i don't often use the facebook app but if i'm not mistaken, it's not s3's fault. it's android.
facebook for android is horrible.
so horrible that mark zuckerberg knows it and he's forcing his employees to use the app just to let them know how crappy is it just to improve it tongue.gif

If you rooted, use button savior. It's the best around but I wish there is one like ipad where it can use 5 or 4 fingers on the screen

well pinch to zoom is an essential, so i can definitely see samsung having to pay for rights to use that feature. There are laws in place for apple to sell royalty rights at a fair price.

As for the smartphone hardware exterior design, this is the biggest question mark. now that the courts have a agreed apple owns rectangles and rounded corners, or literaly anything resembling what we would commonly think of as a smartphone/tablet, how then will it be possible for any other brand to make one without paying any royalties to apple ?

And therein lies the issue. Prices for competing non apple products will go up in price obviously (due to royalty fees in making the phones), because there is no way around this unless they can come up with a triangle shaped tire  laugh.gif

I'm sure other shapes will eventually catch on. Years ago some of Samsung's phones have oval shapes. Before iphones. most of the Nokia phones have more or less oval shapes.

How about this Sony ericsson phone design..may catch on.

Shape is less of a problem. It's the performance of the phones that's uniquely Samsung....the swipe to unlock the screen. Pinching to enlarge can be replaced by tapping..anyway does Apple have the monopoly on touch screens? Who owns the patent? Apple actually relies heavily on Samsung to deliver up to 25% of the iPhone 4′s parts. Among the components include the flash memory within, DRAM memory and the applications processor which basically makes the entire handset tick. If Samsung were to tell Apple to fly kites and outsource their parts from other sources, will that be counter productive? Or Samsung strong arm some deals...we provide you parts, in exchange you let us use your patents...or totally seek their own path? Knowing the Koreans they can eventually come up with something. I hate Apple for being so mercenary vmad.gif

I support what James Trew says. "In fact, pre-Android and iOS, most mobile phones often looked and operated in much the same way, the difference was mainly in the hardware itself." Nokia was the taiko then..why it didn't sue the others? Because it is not as mercenary as Apple.Tim Cook...another Bill Gates in the making. Nokia's Symbian OS never improved and today it is losing money.

"Apple had the legal right to protect something, it did, and won. Fine. What is more galling is that the jurors seem to have missed an opportunity to question the validity (and by proxy, value) of these patents, and they didn't. Is Apple going this self-destructive path, the end of which is good for no one, not even Apple. "
I think Google and Samsung will not give up so easily as big bucks are involved.

If Apple license out their patents to Android makers the end result will be more expensive phones..and Apple having less competetion will produce mediocre phones. Have you noticed that the new ipad (so called ipad 3) is already in our stores without much fanfare? Its specs are nothing to shout about. Probably Apple is waiting to launch its mini ipad and iphone 5 and relegate the ipad 3 to the junk heap.

I was iPhone user and just recently changed to S3 1-2 months ago coz cant wait for iPhone 5.. After switching to S3, I noted PlayStore has less apps compared to Apps Store.. Significantly lesser in terms of medical world..

Anyway, I just wanted a fast responsive phone which big screen for reading.. Which can fit into my pocket biggrin.gif

@Tookia

those things you highlighted are exactly the stuff i'm having issue with.

Anyways apples lost lots of respect for what they did. Not because they were protecting themselves, but because they went overboard on some items that went beyond common sense like the patent on rectangle :{

Despite the outcome, even haters will still get an iphone 5 if it's worth it's salt.

As for myself i'm an android fan because i feel there is more room for developers to make their apps for it when compared to the IOS.

not to mention i'm not a fan of proprietary ports whos only goal is to block out competition.

I know this for a fact because i got an Aktimate Mini with an apple dock port, which i can't use with the Samsung Galaxy S3 that has a usb mini port. How is that suppose to benefit me the consumer ?

-.-; The EU already found fault with it. So i am curious to know what ports the iphone 5 will have.

i got a few suggestions for reading apps.

mantano reader looked nice for reading ebook formats, easy on the eyes and pretty responsive.

perfect viewer is awesome to read manga. can browse on lan to find your book :}

for manga online viewer i recommend manga watcher nod.gif

the downside to reading on S3 is ... it's not as efficient power wise compared to say kindle with e-ink display.

But you can read for a few hours on the S3 if you set the brightness low enough yet still readable to save on power.

the screen size is sufficient enough for me. for manga though i sometimes zoom in/zoom out and drag a bit to view it sometimes sweat.gif

@YouDontKnowMyName,

Thank for your great review on SGP Curved Crystal, i had it applied on mine, it is like a brand new phone. Smooth, no orange peel effect. Esp your recommendation of Hinged Method, 1 attempt, good align and gao dim. I recalled last time with FlexHD, was sweat like crazy.

SGP going to launch GLAS, claimed had some Oleophobic effect, which i prefer, as my previous S1, S2, applied Oleophobic, till not still good condition. However this GLAS for SIII is way too pricey $34.99, compared to Curved Crystal $15.99.

I wonder besides can try custom ROMS etc, what r the benefits of rooting ur S3? I'm using all the original firmware and the only thing i wished for is more speed & stability if i have to root or install custom ROM.. hehe

Otherwise i'm much satisfied with the current ROM.. waiting for official JB release only
