On stock Sammy ROM, the ori gallery is used to set lockscreen wallpapers so no so easy to remove for me. Besides, I like quickpic anyway.
*
QUOTE(FallenOut @ Aug 3 2012, 11:35 PM)
was usin quickpic on s2
bt tis xperia s gallery
its much nicer
*
If I'm not mistaken, we can't s beam to other siii's that don't have quick pic... I think I've tried to s beam via quick pic to another s iii that doesn't have quick pic and it will prompt the receiving s iii to download quick pic

Not sure about this xperia gallery though... A very nice looking gallery for sure

Hnmm... Anyone tried to Wifi direct on wanam2.0? I tried to Wifi direct to another s iii and it doesn't seem to send. It could connect but keeps on trying to send the file..

Sbeam works though...

Tried on both the re packed kernel and siyah1.5beta4

Hmmm.. tried the latest siyah...

can't say it's smooth at all... stock rom is buttery smooth. Rolled back

Added on August 4, 2012, 6:50 pmHmmm.. I think this whole Wifi direct issue is a Custom rom problem...

Anyone knows why?

@DarkAngel: Just tested Wifi-direct-ing to an S2 a couple of days back. Zero issues. On Wanam 2.0 + Stockmod kernel.

Receiver device ROM/Kernel issue maybe. Or something you freezed/removed?

*
Hmmm... that's what I was guessing as well... Tried reflashing Wanam2.0 and immediately tried wifi direct and it works flawlessly..

wondering what is it that i uninstalled that caused issues... I routinely uninstall

Samsung account 1.2.041
SamsungAppsUNA2 2.0.35
Samsung TTS
Samsung Backup Provider1.0
Samsung Backup
Samsung Cloud Data Relay 1.1.8
Samsung Cloud Syncadapters 1.0
Samsung Push Service 1.05

Software update
Samsung Apps
Weather Daemon
Weather Main

I think those things affect the wifi direct... can't think of any other....

Funny, I have ALL of the above uninstalled EXCEPT Samsung Account. Try that restoring that?

BTW, I ran back to Siyah now, need the swap support. I'm now using enough RAM at times that my backgrounded music player dies lol - blame 16 parallel running tabs in browser opening up the desktop versions of Gmarket + our sad sad 1GB RAM lol.

Swap on ExtSD = multi write wearing the disk out = change ExtSD. A far better option compared to the old put swap in IntSD option (fried IntSD = die).

Will try out swapping and see how it turns out. Virtual memory yum.

The other option is getting myself an SKT E210S from South Korea, which isn't viable at all lol.
*
OK. tried keeping Samsung Account. Wifi Direct seems OK... I'll try with Samsung account uninstalled too and see if it works...

Ran back to Siyah1.4 just a few days ago. Seems to be smoother. 1.5.4 beta choppy though

On 1.5beta4. Not THAT bad, but definitely not butter like StockMod. Oh well.

Now gotta get swap working. Repartitioning the ExtSD is gonna be a beach.
*
The fact that it was just slightly choppy already hindered me already. Could not forsake fluidity for anything. tongue.gif

hahahaha... too pampered by it la. that's true.

Just flashed Siyah1.4, removed Samsung Account, and wifi direct is A-OK. Probably when flashing the rom previously, something went wrong. I have no idea what though.

OCing my GPU a bit, pushing the steps up. Butter seems to come back a bit. Not bad.

Hmm, glad to hear WiDi is working for you again.
*
Good luck with that... tried that once with OCing the CPU as well to 1.6GHz and couldn't stand the juice sucking... if you find one that is balanced enough, do share. smile.gif

I said about it long time ago
don't have any forumer here using it iinm
*
The only reason why I haven't tried is because I see a lot of mixed results of those trying it... tempted to anyway... however, we will not be able to see our internalSD anymore in My Files or even in Total Commander I think

Before start using android, my previous phone was blackberry. When I send mass sms to few people using blackberry. The message will automatic included into the individual thread of the people I sent.

I found that android does not have this function? Or I need to do some edit on the setting?

Is there any other 3rd party apps can do the compilation of sms ?

Someone please enlighten me TQ~
*
AFAIK no. It doesn't add to the individual threads. I don't think there is a workaround. I'm using go sms pro and it also doesn't add it to the individual threads

sad then. I can't really catch up with what people replied me few days later after I send the mass sms out O_o
*
Well, when they reply, it goes back to their individual thread. I see no reason why you cannot keep up with that?

QUOTE(ChipZ @ Aug 6 2012, 12:15 PM)
Just got my S3. I'm very new to android after migrating from iOS. Any essential apps that I should download? How can I customize and organize my apps into folders?

Thank you.
*
Wow... that's too general a question. Probably ask in a more categorized manner like what do you want from the phone or "What music player should I download?" is a better way to get responses from others.

Cheers

I'm still waiting for the official release before I flash anything JB related. Then Wanam will get it done for custom.

Although Supernexus seems to be out of alpha/beta stage, meh hmm.gif hmm.gif

me. no problem backing up. u mean Nandroid backup right?
*
Yup. I thought it went on smoothly too. I only noticed it when I needed to restore. it couldn't read the md5 file and then only I realized that the backups were not complete (cause normally i backup and leave it aside until it reboots)

I'm using Scandisk 64GB with Exfat...nandroid backup so far no problem for me, i never use internal memory for backup.
*
hmmm... just tried doing it again to the internal SD and it seems to checkout the md5 sum properly this time... hmmm... maybe I shouldn't do backups from the CWM manager and straight reboot to CWM and backup from there

Never use cwm manager as is unreliable. Always do backup n restore manually from recovery mode itself

thanks ben. I'll remember that well
