lol why would you wanna downgrade?

i dont see any sense in selling off your current 670 for a cheaper card

might as well keep using it.. 670 is a powerful card, you can last the next 2-3 years with it wink.gif

trust me, if you sell your 670 one day youll rue the day you sold your card when newer more graphic demanding games comes out

doh.gif he haven't buy the card

Thanks for the suggestion, biggrin.gif
but I don't need a monitor.
Can I know what shop do you refer about this pricelist?
I think it is 500GB, is it? hmm.gif
I also have a question, program like photoshop, vegas and corel video need more power from CPU or from GPU?
*
if save up around 100 more can get i7 wink.gif

Intel Core i7 3770 RM899
MSI H61M-P31 RM148
Corsair 1333 ram 4GB x2 RM108
Gigabyte Powerrock 420W PSU RM99
Gigabyte GZ-series chassis RM59
Lite-On 22x DVDRW RM59
WD Caviar Blue 500GB RM179
total: rm1551

if not then just get i5 3570 rm624

Yeah, so i dont need a GPU then.
I think i5 3570 have enough power.
Thanks rclxms.gif
Very nice, but I think I just get the i5 3570 as if I take the i7 it is over the budget.
+ I can save for about RM124. biggrin.gif
Or maybe I should upgrade the mobo? atleast that have sataIII. hmm.gif
Interesting but I dont want to make a later problem as the owner of the rig is not so good in pc hardware thingy. nod.gif
Just keep it low profile. tongue.gif

So I think I will go like this,

Intel Core i5 3570 RM624
B75MA-G43 RM279
Corsair 1333 ram 4GB x2 RM108
Gigabyte Powerrock 420W PSU RM99
Gigabyte GZ-series chassis RM59
Lite-On 22x DVDRW RM59
WD Caviar Blue 500GB RM179
total: rm1407

Is that mobo is okay?
*
go for msi b75ma-p45 rm229, sata 3 and sata 2 not much difference

To all sifus, finally I got the time to go pcdepot. This is the build that I requested based on suggestion on the first page.
Intel i3-2100 RM339
GIGABYTE H61M-S2P B3 RM189
Sapphire HD7770 RM439
Kingston Value Ram 4GB RM64
WD Blue 1TB HDD RM254
FSP Hexa 500W RM149
Xigmatek Asgard/CM Elite 311 [casing] RM140
Any DVD rom/writer RM60

Total: RM1579 + 55
Pcdepot quoted me a nice price within the budget estimated by this sifu's recommendation. The thing, the staff actually suggested me to take i5 instead and change the motherboard if Im really using this build mainly for gaming. He said i3 wouldn't be able to support newest games available now. Probably will obsolete in half a year or 1 year time. Changing to i5 would be a more sensible choice. He asked me to upgrade to i5 and also change the motherboard. Everything else can still remain the same. The final price quoted was 1.9k. Any input on this? Thanks.

My budget is rm1500. Plus rm200-300 probably still alright. Bro can the graphic card I mentioned support hd video? Sapphire HD will have some awesome hd feature is it? Can i3 support newest games for 2-3 years down the road?
*
should be alright unless someone makes some crazy physics games, or large open world with heavy graphics
but I can tell u i3 can't handle gta nicely if u put render distance too far so what games u play

XD

doh.gif doh.gif

ur better off getting Intel for gaming
u crossfire 7970/7990 also low fps coz the faster card will need to follow up with the slower card
Intel g630 + discrete graphics card can beat ur a10+ discrete graphics card

For your information, its not about high end gaming rig we are talking about here.. 1 more thing...if one have the means to Xfire 7990 or 7970 with A10 confirm wont look at A10 already.... talk about a single 7990 or 7970 is a budget of other person whole rig.

Im not talking about how powerful A10 integrated GPU is... i talking about the means to minimize budget for the future road. can u OC a i3 3220 ?? if you can i will pay u a visit. anyone who stay at hardware Q&A long enough also know  a discrete GPU is always better den a built in integrated GPU. so izzit a i3 with no capabilities to OC & 7850 better or A10 5800K with the power of OC and Xfire with discrete 7850 better? given its is just Rm3XX at newegg. Mayb A10 5800K also can provide a time frame for ppl to bear with the integrated GPU inside while saving for a better GPU first?? can u play battlefield 3 with intel HD ?? Correct me if im wrong.. tq~

Nt starting a war here.. jz stating the facts .

i3 don't supports aes, obviously it would lose

a10 also uses more power, would it be worth it to oc it just to match i3? if u want to xfire, you would need to get a better psu, some more want to oc? oc would need to get a after market cooler unless u don't mind the noise
even u crossfire an 7850, it would have to match the 7660D in the a10, a10 would be more suited with 6670, anything above that would be wasted

hexus.net/tech/reviews/cpu/46157-amd-a10-5800k-dual-graphics-evaluation

and also the test ran by popular websites are using high performance ram, integrated graphics benefits from that so anyone using 1333mhz normal ram won't even get the same results as the benchmarks, its a hidden thing not a lot of people know

I would say the trinity series would be more suited for htpc, no point pairing an discrete card with apu

AES? We are talking about pure processing power here. A10 doesnt need to OC to match or beat i3. Out of the box it already is better than an i3 in every single way i see. OC is for FUTURE PROOF. Aftermarket cooler is for the time when your CPU cant keep up with GPU and occur bottleneck. Only then i see the need to OC.

