Eh, u know Junior as well. ??? = Snowy, really small female JRT (but nobody is smaller den 50sen), also enjoys a good wrestle like Piper. Doing OB at Tmn Desa n pretty good at it, very rare 4 JRT. Can actually stay still 4 quite awhile ... just like Piper. blink.gif

C dat Piper is still fairly active, thot dat she already got knocked up by Benni. So she's still up 2 playing with d boys den or is she already showing signs. whistling.gif

Here's another pic of Snowy. Hey she even sits like Piper, must b a female thing. Notice how d guys n girls sit differently. blush.gif

ABout 1k-1.5k with/without cert?
Is it hard to take care, what are the health concerns and what are the precautions needed?Active dog?Considered as a large breed dog?
*

Prices r with cert. Check out some of d previous posts in dis thread 4 deir traits. Like Nairud said, not recommended for 1st time dog owners unless u r d active n outdoors type coz dis fella needs LOTS of EXERCISE n PLAY flex.gif. Usually healthy, hs a long life n is s small breed, not more den 15" in height at d withers.

Here r some of deir traits:
thumbup.gif D Good
JRTs ... small mutt with big attitude n personality, natural performer, brave, tenacious, independent, inquisitive, quick learner, determined, fearless, adventurous, playful, alert, energetic, fast, agile, acrobatic, sturdy, healthy, long life, low maintenance, sense of humor, cheeky appearance.

doh.gif D Bad n D Ugly
On d other hand ... feisty, possessive, stubborn, persistent, curious, mischievous, tendency 2 roam, must b on leash ... love 2 lunge, pull, tug, run n jump, chases cats n squirrels, easily bored, cant sit or stand or stay still 4 long, need lotsa exercise, seeks attention n activity, leap b4 u look mentality.

Oh,so its not recommended for beginners.
Well,i'm a beginner,but i'm active.Maybe will get it later when i have more experience.
*

cool.gif If u r fairly active n enjoy d outdoors n exercise, den still possible. But u'll hv 2 read up on K9 training methods coz dis breed will climb all over u if u gv dem an inch. Also can be feisty, bordering on aggressive...which means u need a firm hand 2 handle dem.

Must b willing 2 play with d fella for > an hr/day, playing till dey r tired is barely sufficient...till d point of exhaustion is more deir style flex.gif. Dey need some space 2 run offleash preferably, 2 let off all dat steam.

U shld also hv a good sense of humour coz trouble is deir last name. drool.gif

Mayb u cn check out n try handling some of ur friend's or forumer's JRTs personally, just 2 gv u a flavour of wat 2 expect. whistling.gif

But for JR,do u leave it outside or inside the house?
*

U seem pretty active. Most people I know keep dem indoors coz dey r prone 2 investigating any movement or sound, hence may rush out 2 d road ven d gates r opened. Think most owners prefer deir pets indoors unless dey r too big or clumsy...but hey, d Gwailohs even hv Labs, GRs n GDanes running inside deir houses! shakehead.gif

JRTs r small n will fit nicely indoors. With indoor pets, think its more fun n enjoyable coz u'll hv another shadow following u around n u get 2 c all deir habits n funny rituals. Of course, with a JRT in d house, u'll den hv 2 put up with d perpetual request 4 playtime. tongue.gif

DOes the long fur type shed alot of furs? My female Lab can be really jealous sometimes, I worry it might hurt the JRT if I put them together. Furthermore, are there 2 species of JRT, I mean 1 with short fur & the other with long fur?
*

JRTs come in smooth (short), broken (medium) n rough (long) n all 3 coats will shed a fair bit.

Dun worry bout d JRT having 2 look after itself, dey r a very feisty breed...worry more bout ur Lab getting pushed around instead icon_question.gif. Best 2 read up on how 2 handle a couple of dogs in d house, coz d JRT wun shy away from d 'Top Dog' routine.

