I have been wanting a JRT for ages and ages, it's actually a tie between them and beagles for my ideal dogs. My bf's mom is very particular about what dogs to keep since prolly before getting our own place we MIGHT need to live with them after getting married (yeah yeah I demands dogs as dowry lol!).

How can I convince her JRTs are good dogs? sad.gif
I don't want a poodley-lapdpg (no offense to poodles). happy.gif

i guess you'll have to show them Groovy's clips provided that you're committed to train him/her to be like groovy tongue.gif

Awww thanks for the pointers. happy.gif
She is realllly picky. Said one reason why she chose a mini schnauzer is because the males pee squatting and she doesn't want em to mess up whole house (her dogs have never been outdoors 'cept to the vet!_) O_O Got such thing meh. ;_;
And she took one look at a JRT pup in the pet shop, says: "Hmmpf looks like the type tht barks alot."

too bad to hear it....
sausage is good in catchin rats 1 mah
they are good rat hunter  thumbup.gif
still can get along with chickens ar
for most dogs should hunt down your chicken become their dinner lor
hahahaa

JRTs are also raters. Yah. my sausage left many rat bodies for me. Now my boxers turn. Once.... my boxer left me a cat with no head and front paws... hahah...

Well, I've seen on TV where JRT owners meet up and let their dogs go for a rat hunt... erm... can't remember what its called but the put a rat at one end of a tunnel while the other end the dogs go in to sniff them out.

Both r stubborn, Beagles even more. JRTs r fast learners but get bored quite easily, hence dun really enjoy repetitive tasks. Both r hunting breeds, very active n need a lot of exercise. Otherwise dey cn b destructive at home.

Beagles bark n howl a fair bit. JRT's bark cn b very loud n noisy if uncontrolled.
Beagles r friendly 2 most dogs, JRTs r more agressive.
Beagles eat anything, JRTs r fussy eaters.
Beagles will out eat u, JRTs will outsmart u.
Beagles r guided by deir nose, JRTs by sight.
Beagles cn settle down after some exercise, JRTs cant n will wanna play summo. whistling.gif

Hehehe.. been there, done that.. Groovy is just so hyper.. Was so surprised when Groovy invites me to play catch. It's so different from my labs, maybe coz labs are large breeds, JRT's are really agile, b4 u toss the ball, it will start running and it will make sure the ball nvr reach the ground.. scary sweat.gif REally thanks Fawn for the hands on experience..

@ Nairud. How come u nvr interview me huh.. CEO? cool.gif

THAT I really envy you. Interview me la.. gimme some chance ma.. so cruel la you. laugh.gif If I get the rest I will paint their but up just like hotpants.. icon_idea.gif Honestly I dont have much confidence to train JRT to be like Groovy. That really take alot of patience, time and dedication. Anybody notice or treat their dogs like one of the family? We do. I just know the basics of how to keep a dog, and for sure Im digging info's on how to tame a JRT (or obedience) Nearby my house got alot of plain grass fields and place to let the dogs run around.. incl. my crazy labs. For me the most important thing is not to neglect the dog, like my chow chow breeder friend alwiz remind me 'a dog is for life' tongue.gif

Yes, a dog is for life. Piper is definately my preciousssssnesssss. Sometimes i treat her more than my gf laugh.gif

Training sure takes time and effort. If you have the will, you can train him/her like how you want it to be. Besides, they do tend to stick to one person ya know. So, better becareful so that the JRT wouldn't stick to your gf tongue.gif then you'll have one heck of a time to make him/her to submit to you

I tot ur married.. doh.gif Well I really dont mind if my JRT will stick to me or my gf (preferbally me) but just hope that it will be happy to be with us. I have a friend who own a 5 year old mix breed dog, committed suicide from not eating and drinking for days. The stools come out with thick blood and it died. cry.gif Thats why no matter what happens I will not let my pair of nasty labs away from us.

Groovy is really interesting. My mum also so impressed when we see Groovy at the park. So agile.. Sometimes come to think of it, it's just like our kids u know, all the time, preseverance, patience to nurture it. But what we get at the end of the day is really a *bl@rdy good satisfaction. tongue.gif
