QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Oct 30 2012, 02:25 AM) Is this the right place to ask for Monitor recommendation ? 120hz monitor already cost u a bomb and ghosting isnt as that bad, theres no need for an 120hz monitor since u wont notice anything above 60fps granted u even hit more than 60fps with modern gamesI looking for a Monitor for my upcoming gaming rig. What I need is, > 2ms respond time > 120hz (120Hz does matter for gaming) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « > 24" inches > Not 3D > Max budget RM700 |

QUOTE(gmhafiz @ Oct 30 2012, 04:56 PM) [Budget] Go with this, theres really no need for an 256GB SSD, spend more on GC RM3800 - RM3999 [Purpose] - gaming - compile software [Hardware that will be reuse from old rig] - 3 hard disks - sound card PCI - headphone, no need speaker. - dvd drive [Monitor resolution] 23" 1920x1080 [Game or software that use frequently] - fm - skyrim - total war shogun2 - compile cyanogenmod [Personal Preference Brand] nvidia over ati I got very good input from https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2421 Since I upped the budget, I need help refining the build. I do not plan to overclock or SLI MOBO: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP = RM315 - Not Z77 since not going to OC or SLI CPU: i5 3550 = RM615 - can be adjusted according to budget GPU: Leadtek GTX670 = RM1139 - I know many are using it although it is not a well known brand. How reliable it is? Monitor: Dell U2312HM ultrasharp = RM559 - Nice IPS display PSU: Silverstone Strider 500W = RM209 - Using silverstone now. Quite reliable RAM: 8GB = RM132 Case: Xigmatek Asgard Pro = RM155 - popular case, any other alternative within this price range? SSD: Samsung 830 256GB = RM639 Mouse & Keyboard = RM50 - No need fancy ones Total = RM 3797 Not going to buy i7 - overkill since I don't do photo processing/movie editing. I need justification for Z77 over H77. You might noticed that I emphasise on reliability. I have my current rig running for 5 years - and still going strong. The only component died was a 8800gts OC edition that lasts only 2.5 years. I feel good about the above rig expect for mobo, cpu and gpu in which I do not know how reliable they are. QUOTE(bobdabuilda @ Oct 30 2012, 11:14 PM) i5 3330 / 3470 / 3330 (all almost similar price 3470 < 3330 < 3470, anyone care to tell what the major differences are?) Clock speed, no point getting a z77 now, haswell coming out next year, whats ur budgetASRock h77 pro 4 / z77 pro 4 (only RM 15 difference, but is there a need?) Gigabyte HD7770 OC edition WD Blue 500 GB SDD 120 GB (haven't decided but would like a cheap one, if possible) FSP Hexa 500W (is this enough?) Thermaltake Black Commander MS-III (does everything fit into this chassis? i emailed someone regarding this and apparently he said everything should fits, just need confirmation) 2 x 4 GB G.Skill DDR3 1333MHz I made a thread a few days back but decided to up my budget a little. Can someone comment on the above setup please? I don't plan on OC-ing but maybe in the near future (hence the z77?) Main purpose for rig = Micrograph analysis + gaming (Dota 2) + media |

QUOTE(bobdabuilda @ Oct 30 2012, 11:23 PM) I'm not actually in Malaysia at the moment. The build above would cost me about ~700 AUD which is equivalent to RM 2100+. So yeah, that's about my budget. i suggest getting i5 and 7770, as for motherboard msi b75ma p45, go intel 330 for ssd, others are good to go, gigabyte gc quite ugly imoI plan on purchasing everything from this particular website http://www.eyo.com.au/ |

QUOTE(gmhafiz @ Oct 31 2012, 12:55 AM) 100GB will be reserved for windows partition while the rest of the SSD is for linux partition where I will spend 90% of time with. I want a simple case without too much bling bling so I guess asgard pro would suffice - at almost half the price too. there's no need for an z77 mobo for an non k series processor, can go for asrock h77m but feel free to get the gigabyte, for casing can take a look at 300r, u wont be saying that gtx670 is overkill when u crank up the settings, msi offers 3 years warranty while palitis only 2 years, windows doesn't use more than 40gb for the system files, as for linux I can't say how much it uses, I would suggest installing programs on the hdd while some of urn favourite game on the ssdMOBO: ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP = RM315 CPU: i5 3570 = RM640 - cheapest I found is RM630 but the place is in Johor GPU: Leadtek GTX670 RM1099 / Palit GTX670 RM1179 Monitor: Dell U2312HM ultrasharp = RM559 PSU: Enermax Naxn82+ 550W = RM215 RAM: 8GB = RM120 Case: Xigmatek Asgard Pro = RM155 SSD: Samsung 830 256GB = RM639 Mouse & Keyboard = RM50 Total = RM3872 prices from lingloong, zhen^wei and storm888 Switched from silverstone to recommended enermax because I can get it from KL instead of penang for silverstone. The palit gtx670 jetstream at RM1299 might be a better value than the MSI? Anyhow both OC'ed GPU seemed overkill for 23" 1080p monitor. Found GA - Z77M-D3H for RM299 only. I know gigabyte mobo has some gaudy colours but the looks is the least concern for me. Also that mobo has all that I need, PCI-E 16x, legacy PCI slot for sound card, etc. Added on October 31, 2012, 1:42 amtake the Intel 330 180GB if u want more This post has been edited by AssToast: Oct 31 2012, 01:42 AM |

QUOTE(WiLeKiyO @ Oct 31 2012, 01:45 AM) Guys, again I do not know where is the right place to ask a noob question. no, if it did u won't see us pairing Intel with amd Does it make sense that AMD CPU with AMD(ATI) GPU perform better than Intel CPU with ATI GPU ? Is there any rules that AMD should pair with AMD and Intel pair with Nvidia ? Sorry again if I started annoying someone here. Building a rig is more complex than buying a car. Added on October 31, 2012, 2:09 ambuilding a rig isn't that confusing, srsly, buy parts, assemble, enjoy This post has been edited by AssToast: Oct 31 2012, 02:15 AM |

Wont be doing sli. I do see alot of nice rig suggestion, i learn a lot also from all those sifu around here. So many explanation too. But i would like to put this up because i would also like to know, if i were to get the rig on January or Feb next year. (When bonus is out), should i wait? Is there new model, product, new tech coming out? Dont need a graphics card, the igp would be enough, what connector the projector uses? if its both vga then u cant connect to 2 i thinkIts for the pa system n will split to 2 projector. So i need a decent graphic card. Moat probably amd/ati cause its cheaper and provide better performance? :-) can recommend? No need for monitor or mouse/keyboard. The church computer isnt gonna online...so driver support from amd wouldnt be any problem :-) QUOTE(kennethkee93 @ Nov 4 2012, 05:39 PM) Helping my friend to get a rig suggestion hmm, go with this[Budget] RM2k including a LCD monitor.
