I know what you mean. At certain time of the day, maybe the sun's angle. Half of the windscreen is your dashboard reflection. I have to sit up higher jst to see what's in front. Happened to me a few times before. Morale of the story, dont polish the dashboard too clean.. haha!!

Yes, i've heard it many times... it's for sotongs like me!
*
Ok, now come to think of it, I usually encounter this after I sent my car for a wash and polished the dashboard brows.gif

Hi Guys, how to use cruise control? Seem not working for me. After i press the button the car is slowing down if i don't hit the paddle. Anyone? Need some help here...
*
I just used it last week.
1) Run at the speed you want, then activate cruise control
2) Then push the knob to "Set" (on the steering, right)
3) You're on cruise control. Then you can use the same button and push to "+" to increase speed

Enjoy brows.gif

I tried a few times but it seem not working for me. Do we have to maintain the speed limit to a certain time then press the button or do we need to drive at certain limit?
*
Really? Don't think you need to maintain the speed at a certain time. Well I was driving at 110km/h. Then I activate the cruise control (make sure a light of an icon comes up at your display panel). Then I put the knob to "Set". Then its done. Can lift my feet away from the accelerator pedal.
If still doesn't work, better check it out.

Yea, i agreed, why need to pump so much till almost overflow.. unless u know the petrol price gonna raise up very badly..thats also can enjoy 1 tank.. so, wats the point...

but maybe some will say bcos of the petrol brand that they prefer or force to use selected brand like me due to using company petrol.. i am lucky bcos 1 full tank ngam ngam enuff for me to travel for 5 days.. most importantly.. organised your time properly.. Cheers!
*
I agree to this. Its quite difficult to gauge how much more to pump after the click. I pump every weekend to get the 5X points for Maybank AMEX Card brows.gif . Usually every weekend there will always be half tank full still, maybe this will be different for certain individuals. But I guess petrol stations are everywhere even outstation brows.gif

Currently the best Ron 95 fuel in the market is the new BHP Infinity Advance 2X. Its a Euro 3 fuel while all other fuels in Malaysia are still Euro 2. Ive tried it and its quite good. But sadly, i have to stick to Shell due to company policy. Damn!
*
Is this really true? There are differences using BHP? My company policy only requires me to pump RON95, but did not state what petrol brand. However, it is quite difficult sometimes to find BHP stations compared to Shell.

Just outta curiosity, if i'm going abroad for 10days, should i left me petrol tank full or empty? does it even matter?
*
I don't think it matters. Never tried yet for my K5. But my previous cars, Honda and Proton....all no issue.

QUOTE(ericwen @ Feb 15 2013, 11:37 PM)
hi everyone,

few questions on k5 optima.

a. i haven't test drive this car but i sat on the car in the show room. 1 thing which i notice very obvious...

there's no hand brake. But instead there's a leg brake on the left side. Normally my car I can rest my left leg. But this left brake is kinda blocking it, feel uncomfortable. Is this normal?

I am 6" tall so I feel my legs not so comfortable.

b. What's the differences between k5 2013 over 2012?

c. The car interior,hmm.. a bit like plastic. I compare between vw jetta, mazda 6 (new one) and optima (not sure which version, but seen an old show room car before CNY at Kia federal highway). Plus the leather seats like a bit whitish. I wonder whether the leathers can last long?

d. How about the power? I tried mazda cx-5, really underpowered. Jetta is really powerful. How about this car? Coz the body is long and the engine is 2.0 only, can it tahan?

I noticed a lot of people buy Kia Optima K5. Despite the features, how about the resale value of this car?

I need some help on deciding what to buy my next car. K5 seems to fall within my budget.

Any help? Thanks.
*
Not sure this will help.
1) The leg brake --> just need to take some time to adapt to it. Initially felt uncomfortable....now used to it seems ok.....for your height maybe you just need to adjust the seat
2) Not sure if there is any significant difference between k5..but you say the interior abit like plastic? My friends did say it looks good compared to even VW
3) Abit underpowered especially during pickups....but once moving along seems ok and can even "race" abit brows.gif
4) Resale value still too early to tell I guess...need to see when the market reaches into its 5th yr at least
5) One thing is for sure...your car will turn heads 100% brows.gif

Use the car first and see if u really need the tint first. All K5 come with UV cut glass. I didnt use a tint cuz the heat was bearable. Even if u decide to tint, dont bother bout the sunroof. You wont be opening the sunroof that often anyway.
*
I think it is safer for the tint, especially for the security tint to ensure the glass don't shattered upon impact

I have this nagging issue just would like to share out. Eventhough the central locking is controlled by the driver, it seems that the front passenger still able to open the door (the lock automatically releases).....is this only applicable when the car is stationary? Even if the answer is yes, still don't feel safe while stopping at traffic lights and the passenger is a kid.

All passengers can open the door but they need to manually unlock the door themselves. Dont know what you mean by 'automatically release'. Only the driver can just open the door straightaway. Same with Toyota cars.
*
I think the front passenger can instantly open the door once pull the lever. Maybe I'm wrong in that sense but I did see my mom doing it.

Hi fahrur, your k5 is NU engine ?  In terms of locking, there is a different between ThetaII and NU engine.  In the ThetaII spec, only driver side can open the door without unlocking the latch, but the rest, the passenger need to unlock the latch manually then only can open the door.  As for NU and as far as I know,  the passenger doors will unlock while you pull the handle twice.  Eg, the first time you pull, it will unlock the latch, the 2nd time you pull the handle, the door will open.  NU engine owners can confirm if this is true.  This is not a defect, is some standard, there is security reason behind
*
Oh is this true in that sense? Mine is NU engine. That is why I saw my mom opening the passenger door herself....

Yes but you said ealier that she can open straightaway. Since yours is the NU engine version, the passenger doors can only be opened if you pull the lever TWICE.
*
Maybe I didn't see her pulling the lever twice. But only see her manage to open the passenger door. If that is the case, will be dangerous for kids to sit at passenger seat

No, no need to pull the lever twice, just pull it once it will open (for the front passenger), and the manual do informed that child is not recommended to sit infront... (mines Nu Engine, exactly same as my previous forte for this function)
*
This defeats the purpose of central locking....sometimes we want to prevent our front passenger from opening the door, even adults

I think so.... but i think must be some reason they designed like that....

Everytime my front passenger need to alight, i no need to push the unlock button, he/she just pull the lever and open the door straight away.... smile.gif

But i noticed 1 thing, during cruising, if the front passenger pull the lever, the lock button (beside the lever) will unlock and lock back itself very quickly automatically....so you cant open the door....
*
Yes. This what I would say logically to be so. Only when the car is stationary then the door can unlock. So you tried it before? But I don't think anyone dares to try this for confirmation brows.gif

Well, at least its safe when cruising....but when stop at traffic lights, another headache, now needs to pay attention to my front-seat passenger

But now there are 2 answers given for the Nu engine version. 1 guy said you need to pull the lever twice before u can open the passenger door but another said you can open straighaway. So which is which?
*
Just did a test. You just need to pull the lever once
