I thought Shelvey did well too. Did some good pressing and more composed on the ball than usual. If his shot had gone in I would have shouted like a mad man lol. On a side note, Allen man of the match for sure.

Either side works fine for me.
Anyways, I hope the error tonight taught the lads a lesson. Stop backpassing so much.

...And no more the godlike mode against strong team and heart attack mode against not-so-strong teams.

BR has just came out to defend Skrtel's decision to backpass. There's no problem with passing it back to the keeper when you have someone of Reina's calibre. By playing the ball to the keeper's feet, you have an extra man advantage with the keeper as an outfield player. It also means the ball is on the ground and relieves the pressure off the defenders.

The only lesson to be learn is to look up before you pass it back.

good performance by the team. impressed by the difference since the albion game. we should be able to get the first win against Arsenal. Borini and Sterling did well pressing high up, just need to improve our final ball. YNWA Skrtel, these things happen sometimes. Overall i'm very pleased with our performance.

I'm saying this not based on tonight's performance. This habit of ours still persists since Kenny's era. But I can see it has reduced since BR took charge.

and i cant believe Suarez gets booked for complaining! thats two yellows in 2 games for him. Refs have a perception of Luis, unfortunately. I cant believe Kompany didnt get a caution for the number of fouls he accumulated.

Man City was not in their strongest. And we still lack open play goals. We shud win against Arsenal tho.

gutted by the draw, cant give in to goals like that.........both goals were clearly avoidable.

arsenal coming up, they still havent score a single goal.

btw, what was the issue with the policeman and lucas on the bench?

keep playing like this and we are heading in the right direction. Too many back pass we made, i think and 1 cost us 2 pts. We pay 2 pts for the mistakes we made tonight, i think these can be resolved in training. We did show that we can still be a force if we keep our head together.

I think their squad only lacked Aguero and one of their CBs? We were not in our strongest too mind you. We missed Sahin and Agger too.

Good game from Liverpool. We started out slow though, maybe Shelvey comes in for Lucas need some time for players to reorganize. But after the 15 mins mark, we beginning to play very good passing football. We've been building up momentum since then until Skrtel scores for us from the corner.

Sterling is very compose and calm, for a 17 year old I have to admit I'm really impressed with his display in such a big game. thumbup.gif

Suarez really have to stop complaining to the referee and fishing for fouls. The more he asks for it, the more unlikely he'll get it. He needs to cut that off and focus on his game.

Though we get off scoring from 2 set pieces, I wonder when we'll be starting to score from open play. I hope BR sees this and rectify it in our next home game against the gunners.

Great game from Allen. He proves his doubters wrong in this game. smile.gif

Needless to say, impressed by the performance and more impressed by Brendan's interview! And I believe he will fix the backpass problem sooner rather than later.

They were experimenting with new 3-4-3 line up
