Hi all K5 owners, I am interested on this car. My philosophy of owning a car, is to use it for long, thus reliability is some how important under this circumstances.  I get some data from JD power survey and the reliability rated for this car is average only. I am aware that oversea spec and ours is different, but i can't find any other local source citing reliability topic though.

http://autos.jdpower.com/research/Kia/Opti...Sedan/index.htm

Previously, I got 2 friends who owned spectra before and within 5 years both encounter gearbox issue, that's why i am very concerned. How the quality and reliability of the CVVL ??
*
Only can say, have been using the car for 2 yrs plus, no issue to the engine or gearbox brows.gif

I have been considering to buy K5 but still many advised that better don't go for Korean car, due to 2nd hand value and its performance.

Wanna get opinions from car owners who have bought and....

If you plan to upgrade your car in the next 2-3 years, 2nd hand value comes into consideration. If not, buy it
If you plan to be a speed demon, performance comes into consideration. If not, buy it
Bonus point: It's a great looking car and guaranteed will turn heads when you drive past brows.gif

I've been servicing my car at Red Cube PJ for 2 yrs. Not sure if this is a good choice. The price seems ok, unless someone can tell me it will be cheaper elsewhere

QUOTE(Jane's @ Oct 2 2014, 08:02 PM)
Anyone ever faced a problem where their K5 wouldnt start and doors are all locked?

The indicator lights all light up as usual, and the auto sensing lights come on(which means the battery isn't flat), but the car just wont start, and all the doors and boot is locked. I left my window open before i stopped my car, and that's the only way i managed to open the doors. Now even my windows wont wind up.

Thanks for helping out.

Check your car battery. I kinda faced similar issue. Battery does not have sufficient power maybe.
If battery used more than 2 yrs already higher chance

Hi all, saw used K5 2013 selling about RM96K, any advice if I wanna get the second hand K5? any things to look out when i go see the car? Thanks for your help.
*
The issues I have:
1) The lower rubber/plate compartments are easily loosen
2) Check the battery..easily consumed

OTher than that, everything is fine until now (2 yrs plus car)
