I see that you have another PCI card right below the GC.Maybe you will need to check out the space available to you and make sure that specific cooler is going to fit in nicely..For 6600, i guess Zalman would do the job quite well and is easily available.

Yes thats my LAN Card.

How many pci slots does the zalman occupy ?
*
Well, that really depends.I had not tried on any Zalman VGA Cooler before so i cant give any oppinion on that. However, previously, i had heard complaints about Zalman cooler being too big and cause problem especially during SLi/Xfire.Therefore, if your LAN card is right below the GC, there might be some problem in fitting it in.Maybe Zalman user can explain more...

If you could find it here, i really thinks the ZEROtherm GX710 could do the job for you at an affordable price.Should be roughly around RM100+.And it had been stated in ZEROtherm site that its built for Xfire/SLI, so i suppose it wont be blocking any PCI slot..

I wont be using the Lan Card in a few months time coz my main mobo wud be back from FIXING.

Mind to share how ur GX810 is performing ?

Thanks.

I had posted the result previously.Maybe you could check out in previous pages...If you are budget concerned, i guess the GX710 could do the job for you for roughly around RM100+.But its hard to get ZEROtherm product here.Maybe you could look at bulk order. Are you into hardcore OCing?

let's all together do some logical thinking ya rclxub.gif

ur cooler will not be blocking another vga for SLI/XFire cause if u doing SLI/XFire, there will be a gap (size of two pci slots), go & find a SLI/XFire mobo that places their both PCIE slots side by side, i'm pretty sure that u won't find any nod.gif there will be two pci slots under the first PCIE, then another PCIE slot under the pci slot

& yes, any cooler design for SLI/XFire means the cooler won't blockin the 2nd vga card, but doe the 2nd vga card stand really under the 1st vga card, nope, there will be 2 pci slots under it nod.gif

but if u have a card really under the vga, most third party cooler will block it laugh.gif so ur understandings of "i suppose it wont be blocking any PCI slot.." is wrong tongue.gif
*
Well, i guess you are right but thats what stated in Zerotherm site. I have heard someone having problem with those big zalman fan that sometimes cause problem during SLI/Crossfire.This is because last time, when i wanted to purchase the 7300GT Zalman fan version, there are 2 types available which is the big zalman fan and a small one. Therefore, i did that assumption myself..lol..

Another piece of advice is that check out the compatibility list to make sure that specific cooler will fit.Maybe emailling the support team of specific manufacturer will help clear things up as well...Zalman should be your best bet right now for cheap and good cooler..

Guys, i have a problem here.My 7300GT and my cousin's 7600GS both comes with a 2pin connector on a GC.The stock cooler on the GC uses a 2pin connector but when we change to a 3rd party cooler, they normally come with a 3pin connector? Is there any solution in changing the 3pin connector into a 2 pin one or we are left with the only solution we are using now as in using this 3pin connector built on the mobo?

u can find a 2pin to 3pin converter (don't ask me where to find it, i dunno)

better use the 3pin converter, lessen the burder of the vga to provide power to the cooler & don't connect the 3pin to the mobo as well, same thing, burden the mobo to provide power, just connect directly to 4pin molex la (which is directly from the psu power source), i said this bcoz of my experience

i got two mobo...
mobo one: all the 3pin on that mobo connects to a fan
mobo two: all fan connects directly to 4pin molex, including the cpu fan, luckily my psu got rpm reader, so i plug that into the cpu fan pin, thus avoiding the mobo to shut down (the mobo will shut down if no fan connects to the cpu --> unless u amend the BIOS to ignore it)...

mobo one: always end up for RMA --> every 6 month (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe) doh.gif
mobo two: still standing after 3 years, no RMA laugh.gif
*
IC, so the best way is use directly from the PSU la.But that will prevent me from controlling the speed of the fan right?

definately.
think of it this way. if u are doing work, and some person comes up to u and ask u to do even more work, that would stress u out wont it?
same thing. the Motherboard is consuming power as it is to feed all the components on the board. by u putting another fan there, there is a tendency for the board to become unstable.

if u do connect it to the mobo, u can control the fan speed via the bios, of softwares such as Speedfan

Ok, i understand what you are saying.Does not want to run out of topic here...lol..

Maybe the Zalman VF700 - ALCU?The led version is selling at RM105 in moderno's bulk but not sure how much the non-led version is selling(If there is someone selling, should be below RM100).That should be a very good cooler at an affordable price..

Can current 3rd Party GC HSF be used on newer versions of GC aka those DX10 ones? I am thinking of changing to a new GC but i am worried that my current Zerotherm could not be used on those and that would be a real waste..

I think current 8600GTS cooler have the same design as the one on the 8800, just slightly shorter and without the heatpipe..And i do like the cooler on the 8800 as well.

Dont think it will be alot but for sure will help slightly in terms of reducing the temperature..

Anyone tried the new CM GC cooler that came together with the Galaxy 7900GS Super? Its on sale now for barely about RM60+..

Im a newbie actually when it comes to aftermarket coolers. I also wanna start out with air cooling..,also i would prefer a cooler that would provide cooling to the RAM sinks.

Budget?? Maybe less than RM200?? Is that enough?? Not really interested with water-cooling atm..,
*
lol..RM200?You can already get some of the best..

But i think some of the best GC cooler around wont be able to support 6600 AGP..Even the TR HR-03 and Zalman VF-900 had mention that it wont be able to support 6600AGP hmm.gif hmm.gif

what HSI thing? i think u need to elaborate further.
*
If i am not wrong, HSI = High Speed Interconnect chip which is used in the 6600 AGP cards. It got something to do with PCIE protocol used in AGP.Some sort of communication thingy. I should google more and check about it..lol...This is the main problem that causes 6600AGP card to be not compatible with alot of third party GC coolers out there...

Well, its stated in TR's website that the HR-03 would not fit onto the 6600AGP because its unable to cover the HSI chips. Anyway, just realise this at the bottom :

※AGP HSI bridge chip not covered but a solution is in development, to be completed in February 2007

Not sure its already available or not, cause if it is, then HR-03 would be a great choice for the 6600AGP

Zalman used to have a seperate HSI sink for the 6600AGP since the VF700 era.
For the VF900, I am not really sure.
*
Just researched about it at the Zalman website and yes, you are correct. The VF-700 is able to support 6600AGP as it comes with additional HSI heatsink.

@desmondgasper,

I guess this is the best for you right now and it does come at a cheap price. Slightly more than RM100 only...

I dont really think its possible unless maybe if you wanna mod it? hmm.gif But why you wanna change the fan?Its proven to perform well even during OC and at a cheap price thumbup.gif thumbup.gif ...
