Well, JRTs are very hyper and you'll need to work off that extra energy with something like training, walks etc. Try to make activities for your dog as much as an everyday routine as possible. Find out what his drive is and work on it, JRT are very intelligent and hyperactive dogs.

well, like reanne said, you need to work off their energy. That's why we, jrt owners call them Terrierist. If you have rear dogs b4 and you know how to train basic commands to dogs b4, it'll be a lil bit easier to train them since you have the basics already. everyday you'll have to spend at least an hour to be with them, train them, play with them. the main purpose is to rid them of their pent up energy. If not, they can find/create their own games; ripping up sofas, biting shoes, etc. where do you plan to house the jrt? in-house? outdoor? take a short test here and you'll roughly the idea whether you're suitable or not This post has been edited by nairud: Aug 22 2006, 12:03 PM |

In the past i have rear quit a number of dogs like locals dog and a few german Shepard but JRT is something new to me. Welcome to the world of Terrierist I heard JRT need constant discipline, how can i train them to stop and stay still upon my command? I planning to enrol my JRT for a obedience class but i need something to deal with it with before i enrol it... Well, tonite Shadow is going to boarding for 3 days.. will miss him alot.. poor fella.. |

Cn also try teaching tricks coz JRTs r really keen on dat rather den OB. Anything involving activity is good, anything involving 'sit stay, stand stay, down stay' will b torturous. Of course, u'll get d occasional odd ball like Piper who actually competes in longest stay events n win, at times. Dog sports like agility n flyball r also cool ideas for keeping ur JRT occupied n well exercised. |

QUOTE(nairud @ Aug 23 2006, 03:13 PM) Regret to say, its at the Vet. At LCCT KLIA, called my sister, she went to collect Shadow and found out that Shadow have not been sleeping / eating well. We knew that Shadow was in deeps stress as all this while Shadow is left patrolling the indoor of our house most of the time. Else, we barricade the dining area for Shadow to 'lepak'. Apart from that, Shadow tried to get out of the cage, then caused some scrathes on the left part of the snout and the head, quite deep ones. Me and my gf really broken hearted to see such things, and also Shadow didnt eat much. When Shadow saw us today, he was jumping and flipping his body around. Next time we will look for house boarding instead of those vets. QUOTE(hojeff @ Aug 23 2006, 04:54 PM) Boarding, simple explanation would be, I go for trip, I need somebody to take care of my dog, I send it to a place where ppl will provide proper attention and take care of my dog. I pay for it too. QUOTE(hojeff @ Aug 25 2006, 11:53 AM) Actually for expert opinion, u can always check with vetenerians. Make sure u dont bath the dog after the vaccination for at least 5 days and try to feed it moderately, because after the vaccine the dog will usually feel very tired, no appetite and abit moody. It is best to check around to forum so that u will get a proper vet. No worries, many have good experiences in this forum, so dont be shy to ask.
