QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Aug 3 2012, 07:15 PM) but inregards to malware detection, these are the results for 2012 hahah i like the way they say the monkey steals the phone..so called monkey is the thief hahahha nice nice ...gonna use avast http://www.av-test.org/en/tests/android/ Source: http://www.phonearena.com/news/Android-ant...tectors_id27759 kaspersky got more darkgreen boxes compared to avast so... cough yet despite that avast is free, despite being insanely good http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/01/02/re...ty-for-android/ *update okay so kaspersky has a very minor advantage in detection, but avast is free and has a firewall which kaspersky lacks. But what really convinced me the most was On the otherhand avast has root support ..... so it protects your device from being wiped. the thief just stole a brick because wiping won't give him a usable phone, and the avast protection will still be functioning. So Avast wins big time |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Aug 3 2012, 08:14 PM) i'm using avast now so u mean if i have rooted my phone NOT all anti virus is usable? so avast can be used even my phone is not rooted and have rooted?a mobile anti virus that isn't rooted is unacceptable i heard LBE guard is good for firewall, app rights management, and anti malware. So i'm looking at that currently https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...rity.lite&hl=en |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Aug 4 2012, 01:06 PM) i'm new to to avast but this is what i saw during the installation setup. i c.. thats cool that means i need to root as soon as i can there is an option to install avast onto the root. but your phone needs to be rooted, otherwise when you install it won't use that must needed feature. so when avast is installed in root, it then tells you to use a ubiqoutous name for the folder app for it. This way the thief doesn't manually delete this folder from the root, because he may accidentally delete a core file and brick the phone. normally if you install a av like kaspersky which doesn't install to root; despite all the security settings, they can just delete everything and factory reset, then the av can't do anything. but if the av is rooted like avast is, they can delete, but because the av is in root, the protection will still be active. detection and removal of virus/spyware, kaspersky is ahead of avast by a bit, but avast wins because you can install it into the root, it's free, and has more features. if your still curious to know about the effectiveness of detect/removal of virus/malware for those competing products, i recommend you use google like i did. but from my quick search based on 2012 results, the best mobile security app was either avast or kaspersky. |

Dolphin Browser is cool..got voice function ..will try that to max on later. Now,about the speed . Its slower than chrome but its better than chrome in sense of options like when i was about to exit the browser, it offered me few options.which i can hide the browser (which chrome auto doing that ) or exit fully. and i noticed ,after installed the Dolphin Browser, it has two icon created on my screen saver.why does it happen? 2 same icon ,same name.

Try it for yourself im using dolphin browser.its cool ..does maxthon browser speed is same as chrome or slower or faster than chrome?Added on August 5, 2012, 3:11 pm QUOTE(jjsia @ Aug 5 2012, 03:06 PM) Proud owner of a S3 16GB Pebble Blue. =) However, battery life seems a bit let down. left about 30 percent (been using since 9am - max 4 hours of surfing net) after a full charge last night. Any tips on improving the battery life? Thx use juice defender[app] ..and off wifi if not using .off bluetooth.off auto sync.on power saving mode. and off gps. This post has been edited by AsTiGaTe: Aug 5 2012, 03:11 PM |
