If you play any of the old Castlevania specifically Rondo of Blood, think of Lords of Shadow as the 3D version of the game with DMC type combo learning and secret upgrades searching.. The environment is very differrnt though as this game has a lot of big outdoor area.

Im playing this up to chapter 7 so far. For me, I cant see any point of "dislike" for this CastleV new generation.
The developer put a lot of effort drawing an art style make the game environment so beautiful and immersing.

Really really damn beautiful.

Im playing castV series since 1988 NES 8 bit.

The "GAMESPOT" should not give 7.5/10. its a "bias" score from western reviewer and it should get at least 8.5

Compare to D.m.C and godofwar....this game on par and sometime could be more puzzle challenging.

Guys, do you find any music from LoS series to be memorable? It may be me but Castlevania's music has always been very memorable to me and is a very big part of the enjoyment I get from playing Castlevania. Honestly, after playing LoS, it's hard for me to recall any of its music whereas the old Castlevania, I can still hum them even after years of not playing it.. such awesome music smile.gif

Not as good as all the previous game for me, just the same, overused orchestral score every medieval fantasy game has.

There is no personality in the music like those from the previous games.

To be fair, those puzzles do offer a decent challenge especially to players that are not familiar with puzzles, not overly hard though.

Another thing I found is that the 2 chapter of DLC story is much more interesting than the whole main game.

boss Titan was EPIC...
This game really has rich content (lot of cutscene)like "MASS EFFECT"...

But sadly...i heard...console version has Framerate stuggering issue...
...a lot of complain on the lagg frame....

Talking about stage design in LoS, I like the view when the camera pan out to see the full castle in the winter night when we were running on the chain to the castle. Epic scenery moment reminding me of when I ran up the stairs just before battling Dracula in Super Castlevania IV! laugh.gif The forest stage look awesome too especially when we jump to cross the chasm like the previous 2D platformer Castlevania. Nostalgic feeling, man! Boss battles are well done.

I don't particularly like the portal-like stage near the end though...haha, warping around ain't my thing. What it does need is more atmosphere though I think and that's what the music failed to bring out. Like comparing Diablo 3 to Diablo 1, the atmosphere just lacking that special gothic haunting feeling? tongue.gif

Exactly how I feel, "same, overused orchestral score every medieval fantasy game has". This is Castlevania for heaven's sake, how can the music be so non-extraordinary!!! Unforgiveable...hehe tongue.gif It lack the personality of older 2D castlevania games. Even the ps2 3D Castlevania Lament of Innocence has a great Leon's theme music! Why LoS did you not improve your music??? Music score 5/10 here too. I want to be mesmerized again by the beautiful Castlevania music like Vampire Killer, Bloody Tears, Dance of Pales, The Lost Painting, Crystal Teardrops, etc biggrin.gif

The puzzles are okay, some can be tough to figure out at first. Some I solved by blind luck...haha laugh.gif

I'd be lying if I say I didn't check any walkthrough. blush.gif

the clock trap need lots of trial and error. once you get it, it's quite easy.

the most challenging part is defeating The Forgotten One in Paladin difficulty.
