No point calling the Immigration. If not scan by Malaysian Immigration means officially you're still out of the country.

Go to the nearest immigration office to rectify this problem. You may get a small fine from them.

I just called them and was told that there is no problem if it is not scanned. The important thing is that it was stamped. But I might pay a visit to immigration just to be safe.

I have read the blog. Yes. You have got everything prepared. Remember to refill your petrol to full tank before entering. Petrol in Thailand is super expensive.

RM2 can be saved by filling the white card yourselves. Walk into the Thai Immigration Office at your left and request for white card. Bring your pen, fill it while queuing.

The rest ok. For one week insurance RM14 or buy at Thailand 150 baht (To your left before KFC or First 7-11).

Alert:
Park your car at immigration car park space, don't drive in like nobody business even the police calls you to enter. If you have entered, park your car at roadside in Thailand, then walk to immigration to do your documentation.

There are some first timer entering Thailand without arrival card, without car import permit, without car insurance, they got stopped at second check point before head to Hatyai. Penalty RM3000.00. So, no laughing matter! Pls take it seriously.

There is no KFC, heck it was alot of years ago.

You can get it at Changlun town. After u pass by Petronas on your left( hard to stop as it is quite behind the road) slow down and kept on driving, you will pass by a row of old shop houses, continue like 10m you will see a kopitiam on your right.

Go down and buy there.

Or at thailand, just the moment u drive in look at your left. There will be somesort of stall with Insurance written on it.

If your trip will be frequent i suggest straight away buy ONE YEAR for RM 100.00.

Upon returning to Malaysia, first dont be a jackass and block your car at the drive through area for your own convenience( LOL just kidding)

You can proceed straight away leave the thai custom to immediately park your car. Or before you arrive custom u can park in thailand, there will be small stalls on your right, that sells cigarette, drinks, thai junk food and all.

Get down, get your passport stamped and proceed to the car drive through area ( last counter) to return the temporary vehicle import from.

please REMEMBER TO RETURN. 1 day after the expiry date in the white paper=1000 bath.

No. you are wrong. It's after thai custom.

for insurance, you can get it at Changlun town. Get it at Kedai Kopi 55. Near Maybank Changlun. You can google Maybank Changlun @ No. 1, Jalan Khaya 1, Taman Khaya, 06010 Changlun, Kedah.

Upon returning, return your vehicle import permit paper and sign your big name in their book (this is very important!! If after 30 days no return, you car is considered illegal car unreturned and lost in thailand. Can't get in next time. It's at the last counter after you have stamped ur passport and returned the departure card.

KFC shut down already? lol.. it was N years ago then. Not really look at it when passing by.

Yea you are right! There are a lot of shops provide car insurance services. Drive slowly when you are in Changlun town. A lot of signs for insurance service.

I don't usually buy insurance cuz I only hanging around in Danok.

just came back from the wonderful land yesterday, manage to drive in for the first time without much troubles, bought my insurance near changlun town, get the white card filled by the kakak, total RM19. (Car registration copy is needed in order to purchase the insurance and own passport for the white card)

continue journey to malaysia custom, get my passport scanned and pass through duty free entrance, further up and parked at the car park right before thai immigration, get down with following documents :

- Passport (With white card filled)
- Insurance that purchased in changlun town.
- Car registration copy
- IC copy

first get my passport stamp, asked the immigration counter where should I proceed to check on my car permit, was told to look for Counter No.3 which is located near center of the entrance, I then proceed to Counter No.3 and hands in all the document above, successfully obtained the permit from Counter No.3 , was directly to the counter right beside Counter No.3 for document check and sign on the permit in front of the officer. Done that and get back to car and drive in to lovely land without fear!

upon returning, I drive through the thai custom without stamping my passport & return the car permit, parked my car at the parking place immediately I passed thai custom, get down to get my passport stamped, proceed to Counter No.4 , hands in the permit and the officer asked me , where do I parked my car? pointed to the car parking space and she said okay, ask to sign on the permit paper as well as the log book. Now I'm cleared with thai custom and proceed to Malaysia custom, as usual, pass the malaysia immigration without issue.

I hope my experienced above able to help those first timer who wish to drive in to thai with Malaysia Car. Cheers!

Didnt notice any info about the below here, so i guess i will fill in, i hope some will find it useful.

For frequent traveler into the land of smiles,

There exist an option to extend the pass of temporary import to 6 month validity(maximum period) ,at the cost of 1200 bath upon request to the officer at the usual counter for vehicle.

Basically you are paying for 6 month validity period on your white paper (temporary car import form), good for fellas who need to frequent there multiple time for work. Same process at the same counter, but with one extra form to fill in and you pay 1200 bath. They will give u a small sticker to stick on your car front windshield.

You reduce the hassle of lining up for extra one task to do in that period of 6 month when checking in and out of thailand. 6 month later only then u need to return the white paper when checking out of thailand.

and you dont need to buy car plate sticker that will translate your malaysia alphabet plate to thai writing. "setik ker bur rod pasa thai mai mee mai pen rai, rod malay pasa angrit gaw dai laew" as advice by the officer.

And there is now major road work at the main road after the custom heading into Dannok.
