You do Nandroid before flashing custom roms. If anything bad happen during flashing you can restore back to your previous set up by using your Nandroid.

Try to use manual screen brightness instead of automatic, setting it to 50% or below. You can disable wifi and data connection if you're not using it that frequent, turn it on only when you need to use it.Disable all auto syncing will help as well. You can set the sleep timer below the 1min default setting, as this will off the screen earlier and safe some power.Monitor your task manager once in a while to kill off running apps and processes. Using a black background wallpaper will help save power as well because of S.AMOLED screen.

You can also boost/reduce ringtone loudness by going to the modifier "Ringtone" and change the "speaker volume" 5. save it and reboot

What is Root?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
QUOTE
In this post, I’ll be talking about the rooting process of an Android device as far as my best knowledge allows me to. Regarding ‘root’ itself, please consult the many definitions around the internet. In short, it is a special permission granted to a user to perform low level operations on a system (like backing up your Angry Birds game data, or changing the boot animation). 'Rooting' is the process of obtaining the means to grant this permission
.
DJFoo000 has written a long post detailing everything about rooting an Android device. Read it if you are interested in learning all things about root.CLick Me

FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA DOWNLOAD MODE USING ODIN
Odin can be used to flash image files or parts of your phone. You can flash something as simple as a boot image or a complete system. Everything is packed in a tar or tar.md5 file on your PC and flashed via Odin which is a Windows OS program.
a. Make sure you have your tar file stored on your PC.
b. Reboot your phone to Download Mode [shut down your phone, then hold down the Home + Volume DOWN Buttons and press the Power Button for about 2 seconds until a Warning screen appears. Press Volume UP to continue to Download Mode.
c. Connect your phone via usb and the first box at the top under ID:COM should turn blue and have some text in it. If you are using Download Mode on your phone for the first time then you will notice drivers being installed to use it.
d. The site or page you downloaded the file from will usually give you instructions to set Odin but if not you want to load boot/recovery/system files to the PDA location and have 'Auto Reboot' and 'F.Reset Time' ticked and nothing else.
e. Click on 'Start' to start the flash. You can see what is happening in the text box in the lower left.

Hey guys, I purchased the SGP Steinheil Curved Crystal for Galaxy S3 about a month ago from eBay and it finally arrived.
I have previously purchased a Steinheil FlexHD but the 'orange peel' effect of it was bugging the hell out of me. I was in dire need of a better SP ...Which led me to the curved crystal
What is included in the package They gave 2 pieces of the screen protector.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I applied it using the "hinge method" with a piece of cellophane tape. Very quick and very easy. Just push out the bubbles using the included squeegee (wrap the squeegee in the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching)
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Spotted a tiny speck of dust under the SP, the dust removal stickers came in handy
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Overall, the application was very easy using the hinge method. Everything aligned perfectly and screen looks extremely clear as if nothing is on! There is very little 'wiggle room' for the SP. Everything is cut extremely precise, about 2mm of misalignment is enough to ruin it all up!
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
----------------------------------------
Word of advice: 1. DO NOT take off the front part of the protective film while pushing the bubbles out. It may scratch the screen protector! Only take the front part off until everything is done and applied properly 2. Wrap the squeegee with the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching!
------------------------------------------
VERDICT : The SP is very clear and smooth! It doesn't attract lots fingerprints or smudges easily. Looks as if there's not even anything applied! There are cut-outs for the earpiece, camera and home button. I really don't see why they couldn't cover the camera, but that's not a big deal for me anyway
So far, there isn't any other screen protector that covers the entire front of the S3 other than the FlexHD, which I really dislike due to the side effects (orange peel effect).
---------------------------------------
PROS : 1. Crystal clear, clarity is amazing! (believe me, this one is a top priority for me) 2. No rainbow effect 3. Cut-outs are aligned perfectly 4. No other screen protector as good as this one 5. Does not attract much fingerprints/smudges (but is NOT 100% smudge-proof!) 6. Finger glides along the surface very smoothly 7. No bubbling around the edges whatsoever! 8. FlexHD sucks compared to this.
CONS : 1. Price may be a little bit steep for some (15USD), but keep in mind that 2 pieces of screen protector are provided! 2.(UPDATE!)The screen protector is easily 'dented' using your fingernails! Be careful not to poke the screen with the screen protector on. I regret lending my phone to my friend with long nails to use. Got many dents on the screen protector. It's due to the 2H hardness rating of the SP so most likely any other SP with similar hardness will be the same!
------------------------------------------
I HONESTLY WOULD RECOMMEND THE CURVED CRYSTAL to anyone looking for full front coverage for their S3.
BUY THE CURVED CRYSTAL INSTEAD OF THE FLEXHD
It is WORTH YOUR MONEY!!
--------------------------------------------
UPDATE! After using it for a couple of weeks! (SERIOUSLY THINK TWICE BECAUSE OF THE 2H RATING OF THE SP!) [refer to CONS section]

Overall, the application was very easy using the hinge method. Everything aligned perfectly and screen looks extremely clear as if nothing is on! There is very little 'wiggle room' for the SP. Everything is cut extremely precise, about 2mm of misalignment is enough to ruin it all up!

Word of advice: 1. DO NOT take off the front part of the protective film while pushing the bubbles out. It may scratch the screen protector! Only take the front part off until everything is done and applied properly 2. Wrap the squeegee with the microfibre cloth to prevent scratching!

I HONESTLY WOULD RECOMMEND THE CURVED CRYSTAL to anyone looking for full front coverage for their S3.
nice review of the SGP curve crystal SP. i"m still considering btw curve crystal or nano optics. currently i'm using a matte SP. it's good, no prob with fingerprint/smudges but clarity is really2 sucks to the max. Seem like the resolution isn't HD at all. just wondering how about the clarity of nano optics. never seen the real one applied.

I would say the matte on the screen is not as blur as most other cheap matte SPs. Clarity is pretty good. 8/10 probably