JRTs usually get along better with d opposite sex, hence a male JRT may gv more face 2 ur female Lab. Labs r usually a very gentle breed n most JRTs, I've seen get along very well with d gentller breeds...coz can bully n take advantage of dem drool.gif

Now i'm getting all worked up and worried about her pregnancy. tongue.gif dunno whether her motherly instinct will kick in or not once the pup is born. I'm afraid that she wont bite off the placenta. sweat.gif  oh yeah, benni's owner has always been admiring that pic you took for her.  icon_idea.gif

tongue.gif Hah, I'm just as lost on matters pertaining 2 delivery. Better hv a word with others who hv hd litters b4 or read up on it.

Dat pic ... yah, JRTs r at deir element ven dey r soaked in a puddle/ mud, with ball in mouth. Look closer n u can c dem grinning from ear 2 ear. biggrin.gif

Hey, very nice pic of Piper!

Yah d smooth coat is more popular n u c more of dem around town. Perhaps bcoz d broken n rough coats r harder 2 find. Here's a pic of all 3 coats together.

i think we should have a Trial demo in msia. ya know, the put in cage, let loose, chase after a piece of cloth. (with and without obstacles) Maybe we can even ask JRTCA to setup a small club over here.
*

Yarman, Jack Russell Enthusiasts n Racers of KL (J.E.R.K.), cool. Will b up 2 owners demselves 2 set it up. JR Hurdle Racing wld b great fun but very difficult 2 find a large enuf field 4 such an event, dun even hv a dog park in dis country. Also need a mechanism 2 drag d cloth at around d course at speed, where 2 find?

Here's a site with short clips on JRT hurdle racing, dun blink ... shocking.gif http://events.purina.com/dogs/events/index.aspx?medialist_12

hahahaha...when there's a will there's a way. But will it be widely accepted or not by all JRT owners...commitment is the main key. It's not easy to set up a club and stuffs like that.
Off topic: ya know Chiam from your co?
*

Dun think Msian dog owners hv reached such a passionate level...ready 2 spend quality time with deir dogs n embrace dog sports as a real hobby. U'll b hard pressed 2 find >20 JRT owners who r interested in outdoor activities n d races. Bsides, how 2 find such location n facilities 4 racing lah, especially in dis country! sweat.gif But who knows, a few yrs down d road... cool.gif

D Chiam I know of hv already left d co.

Dog OB lessons r held at Jln Gasing/Templer, Tmn Desa n Subang n usually cost bout RM150 for 10 lessons.

Main thing bout setting up a club is 2 find a dog friendly field or park where members can meet up n enjoy some activities with deir pooches or even just laze around 4 a picnic. cool.gif

JRT std: Ears should b small V shaped n dropped, carried forward close 2 d head ie. flop forward 2 d front with tip folded near/above corner of eye (when alert). Eyes shld b almond shape, full of life n intelligence, dark rims desirable.

Piper's ears r fine ie. folded down. Some JRT clubs also accept prick or pointed ears but dis is not preferred. If u dun intend 2 show ur JRT, den it dun really matter. More important is dat pup shld b in good health, appears alert, fairly active n inquisitive. But u never know, d quietest 1 may turn out 2 b d neighbourhood speed demon. drool.gif

@Groovemaster - heya, Ur friend's pup is male or female? Already vaccined? If vaccined + male,I might be interested. PM me his /her contact number so that I can have a look at the puppy. Today was supposed to go to Bangsar Sports Complex..drizzling worr.. so sad.  sweat.gif
*

Sorry mate, d pup already sold 2 pet shop n got kidnapped while at d shop along with few other pups. blink.gif

Yarman, nowadays evenings usually rain so playtime at d park is limited. Cn gv me a call at 016-6928186 just 2 make sure v r at d complex shld u decide 2 drop by.

JRTs coat should b predominantly white, markings (brown or black) should ideally b confined 2 d head n tail area. Patches on d body is permissable as long as white is d dominant colour.

U r rite. JRTs should maintain d working dog physique ie. slim waist, fairly trim n muscular, rugged, alert n always ready 2 go. Msians tend 2 spoil deir dogs with too many treats n too little exercise n play. whistling.gif
