@DarkAngel: Just tested Wifi-direct-ing to an S2 a couple of days back. Zero issues. On Wanam 2.0 + Stockmod kernel.

Receiver device ROM/Kernel issue maybe. Or something you freezed/removed?

Anyways, got an interesting issue to share. This might sound obvious, but iPhone certified headphones with FULL 3-button controls (vol +, vol - and play/pause/answer) do not work "properly" with any Sammy devices after the S2 it seems (it doesn't work at all with the original SGS, but that is an entirely different story). This is due to the damned auth chip/circuit that must be built in for full "made for iPhone" certification.

Single button ones WITHOUT official certification (and hence no auth chip) work fine.

So, my plastic fantastic TDK EB950 is "made for iPhone" (don't look at me like that, there's no un-mic'ed version okay). Only the center button works, and even then only to change tracks with the music player.

Pick up a call with the center button and the entire headphone stops working (it's shown as disconnected even).

Only 2 ways to make it work it is to either remove and reattach after picking up a call (which is a PITA) or the "press-hold-center-button-while-attaching" trick (which makes the call function work, but screws up music player control).

Ways to solve?

1) Get another, android friendly mic'ed IEM (which might be an issue considering there's not many of these) or a normal one button "universal" mic'ed IEM.

2) Get a normal unmic'ed IEM and answer calls like I used to do, by holding the phone up to your face. Lol.

3) Get the Belkin iPhone mic adapter. Which surprisingly works fine with the S3 due to it's single button unchipped design (even though it's "made for iPhone" lol). Or any other cheapo adapter for that matter (though I can't guarantee that cheapo adapters wont screw up your SQ).

As I had the Belkin adapter from my iPhone days, I went that route. This would definitely work even with the ADDIEMs (aka the Apple In-Ears) if you plan to use that (for some reason).

It's just sad that most IEM manufacturers aren't making Android friendly mic'ed IEMs though. IINM there's only headphones from Ultimate Ears, Nocs, Meelec and Monster if you want working controls and a mic with your headphones.

Hmmm... that's what I was guessing as well... Tried reflashing Wanam2.0 and immediately tried wifi direct and it works flawlessly..

wondering what is it that i uninstalled that caused issues... I routinely uninstall

Samsung account 1.2.041
SamsungAppsUNA2 2.0.35
Samsung TTS
Samsung Backup Provider1.0
Samsung Backup
Samsung Cloud Data Relay 1.1.8
Samsung Cloud Syncadapters 1.0
Samsung Push Service 1.05

Software update
Samsung Apps
Weather Daemon
Weather Main

I think those things affect the wifi direct... can't think of any other....

Funny, I have ALL of the above uninstalled EXCEPT Samsung Account. Try that restoring that?

BTW, I ran back to Siyah now, need the swap support. I'm now using enough RAM at times that my backgrounded music player dies lol - blame 16 parallel running tabs in browser opening up the desktop versions of Gmarket + our sad sad 1GB RAM lol.

Swap on ExtSD = multi write wearing the disk out = change ExtSD. A far better option compared to the old put swap in IntSD option (fried IntSD = die).

Will try out swapping and see how it turns out. Virtual memory yum.

The other option is getting myself an SKT E210S from South Korea, which isn't viable at all lol.

Bloody 1GB RAM. I knew it will come back to bite me in the backside one day. Hopefully the official JB release later addresses the memory allocation issues.

OK. tried keeping Samsung Account. Wifi Direct seems OK... I'll try with Samsung account uninstalled too and see if it works...

Ran back to Siyah1.4 just a few days ago. Seems to be smoother. 1.5.4 beta choppy though

On 1.5beta4. Not THAT bad, but definitely not butter like StockMod. Oh well.

Now gotta get swap working. Repartitioning the ExtSD is gonna be a beach. At least I got my IEM call controls working, in a very inelegant manner though.

The fact that it was just slightly choppy already hindered me already. Could not forsake fluidity for anything. tongue.gif

hahahaha... too pampered by it la. that's true.

Just flashed Siyah1.4, removed Samsung Account, and wifi direct is A-OK. Probably when flashing the rom previously, something went wrong. I have no idea what though.

OCing my GPU a bit, pushing the steps up. Butter seems to come back a bit. Not bad.

Hmm, glad to hear WiDi is working for you again.

Good luck with that... tried that once with OCing the CPU as well to 1.6GHz and couldn't stand the juice sucking... if you find one that is balanced enough, do share. smile.gif

slightly old news but for those who haven't seen yet, the S3 is shown in this youtube clip as an awesome way to make your own home videos.

http://www.androidauthority.com/t-mobiles-...sung-s3-105547/

Sure the 8MP camera isn't as great the ground breaking 41 megapixel Nokia 808 PureView

http://www.engadget.com/2012/07/12/nokia-8...ff-video-chops/

But still the S3 video/camera abilities is more than sufficient to satisfy. You decide yourself :}

I noticed you were talking about iphone stuff.... by any chance do you know of an adapter so i can use my Samsung Galaxy S3 with my Aktimate Mini which sports an Ipod docking ?

These are the official accessories for the S3

But is there an adapter to convert to the ipod socket so i can use with the speaker ? since you seem to be familiar :/