Your So called popular website dint stated that all test ran by them are using which setup??  All should be the same to get the same result. People are asking for a future proof cheap alternative. Is I3 future proof ?? I dont think so . Does a normal 80+ 500W PSU cost u a bomb?? Do you need a 800W PSU to power Up a APU + 7850?? Correct if i am wrong. Newer generation card just doesnt need that much of firepower to fire up.

You can ignore the performance ram on daily usage part. The difference is minor. Its a hidden thing?? how come i dont think so ? Website listed out everything specification they used to ran all the benchies? haven u ever study everything on reviews?
*
they do stat what ram they use, god damn anadtech stats they use 1866 ram which cost a bomb

hi sifus. i hope to get help from all of you who are experienced in setting up a home server. thanks!

[Budget] : RM1.5k below
[Purpose] : Home server as storage backup and streaming media
[Hardware that will be reuse from old rig] :
5 unis of HDDs
asus p8Z77-M
[Monitor resolution] : Wont required as only needed for first setup
[Game or software that use frequently] : Windows Home Server, media files
[Planned Setup] :
Chassis : Asgard Pro or NZXT Source Elite
Proc : Intel i3-3225 (mainly for HD4000 and not needing multi thread by much)
PSU : either Coolermaster or Corsair, not sure on min Watt though
Cpu HSF : CM hyper 212 evo
Storage : will add another Hdd to total of 6 disks
Note : initially will run windows home server, but if there is a good bargain for raid card to run sata 10, then i will upgrade to use a raid card
this system will run 24/7
*
any reason for HD4000? for psu go for corsair GS600, no need cpu cooler since u cant overclock, others are good to go

Follow up from my last post  tongue.gif  (really busy with work lately)
I was looking to build this setup, recommended by kytz at first page of the thread:

Intel i3-2100 RM339
GIGABYTE H61M-S2P B3 RM189
Sapphire HD7770 RM439
Kingston Value Ram 4GB RM64
WD Blue 1TB HDD RM254
FSP Hexa 500W RM149
Xigmatek Asgard/CM Elite 311 [casing] RM140
Any DVD rom/writer RM60
Tried pcdepot nearby my area. They got most of the items, but some parts that they dont, they claim they will change with an equivalent items. This is their build for me:

Intel i3-2120
GIGABYTE H61MA-D2V
Sapphire HD7770
Kingston KVR1600 DDR3
WD Blue 1TB HDD
C/M 500W
CM Elite 311 [casing]
Any DVD rom/writer

Price quoted was rm1561. It kinda fit my budget actually. But I dont really mind splashing additional rm200-rm300 if there's any upgrade that can significant improve the setup. So to all the sifus here, any input on the setup recommended by the shop? Any additional upgrade that can further optimise the setup? thanks

p/s im using Samsung 23 inch S23B350. Planning to buy a rig that can play latest games comfortably. Not at super great setting (not hardcore gamer, mostly admire storyline, but dont mind to be awed by the graphics as well although it's not the priority), but at least the latest pc games without any hiccup? if that's not too much to ask for =). Plan to watch movies in HD and stream HD videos as well. thanks
*
go with this

Proc: i3 3220 RM379
Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45 RM229
GC: Sapphire HD7850 1GB RM619
RAM: Kingston Value Ram 1333mhz 4GB RM54
PSU: FSP Hexa 500W RM149
HDD: WD blue 500GB RM174
Case: Cooler Master K280 RM129
Total: RM1733

builds on first page abit outdated, can get from lingloong/zhen^wei

guys, i saw dell selling alienware x51 selling rm2688,

Intel® Core™ i5-3450 Processor
Windows® 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit (English
8GB Dual Channel 1600 MHz DDR3
1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive with Native Comman
1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 545
Slot-Loading Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

combine with the nice design, do you think its a good deal?
i saw their XPS desktop with similar spec (using GT640) about same price also, only design is different.

do you think at this budget i can build something better?
For instance, if alienware is rm2600, i can build same thing at rm2000?

because i try to build a similar one, i found it might be same price( but alienware design is good)

i5 + mobo = rm1000
3d card = rm420
hdd = rm300
casing + power supply = rm300

looking at the rough estimation above, seems like its better off i get from dell?

is the graphic card GT545(bundle in alienware) good enough?
*
intel core i5 3450 rm564
msi b75ma-p45 RM229

enermax naxn 82+ 550w rm215

casing also kinda cool, got few colors
if not can check out, got snow and normal

Pcdepot only has c/m power supply. Ive asked them, they don't have the hexa power supply. Hmmm what should I do? Go on with the c/m brand or should I just try another shop? The c/m brand totally not recommended? Yea I plan to change the graphic card to 7850. But from the leaflet, 7850 supposed to be 2gb, or is it a printing error? And would it be a waste to use it on an i3?

i3 can handle 7850 no problem, there's 1gb and 2gb version, recommend to get from lowyat, where u live? can try lingloong/zhen^wei
