ears are suppose to be folded down..is there anyway, to stop the unfolding? the ear is yet to be fully up but can see the diff if compare to the right ear...

by the way, how's everyone going by?

Cats? kena bully by cats b4 is it? Both of mine are fearless towards them.

Well, that is called Pricked Ears. It's a genetic defect. definitely will fail if you plan to show your dog.

edit: and no, you cant prevent it. How to avoid? check the sire and dam's genetic history b4 buying.

well, i wouldnt encourage you to train him to be not afraid of cats coz the next thing you know, he might dash across the road to chase cats.

Well, Shadow is not afraid of cats and dogs at the moment. I do not encourage Shadow to disturb the cats around my neighbourhood, some cats are very aggresive and fat, worry Shadow might lose the fight and end up scared of cats. Regarding the ear thingy, take a shot and show us. From the previous photos I didnt see anything obvious.

hi all,

kinda noob to the forums. planning to get a jrt, to keep our german shepherd at home company... is this a sound idea? we've been thinking of getting a smaller sized dog with good personality, so that it can get along with the older gsd. anyone here have experience with keeping a jrt with a bigger companion?

my husband and i do a lot of outdoor activities - hiking and swimming mostly, and we usually bring our gsd along... would this be a good idea with the jrt? btw, i heard that jrts love to have playing space, and we have a big yard (with lots of plants, errk!) for the gsd, so hoping this would be a plus point.

any thoughts would be appreciated. thanks!

GSD? If your gsd is friendly towards other dogs, why not. but make sure you introduce both of them very slowly. For sure as a pup, the rascal would pounce, like, etc at your gsd, would he be ok with it?

i'd say, come for the 19 Nov event with your GSD. You can look for or other JRT owners and decide whether your GSD can mix with these rascals or not smile.gif

Yeah.. it happen to my Shadow boy as well, sumtimes is minor thing. Dunno how to explain to you, will be able to show you went we meet on the 19th November.. dont say u not coming.. whistling.gif Was thinking to get a min pin to accompany my JRT.. but I know that Shadow is getting abit bossy these days.. possesive. Will see how.

@salabianca
Well my 6 year old pair of labradors cant accept my JRT, I think u must bring ur GSD to meet the JRT puppy, see how it turns out. DOgs that are not socialize often with other dogs tend to develop alot of nasty behaviors. Well hope to hear good news from you, JRT's are really nice dogs. biggrin.gif
